While we waited we talked with the host who ended up being the owner and chef. We explained that it was our anniversary and that we love the food at Capri. He said he would do his best to get us seated ASAP and we thanked him. Two minutes later he treated us to 2 glasses of complimentary wine while we waited and shared some of the history about the restaurant. We were seated in shorter than expected wait and were waited on by very friendly and attentive staff. We had the bra joule for an appetizer and it was the best we have ever tasted. My lamb was everything I could ask for and my wife's chicken vessuzio as always tasted like heaven. Didn't have a drink but sat at the bar as I was dining alone and chatted with the bartender who was great, and I have to give a shout out to the server who stopped by and put the idea of the spicy red sauce in my head. Within minutes, Pete came outside personally to let us know two seats had opened at the bar. That level of attentiveness matters. Even on one of the busiest nights imaginable, they engaged with guests with the same warmth and attentiveness we've experienced during quieter weekday visits. In the background, Morgan was crafting cocktails with precision while still finding time for a familiar nod that quietly says, "Good to see you again." That kind of hospitality cannot be faked. We ordered our favorite dish, the Lobster & Shrimp Rigatoni and once again it was exceptional. Rich, consistent, perfectly prepared, and easily one of the best dishes in Naperville. Without us even asking, the kitchen thoughtfully split the entrée onto two plates. That small gesture perfectly captures what makes Vai's special... attention to detail seems woven into everything they do. From the fire outside to the flowers inside, from the cocktails to the consistency of the food, Vai's creates an atmosphere that feels welcoming, polished, and sincere all at once. I hate when people at the restaurant say everything is good. Not these young ladies. They made some sound suggestions which we followed. French onion soup and the steak frites were both excellent and priced well IMO. They have a really good whiskey/bourbon selection with a few hard to find bottles. I settled on a Blantons neat. They had Pappy, but I'm not wasting money on that anymore. Food came out quickly and we ate and watched a baseball game. The locals at the bar told us about their membership program where I guess for a small mo they fee you get a bottle of wine and a charcuterie plate once a month. Seemed like a pretty good deal. I don't live anywhere near there, but if I did I'd certainly join. In any case, if you live anywhere close, this is definitely a worthwhile restaurant to visit. Seems like there were quite a few singles there as well if you are looking to meet someone. I have no idea what the dating scene is like in Lemont, but this might be a good spot to try.
