Pizza & Salad Buffet
Keith H.

I've been coming to Gio's since it was Lembos and before that Vaccaros. It has sadly changed so much of the years. The pizza is nothing like it once was, the other entrees are still very similar. I got the pizza & salad buffet this trip. My wife got the 2 piece chicken dinner. Service was ok, nothing out of the ordinary. The restaurant was busy for a Monday evening. Just wish the pizza was fantastic like the Vaccaro's & Lembos days. It's not the same anymore sadly.

Just ground meat in between.

Ordered lasagna with marinara takeout. Sorely disappointed. Looked old. And there was no ricotta or any cheese between layers.

Eggplant parm not electrical tape.

HORRIBLE! The food wa horrible made wrong and the owner is a gigantic prick ! Worst experience ever ! When we asked for the proper food to be prepared he refused and then refused a refund on a meal that was NOT TOUCHED AT ALL. He then made a scene ! This is eggplant parm it's breaded and fried this is not acceptable at all. That stuff you see that's the grease. Disgusting

Door from the parking lot.

I had a gift card and a hungry family so we wanted to try Gio's out for dinner! Despite our visit being a week day, it was pretty packed! We waited our 25 minutes and then were seated. We called ahead to see if they had gluten free options available and she said yes but based on availability. When we arrived, we asked again and our waitress checked with the kitchen and yes they did! Quick side note, when was the last you saw a salad bar?!? We each got a small helping before our food came out. It felt new because of the pandemic , but we knew this was necessary. The staff was very friendly and was working really hard with being understaffed. Our god come out and it smelled and looked fantastic. The pizza was great, the GF crust was one of the better ones I've had. The sauces were very rich with flavor and complimented the pasta dishes well. The leftover were enjoyed by us in the following days. Everyone in the restaurant seemed to all be enjoying their food and having a good time. A fun and friendly atmosphere with great food will have us coming back for sure!!

From the minute we walked in to the restaurant we were greeted with complimentary champagne and escorted back to the kitchen. There we sat at a small table, directly in front of the Chef's station. Everyone in the kitchen was so kind and attentive. We had our own private waiter, who catered to our every need. We chose the 5 course Chef's table experience and it was outstanding. The food was exceptional; from the appetizers, salad, pasta, palate cleanser, entree and desert!!! We highly recommend the Duck Ravioli. The Chef herself, was professional, creative and attentive. Her talent for paring interesting and unique ingredients is like nothing we have ever experienced. If you have the opportunity you should absolutely book this event for your next celebration. HINT: you have to contact the manager to book the Chef's table - make sure to as for Chef Emma and request Michael to be your waiter!!!!

I got the Panzanella with chicken and it was divine. Very filling. The bottle prices were excellent. My husband loved his dish, which was the risotto special... I believe it had seafood in it. Everyone really enjoyed their dishes and the portions were enough. They had an excellent bar menu, though we just stuck with wine. Our server was very attentive and had lots of recommendations. I loved seeing a traditional carbonara on the menu as well... Often, a restaurant will just make this with a cream sauce and call it "carbonara", which is so wrong that it makes my Italian ancestors turn over in their graves. Though I did not get the carbonara this time, I will certainly try it next time. We also saw waiters preparing the table side, Cacio E Pepe, which looked really fun, but ultimately, I felt it was priced more for the experience than the actual food so I did not get that. We had reservations at 8:15 but arrived at 7:45 (planning on waiting at the bar for our friends to arrive ) and they were able to seat us right away. We also got a welcome bubbly drink upon arrival which was such an unexpected, fun, and friendly touch! The servers are very professional, but down to earth. I would absolutely love to come back and try the chef's table.

I drive past San Marino almost daily but had never stopped in. Italian usually isn't something I go…read moreout of my way for, but after seeing their homemade fettuccine Alfredo featured in a video, it basically summoned me. Our Sunday dinner started a little rocky. It took 5+ minutes to see our server, the kitchen was apparently backed up, and the Watermelon Mojito advertised on the new cocktail menu wasn't available. The Long Island, however, was excellent. From there, things began to improve. The bread was light and airy with an herb dipping oil, and the house salad was fresh mixed greens with a really good house-made Italian dressing. The Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo was the star. Fresh, al dente pasta with a rich, creamy, garlicky sauce and a well-seasoned, crispy chicken cutlet. Absolutely delicious. Melissa loved her Chicken Parmesan with gnocchi. When we asked for extra red sauce, they made it fresh and brought out a warm bowl a few minutes later -- BIG points for that. Our server also became much more attentive and personable once things settled down. A shaky start, but San Marino definitely finished strong. After driving past it countless times for years, I'm already looking forward to stopping again.

I was glad I did and we were seated right away a little before 6:30 PM. Unfortunately, it took a very long time for anyone to take our order even for drinks and we ended up ordering all of our food and drinks at the same time. After another 45 minutes ( over an hour since we had been seated ) we got our salads. At that time we were told that the kitchen had lost our ticket and that they were just at that moment starting our appetizers and entrees. After over 90 minutes there we got our appetizers and about 10 minutes after that we got our meals. The burrata bruschetta appetizer was delicious and the fried ravioli appetizer was very good too. Two at our table ordered the chicken Marsala and said it was good , and one ordered Cheese Ravioli which was good, and I ordered the Chicken Parm dinner which was good, but too dry and needed more sauce. The portions were very large and we feel the prices were fair. The manager did discount our meal 10% because of the wait and did give the table free cannoli to make up for the wait. The chef came out and apologized as well. I will go again and hopefully the wait won't be as long!! The food is worth going back for and my rating would be 4 stars if not for the wait!!!
