Food Tried the pad see ew, lad nah, egg rolls, and a couple milk teas. The lad nah just wasn't for me but I could see why people like it. It was the brown gravy that didn't work for me. The milk teas were on point and the pad see ew had plenty of flavor. Egg rolls were crispy, very hot with crisp, fresh veggies. Service Exceptional! One of the only Thai restaurants that was open on Labor Day and I'm glad I got to try them. Both waitresses had great conversation, the food came out fresh and hot, and we were promptly seated. Tucked away in a shopping center between Medical Center and Thompson Lane, Ginger Thai is absolutely a hidden gem! The Pad Thai was incredible, and the service was attentive. I dined at Ginger Thai Bistro on Friday, November 27, 2020 at 1 pm. I think this restaurant offers a wide selection of Thai food and their menu is pretty cohesive. Fresh rolls were indeed fresh and rolled very nicely. The red bell pepper isn't traditionally used in fresh rolls but I didn't mind the extra texture component. Tom yum soup needed more of the tom yum seasoning as it tasted very much like chicken broth. However, strangely enough I didn't mind the lack of seasoning since it still tasted good to me Papaya salad was very good. Seasoning was perfect and the ingredients were fresh. Pad kee mao and Kao pad prik pow tasted good, but didn't taste authentic. Even though wide noodle was used, it wasn't the right type. The fried rice was moist as most Thai fried rice typically are. We did an Uber Eats - that experience was fine. The reviews were mixed so I was on the fence. I have passed this place a thousand times. My partner very much enjoyed this more than I did. It was just so-so. The pho was the star of the show but nothing super special about it. The shrimp blankets were bizarre and just make sure you like crispy noodles the shrimp is a very small part. Both rolls were ok- everything was still hot went we got it, but just greasy. Which I think changed the taste. Would be open to trying it one more time in person. read more

They had 3 cup chicken wings which were flavorful, juicy and big.. maybe a little overpriced for 5 wings though. Hidden in the shopping center with Ross & Home Goods is this absolutely adorable thai restaurant and cafe. I ordered takeout over the phone and my order was ready in under 15 mins. I got the tofu pad thai which was cooked to perfection. It's definitely on the sweeter side of the spectrum with a perfect kick to it. The tofu was packed with flavor and the perfect texture. A lot of peanut taste in the best way with extra sauce and lime. Definitely one of my new favorites in town. read more

I was looking through yelp and saw someone posted pictures that they had red bean and taro ice cream so I had to come check this place out. My husband said "the only reason you wanted to come was for the ice cream" - yes I'm guilty lol anyways we decided to have lunch here too. I had the beef salad - it was good, had that nice hint of charcoal which was good with the beef. My husband had the sukiyaki which he didn't rave about so much. It was nothing special to him. We also had the calamari, it was good but there were only a few piece of calamari. It was mainly veggies (why do restaurant do this)? Now on to the ice cream, what I really came for. LOL! I was going to get a scoop but thank god I didn't. I asked for a sample and the ice cream was not something I expected. For some reason taro did not taste like taro. It was flavorless and the texture weird. Tasted like old whip cream. The red bean was different too. It had a hint of red bean taste but again texture was weird. Maybe the ice cream was sitting too long. You know when you open a carton of ice cream and you don't eat it for a long time you go back and it just doesn't taste as good as you first opened it. Had a really good dinner at Ginger Thai Bistro tonight. I ordered the Papaya salad which was excellent, the Tom Yum soup (which was ok), and the eggplant specialty dish with Shrimp which was fabulous!!! My daughter showed up as I was finishing up followed by my wife and youngest son. Patty (my wife) ordered the Pad Se Ew which she said was very good also and we split a mango with purple sticky rice (which you rarely see outside of the home). Micah my son ordered a Coconut Bubble Tea with lychee jellies and ate up half of the mango and sweet rice. Overall, I would definitely recommend this new Thai/Lao restaurant. There were a lot of friendly familiar faces working here from other Thai/Lao restaurants around middle TN. I see myself coming back again very soon. Tried them out last night...very friendly folks and a nice looking place. My server Megan was great and she told me what is important to them is their food has the freshest ingredients available. The Fruit Tea (Bubble Tea) was really good and not overly sweet. I tried the peach...delicious. Had a cup of the Tom Kah Gai (Coconut milk soup) and it was good but the chicken was a bit "rubbery" and it lacked any "zip"...just my opinion a drizzle of red curry sauce or something would have enhanced the overall flavor. Basically a wholesome soup but needed a little bit of help to really make it special. The menu is pretty much standard Thai fare, but they do offer Sukiyaki (a Japanese dish), Udon (Laotian style), and some duck specialties. I decided on the Ginger Fried Rice. This was a combination of shrimp, sweet sausage, tomato, shredded ginger, black fungus mushrooms, and onions. Overall a really good rice dish, and the sweet sausage was incredible...wished there was more of it in the dish. The vegetables in the dish were "al dente" which is so refreshing versus the veggies being cooked to death. Service was very friendly and Megan took great care of me. I will go back...want to try the Mussel & Basil and the Duck Soy Sauce (Pat Lowh) dishes. read more

3.5 stars Thai dishes are more meant to be shared as a family style. This place dinner portions are a bit smaller then what I'm used to. I had pad kee mao. Their noodles were the large flat noodles made with a sweetness taste. And spices added to give it a kick for more flavors. I felt like I enjoyed enough to get it again. Also had the papaya salad Laos style. They added more of the shrimp pasta for Laos style. My husband still enjoy it to finish it off. Steak larb came with a side of steam rice. Steak packed with flavors but I tasted more of the lime juice and a hint of chili. Service was attentive and the waits for food great. Didn't have to wait long for food to come right out. Average Thai food. Started off with their taro ice cream. Lol yes, started off with ice cream. I am not a fan of taro at all, but I really liked their taro ice cream. It wasn't bad at all. Next was the blanket shrimp. It was different from other Thai restaurants. Usually if you order blanket shrimp, it comes rolled up in egg roll wrapper. This one was wrapped in crunchy noodles. It's more so of crunchy noodle fried shrimp, but it wasn't bad. Next was the Pho num thok that was recommended by our server. It wasn't bad, but the broth was super sweet. I typically have my go to place for Thai food but I thought I'd give this place a try. I ordered the chicken fried rice and on appearance it looked rather good however, as I started to dig in it felt like I was eating oil and the flavor just wasn't there. Maybe they were having an off day though it was enough for me to not go back. Im not one to mind paying for good food but this was Not worth the $14. Also, I worked in the restaurant industry for 5 years (ironically at a Thai restaurant) it's always polite to hand the take out to the customer once they've paid. It's distasteful to get looked crazy bc you're expected to grab a bag you can't even see from where you paid. read more
