I will start by saying their service is EXCELLENT! The staff is super friendly from the people that work the counter, to the servers, and sushi chef. Very attentive servers and always so happy. Finally, if you are a dessert person-save room. This is my and my wife's favorite place to have Japanese and Chinese food. First off, the employees are absolutely great. Always coming around to refill drinks and to check on you, but without being annoying about it. It's great that they also have a BYOB policy (most places do by default, it's just that few people know about it). We went with a big group of friends once, and each couple brought their own wine or bottle, which we all split up and shared with our meals. The sushi is the highlight for my wife and me. We love sushi, and this place, besides being the closest sushi establishment to our home, has some of the freshest and tastiest that we have had in Lancaster and surrounding communities. Their bento boxes are great lunch items, offering just the right combination of delicious food for a really reasonable price. Some other highlights are their General Tso's Chicken, Fried Wontons, and Seaweed Salad. We came here after visiting some family in the area after seeing the Pope in Phily!. We wanted some good Sushi and Sashimi and this place did not disappoint. We are from New York City and honestly this place rivals many of the great restaurants in the city in terms of quality, taste and presentation. I loved their eel sushi. Sushi is very good here. Every type of roll is good, especially the vegetarian ones. Aside from sushi, the regular meals are very good also. Everything is fresh made to order and very flavorful. We stopped for lunch because of the bento box choices. I went with chicken teriyaki. My spouse wanted the beef teriyaki to compare it to his favorite beef teriyaki from another restaurant in another state that has closed leaving only a memory of a good dish. Beef is not offered, too expensive! The box was preceded by miso soup, very good. The box was nicely resented with a seaweed salad in the center rather than the typical salad. Our choices were Bento E which allows you to pick your dumpling, pick your roll, and then pick your protein. The box contained a chicken breast split open over the tasty sauce and some veggies underneath it. Rice was in 1 corner. The roll was in the other corner, dumplings were at the top, seaweed salad in the very middle, and a nice assortment of veggie tempura in the bottom corner. It was all excellent, tasty, and a huge value for the price paid and the different foods that we got. Service was very friendly. We topped it off with a chilled Riesling from the Wine and Spirits store next door. Our first time here but it won't be the last time! read more

Ginmaya ceases to outperform any other Chinease restaurant in the area in our opinion. We always go there when we want some good takeout, and they really do value their loyal customers. Sometimes they will throw in a container of soup, an extra egg roll or more fortune cookies. They also give A LOT of food. We normally have enough to have it two times! The staff are very kind and personable, and always ask how our family is doing. They really are a good business. I highly suggest trying one of their bento boxes. You can choose a type of dumpling, sushi/vegetable roll, and your type of main entree. It always comes with miso soup as well. One little money saving tip...if you go over lunch, or I believe before 3, you can always get a bento box at lunch pricing and it has the same amount of food as a dinner portion for like 3 dollars less. All in all the venue is clean and fairly easy to find, and I recommend you take a trip here very soon! read more

This was our first visit to Ginmiya, situated in bargain-oriented Manor Shopping plaza. We had high hopes since the restaurant is closer to our house than our local Japanese standby, Wasabi. The staff were friendly, the menu has most of the hard to find Japanese classics, and our 4 y/o daughter absolutely loved the fish tank. We ordered the Americanized version of nabeyaki udon, which is a seafood, vegetable noodle soup, served hot. It was surprisingly chock full of shrimp and scallops and though mild in flavor. And of course, we ordered several pieces of nigiri sushi, but were disappointed. The tuna was the worst we've had in Lancaster, tasting almost cooked with a texture of dried fish. Of the four selections, the salmon, thankfully, was fresh and appropriately melt-in-your mouth, but the chef spoiled the flavor by placing a miniature lemon slice atop the fish. Given the rave comments from other reviewers, maybe Ginmiya had an off night, but since truly good sushi is so hard to find, I wonder if other reviewers just don't know good sushi from bad. We'll return to Ginmiya and try other dishes, but 3-stars is the most I can bring myself to give a Japanese restaurant that served up sub-par sushi. read more

Really poor quality, over the top greasy. Sushi is below average. I've tried a few times thinking I just needed to try a different roll, but I'm disappointed every time and have resolved to give it a rest. My stomach was turning from the overly greasy house special fried rice, and I was hit in the eye with hot oil after biting into the veggie tempura, which had a flavorless batter. Really pleased with our whole experience here! First, we ordered Treasure Island for an appetizer: cubed fresh fish, avocados and ponzu sauce--great! I don't even know where to begin singing praises for this place. I just moved to town and needed a new go to for my Chinese fix. This place went above and beyond in terms of quality, flavor and value. First, I got the steamed dumplings and they were wonderful. Perfectly cooked and plenty of flavoring and seasoning which is something I found can sometimes be lacking in dumplings. Next, the fried cheese and crab meat wonton, not entirely what I expected, but delicious and fried nicely nonetheless. I also got the chicken and rice combo with an egg roll and it was delicious too! I have eaten at Ginmya several times since I moved close to the Manor Shopping Center area. I have always gotten excellent takeout and have never been disappointed. I Love their classic's like Chicken & Broc and General Tso's.... I am not really into Sushi, although I have heard their's is great too. I go Ginmiya for the sushi, so I cant speak to any of their other dishes. The hot and sour soup is delicious. The sushi chefs are very friendly and make some quality rolls and present them beautifully. Iv'e never had a roll here that disappointed me. My husband and I have been coming here for years, and it is always delicious! The sushi is always very clean and fresh tasting, and the soups are incredibly good! Went here with a hot navy sailor on a Tuesday evening for our fourth date. This date went much better than my last date here, which ended with a threesome invitation. Our waitress was sweet. It was a little unconventional when she tried to open our screw top bottle of wine with a corkscrew, but I think she meant well. We ordered the spicy tuna roll, plum tree roll and yum yum roll. The display was lovely, and the sushi tasted fresh and healthy. My date let me have all of the ginger so that was also a plus. The restaurant is BYOB and conveniently located right next to a liquor store. What is not to love about that? I give Ginmiya 5 stars for the delicious food, excellent service and convenient location next to a liquor store and movie theater...all great components for a fabulous date. read more

I use to love this place but the last 3 times I ate sushi (months apart) I got sick. I didn't realize I was getting sick from eating here but after the 3rd time I new for sure. Years ago, I loved their sushi but now it's simply not fresh. This last time the salmon appeared slimy but sadly I didn't take notice until it was too late . I used to rave about this place to friends but I won't go back. It's too bad too because the manager always treated me well and the service is good but nothing is worth food poisoning.
