Lamar's did not disappoint! It was oooooh wowzers yummy... and we are donut snobs, in that, if and when we splurge off our health track, we go big or go home peeps; when it comes to donuts. Literally everything we sampled was OUTSTANDING and TOP SHELF in flavor, variety, freshness, consistency, and overall taste. Amazing! Worth every single calorie and $! Can't return here fast enough. We will be back! read more

I love Lamar's donuts. Hard stop. But this location gives the brand a bad name. The size of the glazed donuts is half the size of traditional Lamar's glazed. It's clear they're creating a larger profit margin, but it's at the expense of the brand. If I can help it, I avoid this location. Lee's Summit and Blue Springs are undefeated. read more

Lamar's is the only place I get donuts from anymore. I've been going here since I moved from Texas 18 years ago, and nothing else comes close. The donuts are always fresh and taste great. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is the young lady getting my donuts seemed rushed and not very friendly, which isn't what I usually experience here. read more

The prices here are much cheaper than the downtown Lamar's locations. Very busy in the mornings but they do stock very well and the line moves quickly. Super soft fluffy yeast donuts including chocolate yeast donuts made with chocolate dough which is unique to Lamar's. Delicious raisin n spice cake donuts too. All staff have always been super friendly and efficient! read more

Very good donuts no real ambiance other than the terrific smell of fresh donuts. The service is always good

This place is one of my favorite donut shops in the area! There is always a line which is your first clue at it being one of the best! Even though they are always busy, they keep the line moving! Their donuts are delicious and enormous! Today is National donut day (2 June 2023), and they were giving out free donuts! I went for the OG glazed donut for the free one. If you have one near you and haven't tried it yet, you are missing out! read more

I went in to grab donuts for my brothers birthday and they were so quick and kind! Big time fan of the current weekday staff, it makes it fun to go get some of my favorite donuts in North America! read more

Unfortunately, this is the predominate chain in the area. The donuts are way too sweet- I have a major sweet tooth, but these disgust me with the excessive sugar ratio. The beignet donut was very bland. The others were simply too sweet. Won't be back. read more

LaMar's used to have Long Johns the size of my forearm. They're normal sized now like any other donut shop. I stopped in to get a split dozen - 6 large & 6 small - this week. When I got to the register I actually paid MORE than 1 dozen large (over $25), because they ring it up as 6 single small + 6 single large rather than 1/2 dozen of each. They said the "dozen" price is a discount for buying a dozen. I bought a dozen, but got nowhere with them, so I paid and left. They should explain that when I first told them I'm ordering a split dozen, which I do at other donut shops and get the dozen price (a blended rate of 1/2 the small dozen rate + 1/2 the large dozen rate normally). If I knew I was going to pay MORE for this dozen than a full dozen LARGE donuts, I'd have just gotten the dozen large and skipped all the small ones. At the very least, they should just charge the "large dozen" price. read more

Obsessed with the raisin spice cake donut! I could eat a dozen easily. All the donuts were tasty and freshly made.

Alright, all you need to know is - get the Bavarian cream filled donut. Holy heavens that thing made my morning! I would've given this place 5 stars for the donut alone but the coffee needs some help so I had to kick it down to a 4. read more

In for the first time yesterday after my wife had a couple of glazed thanks to a co-worker. We received friendly, expedient service. Simply, the donuts are to die for and the selection is good. If you are impatient or health conscious, you probably shouldn't eat donuts, at least not at Lamar's as we are told there can be a line which in my view speaks to the quality. For the record, our wait time was nominal. In the event you are jonesing for world-class donuts, look no further than Lamar's. read more

I used to LOVE their glazed donuts. Stopped in today to grab a couple and they have shrunk in size by quite a bit. I'm very disappointed to see this. Less for more money. Not a good practice. read more

All i will say recently i visited this establishment usually a good place for donuts however this recent trip saw a "Mouse" foot inside the donut. I believe this is to be honest a lack of care and concern for both the business which just had some employees who had covid. Then clay county health department obviously not doing their job. Liberty you on notice. Get that together before you business is closed and cancelled. Lamar donut is a Kc landmark. And this is fact and real, obviously someone should check their items to ensure no one gets killed. read more

Lamars is ok. The donuts are good and the service is too but dont think ill be back in the foreseeable future. Heres my take-away... came on a Saturday morning around 10 o clock and there were so many people the line had to spiral around in the store just to fit everyone. "Oh well just go when they aren't busy." And what time is that? They are only open until 12:30pm. Meanwhile Donut King on Armour road is open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. most days of the week. What does that mean? Better hours means we don't have legions of people all showing up at the same time to get donuts. The donuts I got today were ok. I bought a cherry donut...but there was no cherry flavor. I bought a caramel donut but the way he placed it in the box left most of the icing stuck to the box. This place is really close to me, and I've had some good donuts here but these hours truly suck and the should consider getting a bigger store if there are going to be that many people in there. read more

Holy freaking moly. We were totally craving donuts and LaMar's knocked it out of the park. We're here visiting and this was our first time having LaMar's. These donuts are phenomenal. read more

Oh, Lamar's - why are your donuts so delicious and your service so bad?... The donuts really are wonderful - fluffy, great flavor, decent selection early in the morning - before 10. On the other hand, the people at the counter act like it is a race to get you through the line. (Not everyone comes in daily to know their order by heart.) I'm not sure if it's high school apathy or just the vibe of the place. If you can get past the feeling of a Southwest boarding experience, the donuts .almost. make up for it. read more

Hands down the best cake donuts I've ever had! Tender, moist and very fresh, Lamar's donuts are a must-have for any pastry fanatic. The raisin spice, apple spice and glazed old fashions are my faves, but the chocolate crulers are also in the running. Fast & friendly service gets you in and out with a dozen donuts for ~$10 (1/2 dozen is $5.75). read more

Best. Donuts. Ever! I have traveled all over the US, and these are, hands down, the very best! The raspberry Bismarck is filled with REAL raspberry filling, there are the raspberry seeds as proof. The Long Johns are filled for you to order, so they are fresh and not weirdly soggy like others I've had. Just the best! read more

Absolutely the best donuts in town!! They have a great variety of classics and some fun specialty flavors as well! They are perfectly fluffy and yummy! read more

went there this morning and was disenchanted with the service. the gal behind the counter was lazily leaning against the counter with a blank look on her face when we walked in. no change of expression or greeting as we walked toward the counter. I'm sorry, but you canNOT work at a donut shop and be such. a. DRAB! it's donuts!!! and we had a cute little kid with us, too. when I asked the gal if there was a donut they are known for, she just sort of shrugged and looked at the donuts in the case as if she in fact resented this question because she, actually HATES DONUTS...and joy. I eventually got a hesitant, "uh, I don't know really...I guess the glazed is popular." I'm sorry but you canNOT work at a donut shop and not be or at least seem to be enthusiastic about donuts. you should also probably know why your donuts are unique and be able to give a more creative suggestion to a customer inquiring about popular flavors. or just seem really enthusiastic about the glazed. I am giving this place three stars, and not two, because the glazed donuts we ordered did indeed end up being good. I am sure if we would have gotten them when they were fresh, they would have melted in our mouths. I'd go back at the possibility of a chance at getting a fresh glazed donut. customer service, enthusiasm, and knowledge of a product you carry is important to me when I patronize a place, though. customer service and enthusiasm especially when I walk into an empty donut shop with my six-year-old. read more

This review is regarding the plain glazed donuts only. I don't like cake donuts. I really like yeast donuts. I have tried donuts from many different vendors, as well as making them at home. Making them at home revealed to me how truly superior a glazed donut made with quality ingredients can be. I arrived at LaMar's around 9:30, so I realize that certainly isn't peak time as far as freshness. I wanted to try a LaMar's donut because the donut scene in KC is, frankly, kind of a desert wasteland. Took my first bite of the plain glazed (which was $1.10 with tax). Thought "Eh, this tastes kinda weird but maybe it's just this particular bite." Took second bite. Same. I think the main problems I had with the donut were that the glaze was overly sweet and artificial-tasting, and the donut itself tasted like old oil. Texture was similar to a Krispy Kreme. I love a little more doughiness in a yeast donut. I wasn't impressed, but again, I went in looking for some very specific qualities. If you like cake donuts this may be a hit; I wouldn't know. The great Kswizzle donut search continues. read more

Seriously, I am so happy to be living so close to what has to be the best donuts in the city. Lamars donuts are so damn fabulous. They are delicious, light, and airy. I love that even when I gorge myself on a fat, chocolate long john, that it doesn't feel like I am biting into a mound of dough. Lamars donuts have this lightness about them that is absolutely perfect, yet it doesn't sacrifice on any of the flavor. This place has become a Sunday morning staple for our family, and if you have the means to get to Lamars, it should be yours too! read more

Been back here about 6 times and the donuts are just as awesome as EVER. If you love fresh baked sugary fried treats, you will love this donut shop. You will spend more money here, but you will also get a mouth full of memories. The service is also exceptional, but who cares, the pastries ROCK. Have had Chocolate, Maple, Apple Fritter, Cinn-Roll, Glazed, Citrus, and everything else edible and love them all. read more

LaMar's has some of the best donuts in Kansas City. Forget Dunkin' or the sugar bombs from Krispy Kreme, LaMar's is where its at. Light, fluffy glazed donuts with just the right amount of sweetness and a slight crunch to the dough, amazing cake donuts, and my favorite, the sour cream. I was kind of disappointed to learn that they're a chain: http://www.lamars.com/locations/, but that doesn't change the fact that they're delicious. read more

Wow is all I can say. Simply the best. I love the staff, donuts, and the coffee. I have seriously been all over the Northland, and these are the best. Yes they are busy on Saturday. Amended review from 4 stars: I went into Lamar's this morning only to find out I'd left my wallet at home. I did have my checkbook. I visit this Lamar's all the time and recognize every face. I asked if I could write a check (which I'd done before, but it had been a while). The people looked at me like they'd never seen me, then told me they would get in trouble if they accepted a check. I could understand if I was not a regular customer. Anyway, my 7 year old started crying and this nice man behind us offered to buy him 2 donuts. If this is how Lamar's treats customers, I will NOT return. I still give them a 5 for their donuts, but will not return based on customer service. read more

I can't say enough about this place. Some of the best donuts I've ever had. Warm, soft, tasty. I stop here every time I'm in Liberty.

This is the ONLY place around KC that makes donuts that I'll eat. Great homemade donuts with a great variety. You'll love the selection and taste! Go EARLY or you'll not have much of a selection.
