It's been a few years since I had stopped here for coffee but with all the back and forth trips to Iowa this fall, I was able to stop in a couple times. This place is very busy on Sunday mornings but the line goes quick and you don't have to wait long for your coffee and food to be ready because they have several friendly faces working behind the counter. The store sits back off the road at the back of the parking lot, which was full when I got there. The coffee shop is a cute shop that is on the smaller size. I ended up ordering a Latte and a ham and cheese melt. For the space being on the smaller size they had a large food and drink menu for a coffee shop. Hammerhand Coffee in Liberty is one of my favorite coffee spots. The space is bright and modern, with a clean, open feel that's perfect for hanging out or getting some work done. I ordered a latte and it was smooth, not too sweet, and really well made. You can tell they care about the quality of their coffee. They also had a few pastries to choose from. The blueberry muffin was fresh and just the right amount of sweet. The staff was friendly and quick, even during a busy morning. Great local spot. This coffee shop has good coffee, a variety of pastries, and more food options like burritos and sandwiches. There are not many other coffee shops in the area so it can get crowded inside but they also have a table outside. You can usually find people chatting inside and others working/ studying. Great place! Only drawbacks were how busy it is and it's not a big place, so it felt crowded. There's also only 1 public bathroom w 1 stall, so the wait for that is long and annoying. But the coffee and food were fabulous! The Cinnamon Vanilla Iced Latte was Horchata-esque, which I was hoping for. Delicious! Love how I could taste the flavor AND the coffee- one didn't overwhelm the other. The cherry cheese danish was filled with decadent cream cheese and juicy plump cherries, and the breakfast burritos were perfectly grilled and stuffed with yumminess. You get your choice of bacon, sausage, or chorizo. Staff was friendly. Lots of outlets for laptop working. Free water & cups are available for everyone- always a nice perk. Another review on here mentions that they stay open until 8:00, but they no longer do FYI. If I'm ever in Liberty again, I'll likely come here again to try another coffee and/or treat! read more

There's no other place you should be grabbing a brew or buying beans in Liberty, period. A local roaster, we only found out about them through another shop (Apogee in Olathe) who sells their beans. Hammerhand offers a subscription plan where beans are delivered directly to your door on a regular basis for a much better price point than local coffee bought at other retailers. (Looking at you, Whole Foods) The interior is modest and could use sprucing if they ever want to compete with more "aesthetic" shops in the metro. Every resident in Liberty should be frequenting this gem on the regular! read more

I went at 10:20am on a Sunday morning and it was packed with a long line- half an hour later, I had both my food and my coffee- I had time, so I did not mind the wait. This place took ahold of me the first time I got the chance to try it! Ever since I've thoroughly enjoyed getting to come in here and enjoy a latte and a pastry or food while I study. Anything I've tried on their menu is tasty, they roast their own beans in the back which you don't see at alot of local spots that aren't downtown! It's a great spot to work or study if you need a place away from home. The burritos and paninis are fantastic, and the drinks are my favorite in the area! My go to is always just a cinnamon vanilla latte. I don't get the chance to just sit down enjoy my coffee usually I'm on the run, so it's great to actually be able to have a quiet space to enjoy it in and this is it! After school on the weekdays it does get loud in here as a bunch of school kids come and get smoothies and whatnot but other than that it's pretty lax. Highly recommend! read more

I recently stopped by and was shocked I had not been in before. I live close by but just had not tried. When you pull in, you may think it's too busy because the parking lot is shared with neighboring businesses. But even when they are busy, they are always very quick. I've had a few different Lattes and other coffee drinks now, and I've enjoyed them all. The show stopper for me is the cinnamon roll. I'm sure I've gained 10 lbs. But it's worth it. One of my favorite coffee shops in the metro Kansas City area. It's a little gem located in Liberty. It's always busy in the morning but it's worth stopping in. They have a few long tables and outlets everywhere which makes it a great place to study or work from. It can be a little noisy in the morning with families, but overall great atmosphere. I've tried their seasonal drinks -- their raspberry white chocolate mocha in the winter was delicious. I wish you could order it year round. read more

I was recommended Hammerhand Coffee about a week ago and decided to check it out since I was up North. When I arrived the parking was easy and accessible. When we walked in, there was not a ton of seating in the small area and it was pretty full. There is some outdoor seating however it was pretty cold out today. The shop stays pretty loud when it is busy as the space is small. Other than the little seating, everything was amazing. I got a caramel latte half sweet, a protein ball, and brown sugar cinnamon pop tart. The coffee was solid and the pop tart would've been even better warmed up. I would definitely check it out again. Their specials are worth ordering today I enjoyed a Raspberry White Chocolate latte. Best limited edition flavor yet. My usual is the Vanilla Cinnamon Flat White. They have a great selection of dairy-free options too. Now for the serious coffee connoisseur, their beans! I will have to admit I am a coffee snob. I am taking single origin, precisely measured, and timed pour over. Hammerhand has the best single origin beans in all of the Kansas City metropolitan area! For those less particular about their beans and those who drink faux coffee (decaf), their decalf is pretty good too. Very flavorful and is the only decalf I have found to be worth drinking. ( I did mention I was a coffee snob, didn't I?). I enjoy working or having meetings here because it is a bright and always clean. During good weather I like to sit on the sidewalk bistro tables. I had a great experience at Hammerhand. This shop is located in the historic downtown Liberty Square nestled among other cafes, a theater, antique shops, etc. The interior of Hammerhand is very modern and bright. The staff was super friendly and offered great recommendations. You can tell it's all about the coffee here. I sat down with a Mayan Mocha (espresso, chocolate, chai spices, and cayenne pepper) and chocolate filled pastry which was flaky and delicious. It was a cool rainy day, when I stepped into Hammerhand. What a perfect experience I had..... The interior was light and open, while still being cozy. The decor was what I would consider modern, and "hipster" without the pretentious edge that is sometimes experienced in other coffeehouses. The menu looked like it changed from day to day, (computerized) and boasted of house made flavor syrups. I was excited about that, but that excitement grew as I read some of their roasted bean tasting notes. New concept , but reminiscent of Oddly Correct, and Monarch bean offerings. The front desk staff was so nice, accommodating, and explanatory. Does anyone realize how hard that is to find at certain coffeehouses?? I immediately gravitated towards a pour over coffee that featured tasting notes of lemon, and nougat. The pour over arrived at my table in a glass beaker, accompanied by a small coffee cup on a wood tray. The lemon was the predominate flavor, and was most sharp at a lukewarm temp. To my surprise the nougat notes were tasted only at a cooler temp.That cup went down smooth, and left me wishing for more! I will be a repeat customer for sure. Every few months I drive my wife to her Dr's appointment in Liberty. Hammerhand has become a pleasant way to spend my time waiting for her. I get my regular cortado and find a seat by the window to watch the goings on of the Historic Liberty Square. Growing up in this town, it's fun to see the changes that have occurred. Hammerhand has positively added to the environment. It has taken an old space and not just added a retail spot, but with the professional attitude of roasting and dispensing a quality bean, they have created another reason that the area has become a destination location for area residents. Liberty MO has a beautiful vibrant downtown square. This little coffee shop sits on the corner of the square. Today we ordered a Large vanilla latte and black cold brew. Both were really good. The cold brew is a tad bit on the bitter side when you drink it black. I am a lover of extra strong black coffee. Every true coffee test starts with the basic black with nothing added. I would call it good coffee, but not my favorite cold brew. The vanilla latte was excellent. They do roast their own beans. I learned today that they sell their beans in Hyvee stores. I'll have to get some. They also sell beans right there in the coffee shop as well. I look forward to returning so I can try ther other menu items. read more

Hammerhand is a welcome coffee joint in a sun-drenched space on Main Street USA in Liberty. This cool (and semi-temporary, more on that in a sec) space is just what the doctor ordered for local coffee enthusiasts. I'm not in downtown Liberty often, but I was up for a meeting and had to check out this new spot when seeing it nearby on Yelp. The space is really cool and the staff was friendly. They said that they originally had a lease catty-corner to where they are now but the building collapsed. Good timing on that happening before they opened! They'll likely be moving there in a year or so when it's ready. The baked goods looked amazing from Sasha's, and are delivered daily. I just got a black coffee and while it was enjoyable enough, it wasn't my favorite blend ever. I was there late morning so it's possible it had been on the burner for a bit. All in all a nice local spot, a crispy interior and somewhere I'd go back to when I'm around. read more

Hammerhand coffee is a simple space with great coffee. The staff are always friendly and all about the beans. There's no overly chatty folks trying to wrangle you into a conversation, but if you're up for some chit chat, they'll always oblige... for awhile anyway. It's clean and fresh, the coffee it hot and smooth, and the corner spot is charming. I love the Mayan Mocha and the stevia vanilla, thank you for being on the stevia train. It amazes me when coffee shops don't have a stevia option and that is a pretty frequent occurrence. Hammerhand makes their own vanilla flavoring with stevia and it's lovely. The Liberty square is really coming together and businesses like Hammerhand are a large part of recent successes. Good house coffee and espresso. Espresso served with shot of seltzer which bumps rating up a star for me! The atmosphere is less than ideal for longer talks and has a little more industrial restaurant feel. Wooden or metal seats are not as comfortable. I would say it was average. I would return for the coffee. read more
