The cheese curds were pretty good, I added some Italian herbs and a dash of red pepper to the marinara because it was a little bland as a dipping option and it was much better. The drinks weren't the best, so I wouldn't recommend getting anything fancier than a beer to drink. The Chicago classic was okay. The spinach and garlic pizza we got was our favorite! This is purely a review of the location. Since moving to Plainfield this has been our pizza place. For the past two years they've become incapable of having the pizza ready at the time they say it will be ready. Every. Time. I have to wait. My solution was to then show up 10 minutes late. Sometimes it works but usually no dice, "sorry it's not ready yet" (though I only have to wait 5 minutes). I swear there's a note on my record, "make this dude wait". The last straw: I try online ordering @ 2:00pm for pickup at 6:50pm. At 4:00 I realize that's going to be too late so I check the email and it says "if you need to change or order call the store directly at (phone #)". I call the store to change the time. Lady says "no problem 6:50 to 5:50". I asked if she needs my name or order and she says "nope you're the only order at 6:50". 5:50. I show up. I'm not made to wait though, this time there's no order at all! The manager gets involved. He finds the online order but tells me he's "sorry the employee told me she could change the order because they don't have the ability to update online orders. He did offer to immediately make the $60 order which I could wait 45 minutes for or put a discount credit on my account. It's almost 2 years since I've been to this restaurant (last time was in Chicago), I almost forgot how good their food really is. I had their Mama's meatball sub with melted provolone and their house made marinara sauce, served on toasted garlic bread, and two servings of the minestrone soup, both offering that distinctive Giordano taste. We bought one of their frozen pizzas to cook at home, and it was horrible. Tasteless and the sausage pizza we bought had only 5 pieces of meat. Following the cooking directions, and the crust was still soggy, even though we cooked it on a pizza stone. We added Italian seasonings, red pepper and garlic to give it flavor, but this helped little. Never again will I buy a frozen pizza here. For $20.00 a grocery store pizza would have been so much more flavorful and satisfyling. read more

I love Giordano's. We order from there often. The Plainfield restaurant is one of the better ones in the chain. I have gone to the Orland park restaurant and have been disappointed, but the one in Plainfield is consistently good. The food is great, the service also good. You also MUST order deep dish. It is the best pizza you will ever encounter from any location. (Yea, I said it, Lou Malnatis.) You can order 2 pizzas if you want to indulge in their thin crust too, but it is unacceptable to order thin crust alone. You will regret this decision while watching others eat deep dish. I order from this location all the time, usually carry out, and they have never messed up my order, always have it ready within 40 minutes (deep dish takes longer than thin crust), and are very personable and on top of things to boot. Note---you also MUST NOT eat more than 2 slices of deep dish. Giordanos is not low-calorie, and you will highly regret the decision to grab a third slice within the hour. Enjoy! read more

A few days later I look at my checking account and there's a separate unauthorized charge which they said was a covid fee. Tasha was amazing!! She was so friendly, kind and caring!! She got our order for the deep dish and hustled it in so we didn't have to wait as long, then kept us supplied with salad and bread. I ordered a deep dish pizza and called and asked if their pizza had changed, I had it a couple of weeks ago from this location and it was amazing. I was transferred to the manager. I wanted to let him know that I disliked the pizza. The cheese was not melted and the bottom crust was like cardboard. I even heated it up to see if the cheese would melt like it should and it did not, it was rubbery. He told me that he made over 300 pizzas today and I am the only person that complained. He then told me I did not provide him with a valid reason for disliking the pizza and when I came in and he brought up my pizza, (he did not the young lady did), that I looked like a PISSED OFF WOMAN. I offered to bring the pizza back because out of a medium pizza one slice was eaten, and no one else could eat it because of the way that it tasted. And I was offered $15.00 credit, I then requested a refund. He proceeded to tell me that I have no valid reason and I was just pissed off when I came in. The manager of this establishment is a ARROGANT man and shouldn't speak to anyone as he did. This is the only Giordanos anywhere near my house, and I will never ever go back to this location. Well, my wife and I have different tastes, and we wanted to split a thin crust pizza... We ordered a head of time when we knew we were about 45 minutes away and when we got there we were sat immediately. The pizza came out fairly quick but that was definitely because we ordered ahead. I felt bad for our waitress. They seemed very understaffed and she was waiting on most of the tables. We ordered the sausage and pepperoni and one Hawaiian. Omigosh!! My first time here and the pizza is so amazing!! It takes a bit for the pizza to come out because it is a deep dish but wow, I'm sitting here eating the classic with sausage, cheese, peppers and mushrooms and onions. Chicago is known for it's deep dish pizza, and so a place like Giordano's will attract plenty of customers on the City's merits alone. I was afraid that a place like Giordano's might capitalize on that knowledge, become lazy, and pump out mediocre pizzas at a premium price, the way so many people take advantage of the sushi craze. I'm glad to report that my fears were unfounded. The pizzas here are always delicious, made with fresh ingredients, just the right amount of sauce and cheese, and a crust that is soft and doughy where it needs to be. I've had a few substandard deep dish pizzas from places that use way too much sauce, drowning out the flavors of the veggies (Oh yeah, I don't eat meat on pizza; I also put ketchup on hot dogs), or somehow botch the crust, making it too flakey and dry. But Giordano's skips all that. They've perfected the technique of preparing a pleasantly balanced meal completely contained in one towering disc of delicious ingredients. Service is prompt and friendly, and the dining room is clean and casual. Only draw back is that this place isn't Gino's East. Also, the wait can be a bit long, but I can't imagine a time when it wouldn't be worth it. read more

But this is Chicago's singular contribution. Heavy, stuffed with cheese, with mouth-tingling spices in the sauce, and perfect, standard crust. Of course it's not healthy! It's a meal for special occasions. Generally, I'm not into chain restaurants, but Giordano's has figured out how to replicate the magic. So go to whichever one is closer, or has the easiest parking. We were staying at the Harrahs in Joliet and the hubby was craving a slice of authentic Giordano's pizza. This spot was only about 20 minutes away;tucked away in a quaint little shopping strip. We were greeted immediately by an enthusiastic host and our order was taken shortly thereafter.. Since the hubby likes ONLY cheese pizza and I'm a "loaded pizza" gal, I opted for the "Southside" Italian Beef. As always, neither selection disappointed.. The only thing I ever go in for is stuffed (deep dish) pie (pizza) and it's never a disappointment. I'd say go with Italian beef. It's my favorite. It usually does take about 30 minutes which is the right if not less than expected wait for a deep dish ,and yes like any authentic Chicago pie it's pricey ,because your paying for that great taste,and authenticity of it. My only complaint for this location is whenever I go dine in the server lady is a bit pushy on up selling everything , and a bit slow. She usually also talks a bit to much for my liking and , babbles about crazy stuff so watch out for that Italian woman. Stopped by at 9:15 PM for a meal at Giordano's. The manager asked if I had called in an order and we said we were there for dinner. He told me there we closed. I found this interesting, as the hours on the door said 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Then he said something about "winter hours" and "check the website." I have had good experiences at other locations, but can't believe they refused to seat me 45 minutes before the closing time posted on the door. Our deep dish pizza was amazing compared to other restaurants that serve deep dish. It is a nice place to go for special occasions or for a family night. Highly recommended. Worth the money. 2 stars because of the poor service and rude manager. I came in for a online order and I had a clippers coupon on my phone. Walking in I asked if they could just look at my coupon off my phone and give me the $5 off keep in mind my order was $63. The manager was super rude and said he could not take the coupon since it wasn't up in person. The coupon had no barcode??? Why did that matter??? Manager is Ridiculous, he could've made something work. The host was also super rude and did not try to help me out whatsoever. The food was great though. A bit cold but I made the best out of it. Horrible customer service. Horrible manager. This also wasn't the first time having problems with this ridiculously rude absurd manager.
