I love this quaint little place on the Liberty, Missouri square. They're great for brunch, and only open until 2:30 pm. This place isn't huge, so you might have a wait if you go at a busy time. Everything I've ever eaten here has been wonderful. You can't go wrong with anything on the breakfast menu, and I'm also a fan of the soup/salad or soup/quiche combo. I wanted to love this place but...we arrived at 9:00am. The waiter did not take our order for 30 minutes. It took another 40min to get food. I ordered the crab Benedict. It was so fishy that I could not eat it. The hollandaise sauce was canned and the sausage that was chopped on the top was left in the casing and was tough. My husband had the eggs Benedict it was ok. The service was TERRIBLE. The floors are filthy. The rest of the place looked wiped down but not clean. The 2 star are for the area. It's quaint and looked like a nice place from the outside. Liberty Missouri doesn't lack good breakfast. Ginger Sues is just a sure sign of that. With good service, spectacular pancakes, and a nice seating area you can't go wrong. I like my bacon kinda chewy and always let them know, they get it right every time. OMG! Fabulous food, drink, atmosphere and especially our waitress! Stephanie was the best server we've had here and should get a raise!!!! Super attentive and quick with requests. As for the food-I make eggs Benedict with homemade hollandaise sauce and don't get it out very often because it tastes like powder BUT! the Benedict at Ginger Sue's was THE BEST I've ever eaten at a restaurant. Arrived here about 9:30 AM and were seated immediately in the upper section. We were provided a menu. It was about 10 minutes before any type of service was offered. By then I knew what I wanted to eat and drink. It would be about 20-25 minutes before my order and my husband s order arrived. My husband received his complete order. I received only my pancake. We also had to ask for silverware and that took several minutes to get. By the time our server returned with the silverware had checked my pancake to discover it was cold. I asked for a new one and was informed it would take 10-15 minutes to get another-, which is ridiculous, but I sent it back anyway. I had not yet received the rest of my breakfast-an omelet. It would be another 5 minutes before that came out. The omelet was still hot, the biscuit was cold and the potatoes were not well seasoned and were overdone. My pancake did take another 15 minutes and was hot when I it came to the table, however, it was also over done on one side. The restaurant did not charge me for my meal, thankfully, but I was very disappointed in my breakfast overall. I've been putting this place off for quite some time. I'm glad I've given up soda though as it's really help me branch out and try new places. I hesitated in trying this place because I hadn't heard much about it except from just one person. However, I gave it a go. I'm glad I did, but I'm not sure I'd make a special trip back. I had the Crab Andouille Benedict. I've not had anything quite like this before. It tasted very good. The crab was to my shock...real! They didn't make the mistake of packing on the crab meat because that can be over powering. It was served with county potatoes that were served crispy just the way I like them. My wife had some pancakes. She ordered 2 different kinds and a side of bacon. Neither the pancakes nor the bacon were great according to her. The pancakes seemed off somehow according to her taste wise. I don't eat pancakes so I can't comment on them. The bacon was really freakin' crispy the way it should be! However it had a funny after taste it was weird...I can't place the taste. It's like they cooked the bacon in the grease of some other type of meat and it made it taste funny. The service was somewhat lacking. We initially got seated at a large round table for 6 people and there was just the 2 of us. We felt awkward so we asked to be reseated to a smaller table. After we placed our order and the food came out we had to wait for our server to bring syrup and Tabasco and had to ask her 3 times. We then had to wait for about 15 mins after we were done eating for the check. It wasn't busy at all so that wasn't the issue. Not the best service experience. I only gave it 3 stars because of my food and because the hosts were so nice. The restaurant is nestled into the charming historic Liberty area and the inside atmosphere is warm and inviting. This place has something for everyone. My husband and I always get the breakfast burrito and it is fabulous!! It comes with delicious rosemary breakfast potatoes. Their pancakes are also the bee's knees! I love the chocolate chip, but my husband's favorite is the peanut butter banana! So good!! They are incompetent with seating anything above four people - they don't get it, don't understand how to make that work and after 40 minutes had the gall to ask us if our party was all there. The waitress was serviceable and so I will go with a 0.5 for her. I had the Gravy boat or scatter or something, but it was some scramble eggs with dirty potatoes, a bit of meat and a load of milk gravy. My daughter had banana peanut butter pancakes - they are each the size of your head and the waitress allowed her to order four - four reals! The menu had some options and what I had was ok, so I'll give it a 2.5/3 - meh, I could go to Perkins and get similar. Overall, don't waste your time if they say the wait is more than 5 minutes. read more

Best pancakes in town, great Benedicts, and very unique, tasty omelettes (turkey avocado is a favorite). We went around 1pm on a Friday, and there were a few tables open. With breakfast served all day, it was tough to choose between the egg white turkey omelette or a lunch item. I decided on the house-made black bean burger served with apple slaw. The burger were definitely handmade- very tasty, topped with spicy salsa, but very soft in texture. I'd order it again, but the bun was a white bun rather than the wheat that was noted on the menu. A small detail, but if ordering as a healthy option, it's something to note. read more

Every single time I go to this little gem I'm always beyond delighted...the bacon is the most divine burst of flavors ever...makes you think of your grandmas bacon, you know how everything grandma cooked was amazing!! And the banana pancakes w/peanut butter, just simply WOW!!! Live on the wild side and order the Salmon Benedict, you will not be disappointed!! I seriously loved every bite of it, but its definitely shareable!! This is one thing that makes you go mmmm mmmm mmmm out loud!!!! Great variety of menu options - so much so that our group ordered a little bit of everything, even some things to share amongst the group. The service was fine - not spectacular, but good enough. I'm always frustrated when the food doesn't come out together and the server acts surprised that people are sitting w/o a plate in front of them. The bacon is incredible: sugar, pepper and rosemary glazed. The pancakes are think and there are a variety of choices for fillings. The eggs benedict was great, and the chicken fried steak was "as big as a license plate" and covered in yummy gravy. This place smells like a diner as soon as you enter. It has a nice homey feel, without feeling like a cliché. I had the fried chicken salad with homemade honey mustard dressing. It was a really nice portion - lots of crisp salad pieces covered with tons of fried chicken bites. The homemade dressing was very good. Hubby had a burger with homemade bacon and the apple coleslaw. The coleslaw was very light and had a crisp flavor and I thought it was a nice touch to the hamburger and fries. The burger had a good flavor but came out a little overdone for him. Those apple cinnamon pancakes!! They are like pancakes on clouds - what dreams are made of - maybe I'm taking this a bit far. It can be eaten by itself without being smothered in syrup. I usually order a half stack to share (2 pancakes for $3.50), because they are ginormous! When they have the pumpkin seasonal, those are pretty good, too. I've tried a couple other menu items, but they were so-so. I say stick to the pancakes with a side of eggs! Overall, good service and nice location. Food is pretty good. Bacon was real good. Through the years price has crept up to the point where I will not pay it. Even a salad comes in at $16+ and two biscuits and gravy is $7 which was only $3.50 when I ate their last.... The last time we went, I let the family eat and I watched.
