Had my first taste of AUTHENTIC Chicago deep dish pizza while visiting one of my best friends. And boy... was that thing..... authentic. I'm drooling just thinking about it. Long wait, but we were able to place our order and explore downtown Naperville to kill time. It took about an hour for the pizza to be ready, and 45 minutes for us to be seated. My sister was in the Chicago area so I had to introduce her to deep dish pizza! I personally don't eat pizza so I had the spaghetti and I'm all honesty the sauce was not very great. It's the only vegan item on the menu so that's what I went with. I've had the spaghetti with meat sauce before, though, and that was very good. The service was average. The waitress rarely came over to fill our water/drinks and did not come to see how we were doing that often. I've had great experiences with takeout, however. When I am in Chicago I always go visit Giordano's. I have had all the deep dish in Chicago and hands down Giordano's is the best. We went to this Giordano's in downtown Naperville. We had Tom as our waiter extraordinaire as he did everything there. He is hands down one of the best servers we have ever had. Extremely caring towards all his guests and takes the extra step to really get to know his customer base. We had an amazing visit thanks to Tom as he took care of all of our needs. Next time we are in Naperville we will definitely go back to visit Tom and enjoy our deep dish pizza. read more

I recently had all my family members visiting for Christmas, as they wanted to try the traditional "Chicago deep pizza" We arrived shortly after 5 pm like 5:05 or so, and we had to wait about 1:10 minutes to be seated, all this time tried to keep my family at peace telling them it will all worth the wait, finally seated and placed our ordered Immediately, another hour went by to get our pizzas, Special Deep dish", the "Bacon BBQ" just to received them all "Warmish" and got cold very shortly after, when it was served we have to wait another 5+ minutes to get Silverware, (member of my family had to get up and go to the counter to ask for silverware), when we finally try them, the Flavor was Mediocre at best, I'm not a person who complains about food all the time, I would have forgiven them, All the shortcomings if they were super busy, I saw at a couple of them leaning on the counter a couple times for like what looks to me a down time for those individuals, I was even thinking they were short staffed in the kitchen. but even them looks not too busy at all, the waiter never came back to ask if we needed anything, and when we got the check we resorted to paying and leaving,.......overall almost $100+ for a MEDIOCRE pizza/service,....Save your time and $ and go somewhere else!! Appetizers were very good. However the deep dish pizza was possibly the most bland pizza I've ever had? More bland than your average take home oven pizza. Very disappointed I had to spend $40 for a pizza that I couldn't taste. To summarize it didn't taste bad, it tasted like nothing. read more

Let me start by saying I love pizza! So when's got the opportunity to visit my customers in Chicago I knew I had to make time to try Giordano's. It was a Monday evening not crowded at all. They have small bar. We were immediately greeted and seated as we walked in. I signed up for the newsletter before going (Thanks Yelp) and received a email for free cheesy garlic bread. It was delicious! We ordered the deep dish with pepperoni. The 35 minute wait was tortuous! When it finally came out I was expecting it to be piping hot but it wasn't. Perhaps they let it cool for a minute which I didn't mind because I would have still eaten it and burned my mouth. It was 2 of us bs we ordered the small which was more than enough. The food speaks for itself. Deep dish pie with a nice crust could make any swearing sailor swoon away with the music of the sea. After I was seated, many waiters and waitresses passed by my table. Then someone was seated right after me and I was about to warn them it might take awhile. To my amazement, a manager screamed at the hostess to get that guy served while I made the "what the heck" eye contact with him. He sheepishly looked away and the person who arrived after me was immediately served. I waited another 5 minutes or so and same thing happened, nothing. I was about to get up and leave and a waitress finally greeted me after the guy who showed up after me got his drink and order taken. I was there for almost an hour and a half. Almost 20 minutes of it was just waiting for someone to wait on me. To insult my experience even more, I got maybe 3 bits of sausage in my pie. They really made their money on me on that one. Ugh! Keep in mind, this was 8PM when there were maybe 5 tables seated. Everyone leaving had a smile on their faces. I have been in love with Chicago style deep dish pizza since I can remember so I really wanted to Giordano's while visiting. One recent afternoon, I came in for lunch and had a very reasonably priced combo meal with a personal sized deep dish pizza that was plenty for one person. The Caesar's salad alone filled me up. However, I felt that the pizza was not hot enough because the cheese seemed to be stiff and therefore, didn't mingle with the other ingredients. I could feel the grainy texture of the cheese which was unexpected; it had the consistency of string cheese and was not melted and gooey like I am used to. Maybe West Coast versions of this pizza are different? The service was good and I was in and out of there fairly quickly. However, I was also disappointed in being seated along the side of a narrow entry way to the larger dining room. I traveled all the way from California and this was the spot I decided on to finally try some authentic Chicago style pizza so it would have been nice to sit somewhere that had more atmosphere. When I come back, I will most likely try the other well known spots since this one didn't wow me. read more

I was visiting the Chicago area so of course I had to get Chicago Deep Dish Pizza. This is not the first time I have had Chicago Deep Dish Pizza but it has been at least a decade since I had it. I went to Giordano's knowing that it was a pizza parlor chain. I was impressed with the food. The fried calamari was not overdone and the deep dish pizza was wonderful. I was glad there were leftovers so that i could try it cold and it passed the cold pizza test the next morning. It was busy, there were several very large (15 plus people) tables and I wondered if that was going to cause delays in getting our food and service. After a few years tried ordering from Giordano's again to mix up the pizza rotation. First time they delivered the wrong pizza, feeding hungry kids pizza they don't eat does not work. Second time they forgot half our order. The driver was supposed to deliver the rest, hour and a half later no food delivery and the restaurant is closed. Our server was Teresa and let me say she was very good! I saw her walking around serving different tables and she was still able to give us everything we needed in a timely manner. We started out with a large amount of appetizers including house salad, Wisconsin cheese curds, a starting platter, and calamari. All of these appetizers were satisfactory, we got a deep dish pizza, and it was very good. My first time having deep dish and it didn't disappoint. When talking about Giordano's, it's almost impossible to not talk about Lou Malnati's as well. Both of these iconic Chicago pizzas are great and it's really tough to choose which one of them is better. In my opinion, both of them are winners in their own way. Lou Malnati's if you like a nice buttery flavor and a strong aroma from your ingredients and Giordano's if you like your pizza a little wetter, fresher tasting, and lighter. I wouldn't mind having either one any day of the week and my special stuffed crust pizza and tropic delight pizza I had on my last trip were both excellent. This was complemented by a very addictive cheese garlic tomato bread as an appetizer. I've gone to several Giordano's locations now and the food never disappoints. read more

I'm not going to lie, the food was good. However the service was crap.we ordered our pizza, and the went on to wait for an hour. When we finally got the text that our table was ready, no pizza was waiting at our table. Our waiter didn't even offer us drinks we had to ask for them. We waited for maybe 10 minutes for our drinks, still no pizza. We were just watching the employees sitting, chatting, most certainly not doing their job. Came in at a busy time they offered us a seat at the bar which was fine. Caesar gave great service, while Felicia was a great anchor to service. I feel bad because the building was hot. The servers are sweating through there clothing. Needless to say building management needs to stop being cheap and pay to have new AC put in. I pick giordano's over Lou's any day. The difference is the dough they use. My favorite item to get is the spinach deep dish pizza. It's amazing tried it other places but only giordano's makes it right. Also there Parmesan fries are great, I love them as well as my little cousins. Cheesy garlic bread is tasty & baked just right. The super veggie pizza would be good too without artichoke hearts in my opinion, makes the pizza to salty to enjoy all the awesomeness of deep dish pizza. Well I have had this version of deep dish 3 times and that is probably enough for me. I got it from this establishment and honestly props to the underpaid workers having to work with low quality ingredients because they did their best and I can honestly say that some of the Customers seemed to come into the place with the intent of having a bad experience. Of the three times only one was actually sit down in the restaurant. I ate and left with great haste. Not because I disliked the food (if you are going here you know what you are going to be eating, really bad pizza) but because some persons felt it was necessary to berate the waitstaff about the quality or wait time for their meal. Maybe it was bad maybe it wasn't but come on... There are better ways of dealing with that situation then yelling at a member of staff in a public place. But yea the rating has nothing to do with that. It's Giordano's it's heavy on the oil light on the quality. I have a love/meh relationship with Giordano's. Sometimes I really really crave for it and want to eat their pizza all day long. Other times I've just had enough of it. My husband and I are still debating whether the meat and more meat deep dish pizza is frozen or not. You decide for yourself. Lou Malnatti's is just around the corner too so that's something to think about. For living in Naperville almost all my life, it's actually shocking that I've only eaten at this Giordano's a few times. It's a nice size restaurant and I totally forgot that they have a private party room until my mom and sister decided to host my baby shower here! I've always been a fan of their pizza, but their stuffed deep dish just isn't my fave. Don't get me wrong, it's still very tasty, I just prefer my deep dish pizza from elsewhere. If I'm coming to Giordano's I actually prefer their thin crust. I like it because it's not super thin like a cracker or some of those brick-oven pizzas, but it's not entirely breaded either. For those who love it really thin, they do offer extra-thin crust pizza. The sauce is delicious and toppings are fresh! I'm simple and usually go for just cheese though. Maybe sausage or pepperoni if I'm feeling crazy. The service at this Giordano's is great! My baby shower in their party room was fabulous. They allowed people to come early and set up, had all the food ready to go buffet style, and helped with garbage cleanup during presents and while people were eating. I didn't organize the event so I'm not sure on the specifics of party packages, but I know my mom was able to get pizza, pasta, salad, and wine for the group (about 40 people) at a pretty reasonable price. They allowed us to bring in our own decorations and desserts which was great as well. I know us Chicagoans are passionate about our pizza, but I say come here for the thin crust, wine, and great service! I'd also keep them in mind for your private event needs. read more

Food-4/5 This pizza is very tasty and fresh. I got the large super veggie pizza for $32 which is quite expensive even compared to other pizza giants such as Lou Malnati's. The pizza was very good with lots of topping. It tasted like beggars pizza if one has ever had that before. Giordanos is just a more expensive version of that with fresher ingredient. My mom liked Lou Malnati's better. Service/Vibes-4/5 Clean inside. Gave us plates and pepper and cheese packets which was nice. 1 star off because they forgot to cut our pizza. read more

If you want Chicago-style pizza, you got it, but honestly I don't know why you would go here when Lou Malnati's is around the corner. They put way too much sauce and it's not as tasty. Do not waste your time eating here because the service was terrible. We made a reservation for 5 adults and 5 kids, were placed in the backroom and were ready to order immediately (bc we had hungry kids). After waiting 10 minutes for our server, we placed the whole order, to make it easiest for him. The server brought half of the food and some of the drinks. After 15 minutes we had to hunt down our server for the rest of our drinks. We then asked for the check, tipping very well as we knew our kids were being loud.
