8/30/2026 First time here. Got here as soon as it opened. First customer too, which is always a good thing! CHASHU COLD RAMEN Chewy, bouncy ramen! The crunchy vegetables were refreshing too! The peanut sauce was good, but wished there was more sesame in it. But it is generally a sauce that won't offend, since the peanut butter and sesame flavor was still on the minimal side. You could taste both, but still it was a very light sauce. Would get this again! GOLDEN TARO BALL Very crispy, golden, and delicious! Taro flavor was there and I can also taste coconut too. Soft and creamy inside. Light mochi in it as well. MATCHA FRIED MILK Outside was super crunchy and the look and texture reminded me of scorched rice. Inside was creamy and did taste like lightly sweetened milk. A little bit of matcha flavor from the matcha powder on top. This was good and I never tried this before, so I was pleasantly surprised! AMBIANCE + SEATS Small restaurant, about 8 tables. Various wooden tables and chairs, some with a bench. The decor was pretty. No music playing. One large tv to the side of the restaurant. It was playing a game show called The Mole. Interesting that there was zero music, yet they play a random game show on tv. There is one unisex bathroom, which you have to go through via kitchen. It was stuffy and a bit hot when I entered the restaurant. They must have turned the AC on later because it got a bit cooler as time went on, but it was stuffy for a long while. PARKING It was here on a Sunday, before noon and the parking lot was packed! The restaurant took over the whole lot! I assumed majority of customers were from the restaurant next door called Plate 38 Kitchen & Bar, as I heard customers at an outdoor table. Heard a lot of noise from that side. There were other small businesses and two other restaurants also in this same small strip mall as well, so this place can get packed quickly! Parking attendant was walking around the small lot. CUSTOMER SERVICE One server was at the restaurant and she gave prompt and friendly service. There was so many interesting menu items offered at this restaurant and I would love to return to try them.
Very good ramen in a Pasadena strip mall! I've probably driven by here many times. We tried the Ginja and Tonkatsu ramens, both were great they both have quality ingredients -- chewy fresh noodles, flavorful pork slices with a char, jammy boiled eggs and a unique mix of roasted peanuts with pickled beans. The different soups were notable as well. The Ginja ramen has a fermented paste base and toniatsu broth was clean. Cute decoration and friendly service. Food is made fresh, so a short wait.
Changed owners last year so I am updating my review. Tasty ramen at a good price point. Their base ramen doesn't have a lot of toppings but it is well made. They also have a good selection of rice dishes and a lot of appetizers to choose from. Shrimp skewers and fried tofu were good.
TL; DR: the ramen is solid, but the fried food is absolutely delicious - maybe the best I've had in a good while. Highly recommend the fried pumpkin and tofu. Was craving ramen and decided to try this spot. It's a small restaurant but wasn't full on a Saturday afternoon. They had masterchef playing on full blast on the TV, which was fun for us and our kids. The food came out quickly, with the fried tofu piping hot. The ramen was tasty as well with the thinner type of noodles having a nice chewiness and springy texture. The server was so sweet and understanding even when my 2yo somehow spilled her lidded water cup everywhere. Overall, the only meh point was that the ramen came with very little toppings included (only the egg, red bamboo, green onions, and chashu) and additional toppings were add-ons. It was pleasantly surprising that we had the whole egg instead of only half like some other places serve!
Honestly, a cute spot. The food was good, the service was friendly, and I really have no complaints. They're also open pretty late, which is always nice.
So happy to discover Ginjo Ramen in Pasadena. Excellent service, healthy portions and something for everyone! Casual ambiance, just what we were looking for.
When I pick up my wife from I told my wife let's have ramen then she say where,I told her in Pasadena the shopping center where the Smokehouse Social BBC and Lupitas and Plate 38. I told here the ramen restaurant called King of Ramen I told her they good reviews including Yelp. We found parking in the shopping despite it get busy on a Friday night and a full moon that bring anyone for nice bowl of hot delicious ramen to keep nice warm. We step in the restaurant,we're greet by the owner/hostess of the restaurant she was very nice and told us we can sit anywhere in the restaurant. Then she can to table where we at hand us the appetizers and the ramen menu and we thank her. We looking at menu and what ramen dish rhay we prefer the best from the menu. The both of us decided to order the Tonkotsu with rich and creamy pork bone broth that cook for hours to bring the flavor of broth instantly. We also a order a side of sweet potato tempura it's our first time trying sweet potato tempura. The restaurant have a unique touch of interior look that bring a piece of a ramen house in Japan. She brought us the Tonkotsu Ramen it looks so good I took a sip of the pork broth it was very impressive flavor light and clean taste of the pork bone flavor. The meat was very tender and full of flavor and cook for hours and the meat fall apart. The ramen noodle were cook perfect and adding the pork bone broth make this Tonkotsu dish earthy and full of flavor. The soft boiled egg and ginger add more flavor in the broth and bring the ramen noodles and pork in one unique dish. The sweet potato tempura were very crispy and light and nice sweet taste of rhe sweet potato. We enjoy the Tonkotsu Ramen and the sweet potato tempura at King Ramen also thank the chef and his staff for the Tonkotsu Ramen and also thank to the owner/hostess for the piece of a pastry.
Have you ever had what feels like the longest week ever, and then you realize it's only Tuesday? That happened to me today. Also today I realized how proud I am of my 18 year old daughter who is becoming a remarkable woman right in front of me. I needed comfort... but I also needed to celebrate my girl. Needless to say, the kid & I wound up at King of Ramen. We started off with the crispy pumpkin, which is a glorious mix of textures: delicate and crunchy and smooth all at the same time. It's sweet and savory. The contrast in texture and flavor started to cheer me up as soon as I took a bite. I could feel myself relaxing and I gave myself the space to enjoy a conversation with the kid as we shared our appetizer. I've had food from here enough to know that the ramen portions are humongous, though, so I restrained myself from completely wolfing the pumpkin down. We both ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen with extra egg (there are so many optional add-on's if you want.) the broth is soooo comforting I felt like my mom was giving me a hug. The meat is so tender and flavorful. The ramen perfectly slurpable and the exact perfect level of chewy to take me to a whole new level of happiness. I usually order the King (or Spicy King) Ramen, which is also delicious, but a little more complex. Today I wanted - and got - a solidly delicious, umami-filled bowl of exactly what I needed. There aren't many seats (and there is plenty of parking!) but even when there are other patrons it never gets loud. The folks who work here are so generous - not only with their portions, but also their time. I knew that they closed at 8pm and asked our server to let us know when it's time for us to leave. She didn't, and they stayed open until 8:30 for just us. You might not have a kid, you might not be burned-out from work on a Tuesday, but if you want to smile with every bite, I really hope you stop by this joint. Pasadena has so many wonderful restaurants, and this if one of them. It's not fancy. It's not expensive. It's perfect if you want to feel better leaving than you did when you walked in. At least that's my experience.
Everything was delicious! Best Ramen by far! They should be packed every night. The King Ramen was a huge hit and the edamame was steaming, perfectly salted, and very fresh. The chili oil dumplings were so good! The owners are so friendly and the decor is awesome! I cannot say enough about this place! Please give them business and you will not be disappointed!
The food here is excellent! I got the spicy tonkotsu ramen (I added bamboo) and the spring rolls. The spring rolls were fresh and crispy, and the ramen was flavorful and delicious. The slight char on the pork was sooo yummy. Staff here are also so sweet and attentive. The only thing I wasn't prepared for was a large tv playing episodes of masterchef... While I love a good Gordon Ramsey show I think next time I'll bring some headphones for a less stimulating lunch
We really enjoyed the small dishes, especially the garlic shrimp skewers, chicken skewers, karaage, fried tofu, and matcha fried milk. Everything was flavorful and delicious! For the ramen, though, I personally prefer King Ramen.

This place delivers quality tasty ramen. The ramen broth is rich and tasteful, the noodles are chewy and have just the right texture. The tonkotsu is soft and large. I also ordered a side of karaage (fried chicken pieces) on the side. The fried chicken pieces were fried on the outside and soft + smooth + juicy on the inside. They made them just right. The ramen itself was a bit small so I had to order that appetizer. No regrets to that. This place has the small homey ramen shop feel. It's located in a plaza where parking is very limited, luckily you can park on the sidewalk for free (which is where I parked). Would come back again if I'm in Pasadena! read more

The food was good tonkotsu Ramen was a little on a salty side for me today, they have the original recipe, So their broth is home made.they use black pork and natural pork from Canada this is a family owned business. They have other selections such as Spicy ,tan tan ramen, curry ramen. The fried tofu is great, not too greasy good portion size. Service was good there one server. The place looks very clean I saw the lady wipe the table with disinfectant which is good. There's good amount of parking in the area. Good thing I tried read more

Hopelessly ramen-tiaclly in love with King of Ramen. I was dragged here by a friend who said I gotta go and try some of LA's best ramen. So who am I to turn that down?! This place is a smaller hole in the wall.. but we love this. I love that spot that isn't huge and over saturated with people. So when I visited around dinner time I noticed that it was not too busy which was great. I did a once over on the menu and noticed that there was a veggie option (YAY). When I went to order my veggie ramen the staff was over the top friendly and said that any of the variations that I was interested in, can be made vegetarian. Super hard to find in ramen spots so that was awesome. But I pretty much chickened out and got the tofu veggie ramen with medium spice. It was a VERY short wait and our steaming hot bowls were being served to us. The aromas of the ramens were amazing! I loved it! I took a bite and it was creamy, savory and a little hint of spice. I do have to admit that I ended up adding so much more spice to my ramen, I'm a heat chaser. The veggie egg rolls were also amazing! loved the crispy crunchy egg rolls jam packed with veggies. This is a great spot and you cant beat the prices! read more

Decided to stop by here for lunch the other day and it was pretty decent! This place has a really hole-in-the-wall feel to it and is located in a plaza with free, but very limited parking. Service was great and the food came out quickly. I also have to note that their portion sizes are huge and well worth the prices you're paying. I ordered: Fried Tofu (5/5): They've really mastered the art of frying foods without leaving a whole lot of oil and grease! Not only was our fried tofu perfectly crisp on the outside and very silky on the inside, but we also found it super impressive that there was very little oil on the parchment paper below it. The sweet and sour dip that came with it was a solid pairing. Curry Chicken Rice (4/5): I was super impressed by the 7 pieces of juicy and tender chicken in this dish as most restaurants either give fewer pieces or cover smaller pieces heavily in batter. The curry was comforting and rich and the vegetables were soft but not soggy. I just wish that the rice was warmer when served. read more

(+) King Ramen (-) Ambiance King Ramen Pasadena is located in a small, quaint plaza off Colorado Blvd. I came here with a friend on a weekday around 1PM and there was one other party seated before us. Food: We ordered the King Ramen, vegetable curry, tan tan ramen and chicken karaage. The King ramen broth is a mix of tonkatsu and miso, which was very interesting. Next time, I'll just order the ramen. With the amount of noodles provided, I felt like I was the King with my belly full of noodles. The noodle portion is generous. The noodles themselves were tasty and easy to eat. The vegetable curry wasn't anything special. I would pass on that dish. The chicken karaage was crispy and was also a generous size. The tan tan ramen wasn't my favorite and something I would pass on next time. There is a sauce bar for self serve. Service: There was a gentlemen who served us throughout out stay. He was pleasant. The food did come out around 10-15 minutes, which is nothing of complaint. Ambiance: The feeling isn't the most comfortable. Tables are located closely next to each other and it's a small place overall. The blinds over the windows look old that add to the experience. Overall, I would recommend King of Ramen for a group of friends but not for a first date. The food is not bad, but the ambiance isn't the best. Go ahead and see for yourself! read more
This place is super value and tasty! The staff are super nice and friendly - she even insisting on boxing my leftovers for me, so sweet. Their menu is printed huge on the wall, so super easy to order. We got a chicken karaage to share amongst 3 people and a ramen each, which ended up being around $18 per person. I was definitely full at the end and had enough leftovers for another full meal. Spicy King Ramen - the bowl was literally bigger than my face. It's an insane amount of food. Broth is rich, good flavor. It wasn't as spicy as I was expecting it so I'd say it's more like a "mild/medium" level of spice. Pork was a little on the drier side but there was a generous amount. The soy egg was also really delicious and perfectly jammy on the inside. The only weird thing for me was the ginger as a topping. Chicken Karage- definitely enough to share between 3 people. Super crispy and the sauce paired well w it. Would definitely come back for a quick, cheap ramen fix. read more
Decently priced ramen in pretty generous portions - we love to see that! That being said, is it the BEST ramen I've ever had? No. Food: - Egg rolls: Four pieces with a dipping sauce on the side - alright. - Fried Pumpkin: Essentially kabocha squash tempura (my fave). Didn't come with any sauce or dip, which made it a little plain. - Tonkatsu Ramen: Again - good portions and decent broth. The meat wasn't the best quality. This spot is not bad by any means, but there are just so many other ramen places that have amazing menu items/better quality. read more

Parking can be a bit tricky during lunch and dinner time but be patient and a stall will open up. Now to the ramen, It was ok. For the price, i expected a bit more in portion amount. Was it good? I suppose so. Pretty average. The pork in the bowl ordered was below average in my honest opinion. Ive had much better around town and in the San Gabriel Valley. It's definitely not a 5 star restaurant but i've had worse also. Staff was polite and attentive to refilling my water. Will i come back? probably not. So many other options around pasadena to try at this price point. read more
This place was a pleasant surprise! I might be biased because I was a little hungover when I went so this place really hit the spot lol. We got the spicy king ramen and another simple one and I think the king ramen was best because it uses two broths to give it a unique yummy flavor. We also tried the pumpkin tempura and that was tasty too. The restaurant is small but clean and cute. The inside front looks like a ramen cart. They have very reasonable prices for good quality food I can't wait to come back as I usually only go to shin sen gumi in Rosemead. Definitely try this place out! P.S their water was so refreshing they have a great filter lol. read more

This review is about my first experience at this establishment. I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen, and I was hooked on the broth alone. Before I continue, this restaurant was well taken care of, clean, and staff was very hospitable. Service was quicker than I expected it to be, too. You can see the pride they have for their ramen, something that I appreciate it. When you take your first sip of the broth, you can feel how fresh and delectable it is. The ingredients taste fresh, and the pork is meaty and delicious. By the time I was done, I felt satisfied, not super full, but just right. I will be revisiting this place read more
This place lives up to its name. FOOD: I got the curry ramen which was one out of two vegetarian options. It was delicious! The fact that they had vegetarian options already made me love this place. When the bowls came out, I was amazed by the portion! I couldn't finish it...and now I have a second meal! The curry ramen noodles are thicker than the ramen used in the soupy ones. I stole a few bites of the Spicy Tonkotsu And Spicy Miso ramen and really liked the broth and noodles because I prefer thinner noodles. The spicy broth was also a solid spice. Definitely have a nice kick. SERVICE/WAIT: We came here at 11:50pm on a Saturday and were seated right away. We were well taken care of. PARKING: There is free parking in the plaza it's in! read more
Nice little ramen noodle. But beware, their parking lot is very small and very crowded. You probably better off parking on the street instead. Tastewise, their ramen noodle is very good. I don't think that they are owned by Japanese, hence their ramen is not the most authentic one (for the real authentic Japanese ramen, try Ramen Yukinoya in Arcadia). But also because of that, they have so much more option to pick from! They got rice, curry, which most other ramen noodle Place does not have. We try their side dish today too. Gyoza is ok, but I wish that they pan fried it a little long for crisper bottom. Chicken karage doesn't feel like Japanese style. It tastes more like the Taiwanese version of popcorn chicken! Good, just not what I expected. Overall a nice ramen place in Pasadena. It can get pretty busy during the weekend. read more

My son ordered the spicy tonkotsu and I ordered the regular tonkotsu. I have to say I wasn't impressed. The noodles had the right amount of chewiness to it but the meat was too tough. Usually it's so tender. It felt old. The broth was too special either. Service was not up to par either. The place was tiny and there was only one server. When there's only one of you you kinda have to be on your toes. We had to repeatedly try and get her attention: To order, To get the check. Not a fan of this place. read more
Wow, this cozy little place definitely lived up to the reviews! Lots of parking, don't worry. Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen - 4/5 As the waiter put down the bowl of ramen in front of me, I thought, "Wow! This is HUGE." It came with 2 thin slices of meat with green onions, perfectly cooked egg sliced in half, and a huge piece of seaweed. The noodles were chewy and good. The broth was good. The spicy level was just OK too. The service was fantastic! Except the waiter never really smiled. But he checked upon me and made sure everything was okay. They don't have lemon, so don't ask for lemon water. OVERALL, this place is mediocre. I'll be back since I work in Pasadena. read more

I orders the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen with extra spice to it!! So freaking delicious! iLOVE how authentic this restaurant is and how the are all about tradition!! Definitely will be coming back here for some great ramen!! read more
Cantonese owned Ramen place, which means in a nutshell, not using the traditional Japanese flavors/ingredients you're probably used to but good enough to pass for a good meal. For example, they may have added some seafood/fish flavoring in their tonkatsu Ramen and added a little bit of Chinese spicy mala sauce in their tan tan dry noodle. They weren't bad- just different. You order in the front and they bring the meal to you. Service is great. Super nice and friendly. Ample parking. Decent place to get a quick bite if you're trying to avoid the long lines and big crowds. read more
This location has been open for a little over a week. It's located in a plaza at the corner of Sierra Madre and Colorado (northeast corner). You order and pay first, then sit. They deliver your dish to your table. There is limited seating-about 20 people at one time. Parking is free, and street parking is available. Water is filtered, room temp, self serve and tastes great (see the back of the wagon). We had the tonkotsu ramen for $9. It came with a soft boiled egg, two large slices of pork, red ginger, and a slice of seaweed. Other toppings were extra, but they did not have a large variety of toppings such as bamboo shoot (as an example). The soup was ok. The thickness was there, but the flavor wasn't as deep as I expected. I can't point to what was missing, but the flavor isn't as deep as my favorite place. We also had the miso ramen. The soup was fine, and the toppings were the same. We ordered the sides of egg roll and the fried kabocha pumpkin. Not bad! The egg roll is vegetarian. We also ordered the chicken curry, which came medium spicy right off the bat. It had medium chunks of potato, carrot, and onion. I was too full to eat much of it! read more
Had to try this Ramen place because it's so close to home. We ordered "to go". The restaurant is small, but decorated nice and clean. Staff was very friendly and thorough when I placed our order. She told me 15 minutes for our meal to be ready, right on time. I ordered the tonkatsu ramen. It smelled so yummy! The noodles were cooked perfectly and the broth was hot and very tasty. The chashu was good too. Overall, it's a great place for ramen, close by and comparable to other ramen places. Hubby had the miso ramen and he enjoyed it very much. He's Japanese and says that it was made very well. His broth was tasty too. We also ordered the spring rolls, they were a little soft, but good. Overall, will visit again and try some of their rice dishes too. read more

Ramen review king of ramen, Pasadena super yummy! Not extremely creamy but super flavorful & feels supper yummy on a cold day! quality pork (no fat on it) & somewhat thinner noodles but plentiful and just enough for the amount of ramen. Egg was eggcelent. 9.8/10 and very nice owners! Fun fact they told me: the brew their tonkotsu broth for 2 days! Also, very convenient parking, it's a small and quiet place, super quick and memorable service! read more

Is the vegetable ramen vegetarian? Do you know if the broth contains any sort of animal product, such as broth or meat?
Hey Marcy, the owner's mom is actually a vegetarian so they develop their own kombu based broth (no meat products whatsoever). We found out because my wife is a vegetarian and she loves this place! Hope this helps.
