My family and I are from Chicago and are familiar with Giordano's pizza. While it's not our favorite "Chicago deep dish" (our favorite it Lou Malnati's) living in Minnesota means it's the closest we are going to get. In reality my overall rating is closer to 3.5-3.7, and here is why: Regarding the pizza: The ingredient ratios have always been a bit off for my taste; the crust is overpowering even for a deep dish and compared with other Chicago restaurants they tend to be stingy on the toppings. That being said, it is still fairly good. The menu is versatile enough that most people will find something to their liking and it's not limited to deep dish pizzas. The positive thing about the MN branches is that they deliver while many in the Chicago area do not; or at least they didn't when we moved in 2019. Additionally, the online ordering is simple and super convenient not unlike most online ordering systems. The problem was that, even though I placed my order at 3pm and scheduled it to arrive at 7pm, it was half an hour late, on the cold side and the crust was sticking to the box. We ordered from the Richfield, MN location which is a 9 minute drive from my house according to Waze. I understand that Friday's are, of course, a very busy day especially for a popular delivery chain; however, even on a Friday, 4 hours should be plenty of time for them to receive, make and deliver. I decided I wouldn't call until 7:15; considering it was a Friday but the store is 9 minutes from my house I thought this was fair. So at 7:15 when it still hadn't arrived I called the store. I spoke with a very nice man who assured me that all the pizzas were out the door and that he would call the driver to make sure we were his first stop. Despite the close proximity to the store (and that the pizzas had already left according to the nice man on the phone), it was another 15 minutes before our pizza arrived. I could tell it had been in the box for a while as the bottom cardboard ring was completely saturated causing the crust to start sticking to it and the cheese was slightly hard even though it felt warm in the box. The driver was very kind; he assured me the manager would be discounting our order - which I greatly appreciated - and he even offered to pick up the packages on my porch. Overall the staff was very kind and accommodating and despite the delay I will order from them again for that reason alone. My advise is to give it a try and make up your own mind. I am positive you will find something to your liking. However, if you are planning to do so on a Friday or Saturday plan in advance. If the restaurants are as busy as they are in Chicago, dinning in will be a 2+ hour event and longer if you order a deep dish. And delivery will not be any more expedient. Make sure you have the time to wait and enjoy the experience - unlike me who had a very hangry 6 year old with an 8pm bedtime wondering where his dinner was. read more

This was a very poor dining experience. I would not revisit again or refer this location to others. We chose to have a Birthday celebration dinner at this restaurant because of the positive reviews on Google and Yelp, and as it turns out for us the only positive of the evening was that our table reservation was available when we arrived and they allowed us to bring in our own birthday cake. We were seated promptly at 6:45pm(our reservation time) but Unfortunately everything was downhill after this. After being seated the waitress took our drink order at 6:50pm. Only 1 person at our table ordered a bar drink and she didn't return to the table with the beer until 7:15 pm (25 min to get a beer) She told us sorry on several occasions and the the bartender was at fault because he was not very organized tonight. At 7:20pm we placed our main food order, "2 med deep dish pizzas and 1 thin crust pizza". Close to 8:00pm the food was delivered but it was the wrong food. The thin crust was correct and the 2 deep dish we believed were incorrect The waitress took the two deep dish pizzas away saying that she brought them all out to us because they were sitting next to each other on the line?? She returned a several min later with one of these deep dish pizzas she just took away and said she made a mistake and entered the wrong order into the computer. She offered to re-enter the order, however the wait time would be another 40 more mins. We said just to cxl that pizza and not to resubmit the order. It was now 8:10pm when we received a partial order. She offered to send the manager over to discuss "the situation" We declined the offer to speak to the manager and only wanted to eat the dinner that was brought out and move on with our Birthday celebration. Less than 5 min later the manager came over and interrupted our table discussion and basically insisted that we allow her to reenter the order and we could have the pizza for free. A member of our group agreed to the managers request and that was the last of any staff member we saw until they cleared the plates from the table. Side note: the 10 min or so, when the food was brought to the table, taken away and the only one pizza returned to the table, the thin crust and the deep dish were both cooled down. So basically we ate less than hot pizza. which is disappointing. So the compounding factors of slow service, order mistakes and less than perfect quality food are the reasons I would not visit this restaurant again. On a happy note, The restaurant did allow us to bring in our own Birthday cake and our waitress did serve this to us with plates and utensils at the end of dinner. read more

We love Giordano's, it's our go to pizza place whenever we are in Chicago. So it was a big surprise for us to run across Giordano's here in Minneapolis.. We just finished dinner at a nearby restaurant that day and we all looked surprised and looked at each other in the car when we missed to see this place. Nevertheless, our dinner the next day was set, we're eating here! And that's what we did.. we ordered our all-time favorite calamari and it's that same crunchy appetizer we love in Chicago.. then we added their samplers and those were awesome as well.. The deep dish pizza is all the same taste we loved.. we feel like we're in Chicago dining in.. but in this place the ambiance is much more open, it's not dark like what's typically in Chicago and there are quite a lot of open tables, so no waiting for us! Lastly, the server offered me their mango draft beer and me and my wife fell in love with how light it was and mango in summer is a must for us! Overall this is really such a good place and highly recommend it! read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!! Biggest waste of money you could ever ask for....... $64 for a pizza and 2 orders of frozen fresh from the freezer boneless wings...... and the pizza might as well have been Digiorno. You'd be much better off spending your money at Davannis or really ANYWHERE ELSE... I have travelled all over the world, been to 48/50 states, worked directly under a pizzaiolo born and raised in Italia, and if he tasted this pizza he would have probably jumped off of a cliff. It's tough to find a good deep dish pizza place around here! I love the cheesy goodness of this one though. We did a spinach and sausage deep dish, which was delicious, but a tad burnt on the edges. The service is a little slow and it takes awhile to get a deep dish on a busy night, so it might be good to start with an appetizer to hold you over if you go with an empty stomach. You definitely won't leave hungry! We were waiting almost an hour on a busy Friday evening, and quite awhile after for our bill. The menu has so many options even if you aren't feeling pizza. Oh, and don't plan to wash your hands because there's no sign saying the sinks don't work. My husband couldn't wash his hands either, so glad I had moist towelettes in my purse. Makes me kinda wonder how the employees wash their hands in the bathroom. They could at least have a bottle of sanitizer there. read more

I ordered online and thought I ordered a large. I was surprised when I got a small. Thank God. I forgot about how dense all this layering gets with the sauce on top. It was for my 2 construction guys who were knocked out with how good it was. I love introducing pizza like this to those who never had it before. I only get the deep dish. I customize mine and order it with Canadian bacon, mushrooms, onions and black olives. I ordered a Caesar-really not worth it. This place was my absolute favorite place to eat spaghetti and cheesy garlic bread. This was when I was 16 and my taste buds might've changed since then. I was sad to find that the spaghetti and the garlic bread were very bland. My boyfriend got an individual sized deep dish which looked underwhelming. They were pretty scarce with the ingredients. One slice didn't even have any meat in it. I don't think it was worth the price. The service was great. Jeremy was on top of refilling our drinks and checked up on us a lot. We sat close to the kitchen so we were able to see the chefs throwing the pizza dough up and spinning them which was fun and entertaining! But overall, the flavors from this Giordanos fell flat. I might try the other locations in Minneapolis but I don't think I would try this particular location again. read more

I just experienced the Chicago location. The two are NOWHERE NEAR the same experience. The service was great, the ambiance was meh...but the deep dish pizza was average at best. Return we did...... continuing on from our last review. Met our friend here for dinner on a Tuesday night and it was pretty easy getting a table. Not too busy. Glad we ordered prior to our friend arriving as that deep dish takes a super long time. Had we not pre-ordered it would have been a really long time. They say it takes 45 min or so, but I know ours took a lot longer, even our server kept looking back to see why it was taking so long. It was just sausage and onions. Service was okay. Company even better. We had blast with our friend and this will now be our destination to go and decompress. Good food and great times with friends. Not as good as what you would find in Chicago but it's good for Minnesota deep dish. My only complaint is the wet crust. I think the peppers and onions were not dried properly or the cheese was too frozen? Never happened to me before. That aside, the taste was still good but you can't compare it to Chicago's Giordano's :( read more

The food was mediocre, which is sad because not only did i want to like it, but it costed me $35. the garlic fries had NO flavor, and the deep dish was just mediocre. i can get a cheaper, better tasting pizza with more toppings by just driving down to penn and getting a davannis deep dish. i would've rated a little lower, but the staff and over all service was very nice, really good people (at least the ones i talked to) i'll still be eating the food because it's not bad, just disappointing for the hype and the pricing. read more

Went for the famous deep dish pizza! It did not disappoint and was delicious. Prepare ahead to wait 45 min for the pizza to bake. It was wonderful. Ordered a medium Cesar salad and thought it lacked flavor for a Cesar salad. Not sure why cause it had the right amount of dressing on it. Also had the cheese bread. Lots of Parmesan cheese on It and would have preferred more mozzarella. That changes the flavor big time. Overall, I came for the pizza and found it excellent. read more

I had high expectations for this place. Saw reviews on Google, and they're rated amazing. Should have checked Yelp first to realize it's not worth the hype. Staff were great, but the food was sub-par at best. We order their Chicago-style pizza, and waited 45 minutes for our food to arrive. Once we got our pizza, presentation looked great, but flavor was lacking. Crust was dry, and the sauce to cheese/topping ratio was off. Felt guilty leaving the rest of our pizza behind, so we took the rest home. For carry out remember that it will be 45-55 minute to pickup. This is Chicago Pizza and so I this different from Than other pizza carry out or delivery. The thick Chicago pizza is so good. Good, not great. Service is slow, and has nothing to do with the fact that it takes 45 mins for Deep dish pizza. The service in general was slow, with the waiter being busy an it with other tables, but doesn't explain the prolonged absence. Other servers were out there near the door talking, and won't serve if it's not their table, weird. Our server did best to get us everything timely though. Apart from that, the food was good. I remember my enthusiasm from 3 years ago when I went to Chicago to Giordinos and I wasn't much pleased then either. Food is ok, the deep dish pizza was not as great either. I guess I will stick to Lola Pizzeria which is just awesome. The ambience was ok as well. Not much crowded given that this is a new location and a weekday. read more

We ordered in advance as we knew that the pizza we wanted was gonna take 30 minutes to make. We have been to one in Orlando, and the one in Orlando is awesome so we thought we give this a try. We got there at noon it was dead which was really surprising for 12 o'clock but we were picking up so did not matter to us. The manager was extremely nice which was great we were able to have our cheese bread in advance while we waited for the pizza to be done. The cheese bread was just OK it had a weird taste to it that we weren't used to so we just figured we won't order that again. We had the pizza when we got to our location and the pizza was really good though the bottom layer of the crust just separated completely from the inside and the top, which was fine for us because we don't need all those extra carbs. And though it was good it wasn't as good as Orlando but they are new so we may give them another shot down the road, plus maybe fresh would be better. There is a full bar including tap beer, and a nice patio so I could see maybe trying again Though they could use some privacy on the patio since it is in a parking lot. Overall not bad but not great. I've been to Giordano's in Chicago and the Giordano's in Uptown and I just am not a fan of the deep dish so my fiancé and I ended up trying the hand-tossed thin crust today instead. Still not stellar, but meh. We were hyped to hear Giordanos was opening in Richfield! Knowing that it's a chain from Chicago, we expected great deep dish pizza. FOOD: ordered calamari for our appetizer as we know deep dish pizza was going to take 45min to cook and calamari was pretty good. Nice and crispy. The marinara sauce is a little sour but overall good. The Chicago classic deep dish pizza we thought was just OK. First of all, it didn't seem that hot. Fail. The crust was not crispy. Fail. Crust was too soft on the bottom and the end crust was a little crispier but not by much. The toppings saved this pizza from being bad! A great amount of cheese and sauce. ATMOSPHERE: decor is nice and inviting. Industrial look but we were really uncomfortable during our whole meal as it was freezing in there. Not sure if the heat was even on. We wore our jackets the whole time. We asked if the heat was on and all they could say was, I think so, I mean it is our 2nd day opening. Not a great response!!! SERVICE: service was friendly and came back a few times to check on us. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back anytime soon until they have their heat fixed!!! Definitely wouldn't get the deep dish pizza again but I would come back and see if their hand toss/thin crust is any better but ONLY because it's close to home. Best deep dish Pizza ever. I live in fridley and I'd happy drive over just for their pizza. I highly recommend going there to everyone.
