I had an unacceptable wait time, and my order was incorrect. I ordered dinner for my family online in the afternoon. In the online form, I selected a order pickup time of 5:30. I arrived at 5:30 and was told my order would be at least another 60-75 minutes. I was told they would test me when it was ready. 90 minutes later I still had not received a text, so I drove back. I was told again that it would be 60-75 minutes. I finally got my dinner a few minutes before 8 PM. When I got home I discovered that I was missing one of our dinners, and ended up eating cold pizza for dinner. read more

My wife and I have had Gingerootz on multiple occasions and have been extremely satisfied with the food. My wife really enjoys their "Customize your own" stir fry. I usually go with General Tso's and a side of crab rangoon, which are amazing. This last weekend we had taken my wife's family there for lunch. The weather was so cold that we thought there was a draft just inside the door. After we had been seated and ordered drinks we realized that their heat had gone out and a few space heaters were all they had to combat the cold. I can appreciate trying to work through issues out of your control, but it would have been best to have the hostess mention the heat being out before seating customers. Transparency would have allowed us to bring my wife's family back at a later date, rather than allowing a poor experience due to how cold they were. First time ordering from Gingerootz via Uber Eats. Tonight we ordered the fried rice and bulgogee. They both were very tasty and I have no complaints about that. However, the size of the bulgogi was rather questionable. It literally looked like someone ate most of it and gave me left overs. The bulgogi took up less than half of the container. It was disappointing and so not worth $14 dollars. So if you want your get more for your dollar, don't order the "bul go gee"... even if it does taste good. Hopefully they up their portion or lower their price to match the size. In short: Taste was good size was meh.. Meal was gone before I thought of taking a photo. Sigh* read more

Terrible service! Granted we ate a a weird time, about 2pm. I think the noon shift was changing, but our server, Octavian, was the worst! While we waited for him to take our order, which seemed like forever, I watched at least 6 other waiter/staff cleaning up their tables and we couldn't get any help. My drink was gone when the waiter finally came by to see what we wanted. The place has some tables and a row of bench seating with smaller tables. I was sat at a beach, which was fine, but the next customers where seated right next to us! It was like we were sharing a table with this unknown couple with an empty seating area all around us. Very weird and very uncomfortable. I do have to say the food was good, but if you want good sushi in Appleton drive up Northland a bit an go to Koreana. Then it was time to play the waiting game to get our bill. By that time Octavian had more than one table to wait on and he was no where to be found. Finally I had to flag him down. No matter how annoyed we seemed he worked at one speed..... WAY TO SLOW! Too bad, the food deserved better than a 2 star, even though I thought it was bait high for serving size and the fact it was lunch in Appleton, WI. This restaurant used to be my favorite but since they remodeled our food comes out cold and at best luke warm. We have been back 4x with same issue. Last time we were there I asked to have it warmed up and it took another 20 minutes to get my food back and it was still cold. I took it home and warmed it up in the microwave and it tasted good. I came here on a recommendation from a client who lived in Appleton for 10 years. He said he averaged about once a week and knew all the wait staff and knew the owner, Julie? Anyways, based on his word, I ordered the Crystal Shrimp. It was pretty much like walnut shrimp but without the walnuts and only the sauce. They added pineapples, too, in place of the shrimp. It was pretty good. This isn't a Chinese restaurant. It's an "Asian Grille"... Whatever that means. I would probably come back here for Asian food. It's hard to find good "Asian" food in these parts of the country (except Cy's, read my other review). But, overall it isn't bad. Also, I had the option of brown rice. KUDOS for that. The food is truly second to none! The takeout is just as good as dining in the restaurant. The service is usually very quick, but you sometimes have to wait awhile for a table...even when tables are empty. In stopping over to Appleton, we wanted to try something other than burgers. The lunch menu for stir fry at $7.99 was a good deal. Portions were large and the food came out piping hot and quickly. I like the food at Gingerootz, I just think it's overrated in Appleton. There are other places to go for Asian food that are less expensive and are better quality (ex. Bamboo or Basils Cafe). If you're not ordering sushi, the other dishes do not have much flavor and aren't cheap either. The best thing I've ordered here is the Tuna poke appetizer or the crystal shrimp- both were tasty! Such a disappointment! We ordered take out from here for the first time and it was such a let down. We had high hopes since the reviews were decent. First, it is SO overpriced! There are much cheaper options that are way better. We ordered the chicken and broccoli and shrimp pad Thai. The pad Thai was mush. It lacked flavor and the shrimp was over cooked. It was terrible! Honestly, the pad Thai from Noodles and Company is 10x better. My husband's chicken and broccoli lacked meat and the broccoli was underdone. He said it was just okay at best. He did enjoy his steak pork dumplings though. Maybe they just had an off night, but even still, there's no way that this place is worth the prices they charge! What a total disappointment! I did give it 2-stars for the wait staff. They were attentive and proactive. The food on the other hand was awful. My fried rice was dry and Salmon over cooked. We were a party of 4 and not one person enjoyed their food selections. Finally a restaurant worth going too in Wisconsin. Great spin off of original and traditional recipes that actually work "fusion". My wife and I had a great dining experience! Friendly staff, great ambience, great location, and good food/drinks. Peking Roasted Duck with Bao buns were delicious and the meat was deboned while skin crispy! Great version of their own Asian slaw salad that compliments their Satay Bao. "Cha Cha" Shrimp dish was delicious! Mixed of coconut shrimp meets hot n spicy shrimp. Although the spice level could've been more intense; flavors were good and shrimps were huge! Had also their Tuna poke. Flavors are good and freshness was there! So many other menu items that we were eyeing but I guess it'll have to wait for until next time. read more

The sesame chicken is amazing and I order it regularly. I decided to go with the Pad Thai this time, as I typically love this dish. Unfortunately, I couldn't stomach the Pad Thai from Gingerootz. Instead of that signature sweet-savory peanut-y flavor, this was super sour and tangy and tasted like really acidic ketchup. The sauce was a bright red color which threw me off right away. I will be back for the sesame chicken and the lettuce wraps, but the Pad Thai is a NO from me. read more

What happened to Gingerootz? We used to be raving fans but those days have passed after today. Went in there today for our anniversary lunch and couldn't have been more disappointed. New decor is very sterile. Intimacy in the dining room is gone. Very surprised they now have a buffet. The food was not what we're used to at Gingerootz. Cold, salty, and uninspired. Service was not even close to what we've come to expect there. Too many miscues to even list, although this quick story is a good summary ... my wife and I were just starting our trip through the buffet when the table adjacent to the buffet asked for sweet sour sauce. The waitress reached right in front of my wife - no excuse me, no nothing - grabbed the sweet sour and gave it to this table. And then never replaced the sweet sour on the buffet. Oh, and we had to track her down later for our bill so that we could get out of there. What once was was arguably the top Asian cuisine in the Fox Valley is now as ordinary as every other strip mall Chinese buffet. Very sad. read more

After most of our table ordered water to drink (which for most of us, is our drink of choice) she called us cheap and then continued to pressure us to buy a drink. Then at the end of our meal she asked if we wanted dessert and made the comment, "I'm assuming not, since you didn't get drinks". I am beyond angry with my first time going here. I understand it is Christmas Eve, however, we waited inthe car for 2 HOURS. We called early and ordered at NOON! They need to be more prepared for these events. That is ridiculous. We missed half of our holiday with family because the "call ahead for food to be ready soon" was, in fact, not ready. I have been coming to Gingerootz for years. It has always been a favorite. Last night was incredibly disappointing. My summer roll was just stuffed with lettuce. They did not have their string bean dish so I ordered the tofu hot pot which I've had before. They got our order wrong costing us more. The veggies in the dish were raw. The pick up order took them 1 1/2 hours. When we picked up the food the restaurant was not busy and this was a Friday. I don't know if they changed owners or what but the quality has gone way downhill. Our work establishment recently ordered lunch there and said their food was poor.I have gift cards which I will use up but after that ginger roots will just be a distant memory. read more

We were craving for Asian food so bad so we went here. We arrived there around 3pm and we were sort of hesitant to get inside because there was just one car...but we went in still. We sat down facing this nice aquarium. The servers were nice. The food that we ordered for lunch was okay. Not the taste that I was expecting and it was kind of bland. It was sort of disappointing. Pad Thai : I usually eat a lot of pad Thai and this is one of my worst pad Thai. Noodles are just rice noodle. I was expecting the pad Thai noodle, which are thicker. Taste like sweet pho only. I wouldn't buy it again. Fried rice: doesn't taste good at all. Prefer white rice. Dumplings are good. Miso soup: it's good but has a few big chunk of tofu and seaweed. More than Japanese miso soup. So good! We came up to Appleton from Milwaukee. Although, there are some honorable mentions in our area, but nothing quite compares to the quality and freshness of Gingerootz. We needed take out so delivery was ideal. This being not my first time to Gingerootz I couldn't stop thinking about it once we arrived into town so with that impulse in mind, we were only 3 people but we ordered a hella lot of fresh, delicious and satisfying eats; including: Wor Wonton Soup- This was one of my favorites! Broth has a great amount of depth without too much salt. A rich and satisfying flavor. The soup includes chopped carrot, mushroom, spring onion, chive, pork, shrimp and a scrumptious wonton. Comes in a cup or bowl the bowl was quart sized- nice portion. Do this. Crab Rangoon - Yummy! Not a lot of crab, but the flavor is nice and the wrappers of high quality. Not greasy and a crispy, savory addition. Chicken lettuce wraps - Well seasoned minced chicken, water chestnut, scallion and mushroom. Cool lettuce wraps for wrapping. I maybe could have used a little sauce for this, but maybe I'm being overzealous. General Tso's chicken - Big chunks of chicken in a light breeding and approachable sauce that was in a non gelatinous sauce - thank goodness! I really dislike sauce that jiggles like jello. The sauce was light in spice but the chicken itself of was well seasoned. Came with fresh steamed broccoli. Yum! Mongolian Beef - Tender high- quality beef chunked with onion lots of onion. Sauce is light but personally would have liked a little more sweet and salty aspect to the sauce. I didn't get that mongo flavor that I really wanted. That's me being nit-picky. Crystal Shrimp/lau chow Shrimp - We did half and half order. We liked the lau chow Shrimp more. Nice dish overall! Full of flavor! Shrimp are big! read more
