Came here for deep dish and wasn't impressed as much. It was a bit doughy and flavor wasn't what I was expecting. Service was nice but I have also tried other places so maybe my expectation was too high. Overall, did not meet my expectations.

Small deep dish pizza: meat & meat and BBQ chicken
Mel J.

We arrived around 3:15pm and waited about 10 minutes to get seated. We immediately put in the order since we knew that deep dish pizza takes time to be cooked. We ordered small size half meat & meat and half bbq chicken deep dish pizza and 45 mins later the food came out. We love that the base crust was still firm despite the hefty toppings on top. - meat & meat: delicious! We like that it had good fresh tomato sauce and there were lots of meat toppings - BBQ chicken: the sauce was a little too sweet for my liking but the overall dish tasted good. And there was generous amount of chicken pieces. There was a long line when we left after our meal. So, if you don't to wait too long, maybe come in during odd hours (between lunch and dinner time).

We tried this place while visiting Chicago to experience its famous deep-dish pizza. We ordered the Meat and More Meat specialty pizza. It was pretty much what we expected--hearty and filling, though a bit too salty for our taste. Good, but nothing particularly memorable. Service was fast, friendly, and attentive. The restaurant has a classic American sports bar atmosphere with plenty of TVs, making it a nice spot to enjoy a meal and watch a game.

This Giordano's location is my go to spot when I'm in Chicago. Chicago is an Amtrak hub, so when I'm taking Amtrak on long distance routes for my Roaming Rails YouTube channel, this is where I spend my time between trains as it's a short walk away. The Pepperoni deep dish stuffed is my favorite. It's so good that I crave it at times when I haven't been to Chicago for a while. Flakey delicious crust stuffed with a generous portion of melted cheese and pepperoni. It's my favorite style of deep dish pizza, and other places that do stuffed deep dish aren't quite as good. If you are going to the Chicago Amtrak station for any reason, do yourself a favor and make time for pizza at Giordano's. Great food, kind but stretched service. It takes 45min for pizza to cook so the key u order the pizza when you get on the waitlist. We were seated in about10 min ( Sunday night 7pm) . Ordered salad and drinks , got those , then the pizza came shortly after.

THE SPECIAL - DEEP DISH Sausage, mushrooms, green peppers & onions.
David C.

Hate to say this, but this Giordano's pizza was seriously disappointing. Staff was great, location was great -- pizza was...not great. I dined solo and ordered a small deep dish Special (Sausage, mushrooms, green peppers & onions). Size was fine, good enough for 2-3 ppl, but it lacked in flavor, ingredients, and structure. The "toppings" were visible with each bite, but I sure couldn't taste them. Also, are deep dish pizzas supposed to have a liquidity puddle under the crust? This lunch turned into one of those sad meals where you feel obligated to finish your food, but don't really enjoy much of it. Disappointing since I was visiting town from CA and wanted to experience the famous Chicago deep dish. Oh well, on to the next!

Honestly this is my first visit to Chicago. My wife and daughter recommended to eat at Giordano's for their deep dish pizza. When I came in their was no line. We sat down immediately. I was ready to order one of those iconic deep dish but the waiter said it would take 45 min to make. That is wild. If that's the case they need to tell their patrons to order ahead before they come in. So I ordered a Chicago Classic tavern style crust instead and that took about 30 min. And a coworker of mine ordered a personal Margherita thin crust pizza. Both pizza came out as ordered but were not hot. They were warm to touch. The pizza sauce is the key to this place. That is some fresh tomatoes they use for their pizzas. I recommend it to come for the experience and to try the sauce it's unique. Very flavorful, fresh and deep. The atmosphere is like any other sports bar feel. Very active and vibrant.

Sharon E.

If you come here, definitely stick to the deep dish and fries--both were great! However, the thin crust chicken pizza left a lot to be desired. Service and wait times were average--though it took close to 35 minutes for them to make the thin crust pizza, even though the restaurant wasn't very crowded. They gave us a heads-up that it would take time, but 35 minutes is a stretch. Still, it was a scorching hot day, so we didn't mind hanging out inside to cool off for a bit!

The service was excellent. The flavor of the pizza was good however, I do feel like toppings that I had at the other place () was a bit better but I did enjoy my pizza. Crossed deep dish off my list; don't have to do that again

I visited this location for lunch during a recent Amtrak layover in Chicago. To say this location is amazing is an understatement, as it is a 5 to 10 minute walk from Union Station. I had the lunch special, which consists of a personal deep dish or thin crust pizza and your choice of a house salad, Caesar salad, cup of soup, regular or parmesan garlic fries for $10.99. The special is daily and lasts until 3 PM. I got the deep dish pepperoni pizza and parmesan garlic fries. They were both delicious and I was so stuffed after 2 slices of pizza that I kept the leftovers for dinner. The service was fast and I barely waited for my food despite it being lunchtime. I liked the look and atmosphere of the restaurant. The restaurant is quite large and didn't seem crowded. I would like to come back with friends and get a regular size pizza!

My first time trying a deep dish pizza and it was not heavy which I enjoyed! The service was great and the restaurant felt cozy!

We came in for an early dinner (3:45pm) and were sat quickly. Christian was our server and incredibly attentive. Right off the bat, he was upfront and said if we ordered a deep dish it would take about 45 min to cook, which we appreciated. We had heard to be prepared for a long wait so we came in knowing. So we enjoyed our beers and relaxed while waiting on our food. When our food did come out it was piping hot. We got the 10", which is good for 2-3 people. I was only able to eat one slice before feeling full. My partner had two so we had like 2 or 3 slices to take home with us. The pizza is pretty pricey in my opinion but I love a Chicago deep dish, so worth it for a stop in.

Bennett L.

Pretty good deep dish! We got a Chicago Tavern Style and then a Stuffed Deep Dish to share amongst 4 people. The Deep Dish was made fresh though, so do expect to wait around ~45 minutes for it to come out. The Chicago Tavern Style came out first, and honestly, it tasted like a frozen thin crust pizza I would reheat from the grocery store. It wasn't anything particularly special, and I wouldn't get it again. The Deep Dish was good though; it was very rich and cheesy, and I liked the texture of the crust. I really don't think it can be directly compared to a New York style pizza and should be categorized as it's own type of dish. Overall, for a Chicago chain, I think the deep dish was pretty solid, especially given that I haven't had deep dish in over 7 years.

Pequod's Pizza near DePaul is definitely a busy spot! While it looks modest from the outside, it…read moreactually spans two floors. It was the perfect setup to book a movie across the street and have a reservation laid out ahead of time here. We were seated upstairs, which had a cute tavern vibe complete with pop music playing and sports on the TVs. I started off with a Haymarket Honey Ale, which was very light with a delicious yeasty aftertaste. Once we put our food order in, it took just 5 minutes for the cheese corners to arrive. They came out shaped like triangle nuggets with a light golden crust and a wet marinara on the side. They didn't look super impressive at first glance, but as soon as you bite into one, the cheese pull is impressive and tastes great--like a thicker, elevated mozzarella stick! About 30 minutes after ordering, the main event arrived: a deep dish pizza with sausage, mushroom, and giardiniera (Note: I was told that sometimes it can take a long time for the cook so just be mindful in case you come through starving.) The crust was buttery with crispy bits, a little doughy, and those legendary caramelized, charred edges were absolute perfection--the real star of the show that felt like a total hug in my mouth! The sausage was so good, with a cook that mirrored the crust with just a slight crisp edge, while the giardiniera added a nice touch of acidity to balance out the fat. The toppings were evenly spread, and after two slices of a large pie, I was completely stuffed. As a new resident, this was my very first Chicago deep dish experience, and I very much enjoyed it. Pequod's completely lived up to the hype for me!

As a fellow foodie, I am always looking for new spots to try--whether they are in Chicago, the surrounding Chicagoland area, or outside the state of Illinois. I honestly feel as though you cannot order from Pequod's and not get a pan pizza! Pan pizza is the entire essence of Pequod's; in my opinion, it is almost a crime not to order it. I ended up ordering their 7" personal pan pizza for lunch on a day when I was craving either pizza or pho. Whether using Grubhub or Uber Eats, I love ordering online for the convenience and the ability to schedule a pickup time. Most of the time, my orders are ready--or nearly ready--upon arrival. By the time I reached the restaurant, my order was almost finished. If you are someone who orders online as faithfully as I do, just keep an eye on the tracker for the notification that your food is ready. Because of this smooth experience, the likelihood of me ordering online from this location again is very high. I will warn you: if you are driving to this location, the curb sits high outside the storefront, so be mindful of that if you have a smaller vehicle. Parking is pay-to-park and shared by other businesses along Clybourn Ave. Remember to give yourself plenty of space when parallel parking; it can get tight since this restaurant has a consistent flow of customers moving in and out. During my brief visit, I noticed customers either carpooling or being dropped off, which I highly recommend if you plan on visiting this Pequod's location. Now, as for my food! "A cute little pan pizza," was my first thought after receiving the box from the employee. It was so adorable that looking at the box made me almost regret not ordering a larger size. However, its actual appearance took me by surprise once I opened it. After unwrapping the pizza from the aluminum foil, I saw its charred, caramelized cheese ring around the edge, a heavy crushed-tomato and herb sauce on top, and a stringy mozzarella pull in the center that was sticking to the foil. That sight alone made me salivate in anticipation of my first bite. I brought out gloves for this because I didn't dine in. Instead, I just pulled into a park and enjoyed this "cute little pan pizza" from Pequod's, which tasted incredible! The rich, tangy tomato sauce packed a serious punch that made me smile with enjoyment as I carefully avoided getting it on my hospital scrubs. Don't be deceived by the look of those charred edges, either--they are completely edible and delicious! You don't need to worry even if you have sensitive teeth. After finishing the last bite, I wiped my mouth and declared, "That was good!". If you are like me in search for something light, then I highly recommend their 7" personal pan pizza because it will leave you satisfied. In closing, I had a great ordering experience, as indicated in my review of Pequod's Pizza. Thanks to LATRYGUY for bringing this to my attention; I am happy to share my endorsement of this business with the Yelp community. I also want to point out that I am connected to 13 quality Yelpers who have already shared their excellent feedback about this location. I didn't mind waiting because it gave me and my partner a chance to look over the menu more and ask our server for recs, to which he recommend the Lou Malnatis salad. This salad honestly blew my expectations and I can see why it's such a crowd favorite - the roasted salami bits and gorgonzola cheese provided a really nice savory contrast with the sweet vinaigrette they used. When it comes to the deep dish pizza however, I think deep dish style just isn't for me. You can taste all the ingredients (the cheese, tomato sauce and sausage) but they don't really come together in a cohesive manner. I had one bite and I didn't really feel compelled to take another after, it reminded me of my own home cooking when I would add too much tomato sauce and overcooked the cheese on a lasagna. I'm not saying deep dish pizza or Lou Malnatis is bad necessarily, the service was friendly and attentive, I just think a regular pizza is more my speed.

Then we split the Caesar salad and a pizza with half sausage/olive and mushroom/onion. Yeah, the pizza did blow me away- the crust is perfectly crunchy and so so thin. I wouldn't even describe it as traditional tavern style pizza because I think it's a really crunchy crust- but it's definitely wayyyyy better than Dimi Dimi (that's the most comparable crust imo). The sauce has a slight spice to it, and the whole pizza just feels very layered in terms of flavorful profile. The sausage was also spicy but very good and I absolutely loved the mushroom and onion duo. Sometimes when you go to a certain pizza places, it doesn't feel worth it, but all the ingredients felt elevated here and the pizza had an elevated taste. The Caesar salad had a nice light dressing and a ton of cheese. I wish that the lettuce had a bit more of a crunch to it, but they seemed to use butter lettuce. The inside feels like a classic Italian joint, but it's very small and simple Overall, so glad that I finally went and although it's not a place that I would go regularly because I live far, I would definitely come back!
