Came for the first time for lunch after shopping at the outlets. The food was great, but the service was not so great. My sister and I came 30 minutes after they opened, so it wasn't very busy. We placed our order fairly quickly, and waited, and waited some more. The table next to us (who were seated about 10 mins after us) received their lunch soups and full meals, before our soup ever came. After waiting about 15 mins after they took our orders, finally soup arrives, then food. No water, and never saw our waiter again. Until it was time for us to pay the bill. read more

I've been coming here for a long time. Before the new management took over everything was beer perfect every time we had dinner. Now it took for ever to get water. Not an extensive Dim Sum menu, but they have one little abstract jewel that you don't see too often. Steamed Lobster Dim Sum. Absolutely stunning! One of the best Dim Sum Dishes in California and I've dined at many. Most Americans are ignorant to Dim Sum, most have never tried. Horrible Experience with Tin.. the Supposed "manager". When asked if I could substitute my scoop of rice or fried rice for another cup of soup, I was told no... I asked if there was anything I could switch to due to dietary needs. And tin replied "no" .. I explained why I couldn't eat the rice and he suggested I go elsewhere if I don't like it. I then became flustered. As he's standing over us at our table he then says to me that he's the manager and if I don't like others opinions I can leave. I then asked him to provide another server.. he said he won't do that. Then repeated that if I don't like it I can leave. I stoop up and had to literally ask him to leave us alone at that point as he was lingering above me waiting for more of a reaction. When he came back with my food witch is delicious, it had the fried rice all On top of it. I was so shocked that I didn't know what to say. Tin is the worst hospitality personality to be around! It was our first time in this place. My wife was craving for dimsums while we were shopping in the outlets. The place has a nice ambiance with high ceiling and such. We were seated right away but we waited for 15mins for someone to approach us. We've been trying to make an eye contact with anyone but we felt that we were being avoided or maybe they're just too busy. Then a tall blonde server walked our direction. She was going to the bar as we were seated on the corner of it. We got her attention and she asked if we're ready to order. We ordered our food and then we asked their drinks options. She quickly got a drinks menu from another table and then she asked if we want to start with the food first. We agreed as we were starving and they were busy. We didnt want to wait for another long time for our food. 15 mins after we ordered our drinks, one of our apprtizers came in. They havent even served us waters yet. We were trying to get anyones attention and a small brunette server passed by us. We asked her for waters and small plate for condiments. She said ok but she never came back. After 10 more minutes, a guy brought our fried rice entree. We asked him for waters and he gave it to us right away. After we finished our fried rice, the rest of our appetizers and drink order was brought by a different lady. Everything was a hot mess. Nobody checked on us. The blonde lady only came back for our check. The food was ok but the service made the dining experience terrible. Our check was $65. I have had wayyyyyy better tasting fried rice at Panda Express and no where near the cost it is here...I ordered the pineapple fried rice and honestly it has absolute no taste at all, I was expecting something unique especially for $15 but nope taste is bland at maximum but at least now I know, I'll just stick to other places that offer fried rice at more than half the price it is here The staff was friendly and the place was clean however this is gilroy not Beverly Hills sorry guys maybe you established in the wrong area read more

This is a great choice for Chinese cuisine in Gilroy. The food is hot and delicious and the service is fast and friendly. The price for the entrees are a little high, but you pay for quality (It's not fast food). We usually get an entree or two with egg fried rice and chow mein. I like to recommend the chili chicken (if you are used to spicy food), as it is one of my favorites on the menu. The atmosphere is very nice and it is a great place to take a date or for dinner night with the family. Thank you Ginger Cafe for another great meal! read more

I come to this restaurant all the time. I usually like to take advantage of the great prices for happy hour on the weekdays. The food is always excellent. There is so much flavor. My favorite dish is the egg flower soup. It's so good, I love the onions and garlic with the tender chicken dumplings. Sometimes the service is slower than I'd like but it's totally worth it when I get my food. The only thing that really needs work is the tables are kind if wobbly and have chips in them. This is a good place to eat. The food was made fresh and was great tasting. Small miscommunication on the waiters part. Came here for my moms birthday and it did not disappoint. The service was great. They answered any questions we had and we had quite a few. Our appetizers came out quick and they were very tasty. We had 3 different dishes two of which where vegetarian and they did not disappoint. My mom had a Tokyo Tea that was very strong but very good. Our waitress kept checking on us but not too much that we felt overwhelmed. It was reasonably priced in my opinion because of the atmosphere and the quality of the food. 2nd attempt to give this place a try. First time we went food was decent service was not. We were really hoping todays attempt would be different. Didn't even make to our table after host told us to wait five minutes that turned into 15 minutes. Meanwhile five employees were standing at the bar looking frazzled. We did not get acknowledged again that they were going to take care of us. They had tables open and I could see a couple of tables that needed to be cleaned up. You would think they would take care of a family of three with a baby, didn't even bother. We got up and left and none of the employees even noticed. We will definitely not be going back. I am glad that this little cafe is next to Lululemon, where I normally shop till I drop... and I come here to refuel. They have a happy hour on food and drinks here. Though the deals aren't amazing, but a deal is a deal! I got ha gow (steamed shrimp dumplings) and an order of Vietnamese spring rolls, all for under $10. I didn't care much for the ha gow. It had a very strange taste to it, sort of like if you microwave something that's been frozen for a long, long time, that kind of plasticky taste to it. The spring rolls were massive, but were messily wrapped so as I was eating them, the fillings kept falling out. I also didn't like the taste quite as much, it was very, very bland. The service was OK, I think if I ever went back, I would try some of their hot dishes, or maybe their drinks during happy hour. read more

The dumplings are amazing. They call them gyoza (the Japanese word) but these are actually the Chinese dim sum style. They are so good you don't need sauce, which is good because they don't give you any! Our entrees were respectable. The upscale decor and corteous service help you forget that you are eating at a huge mall in Gilroy. Also, they stay open later than their neighboring restaurants, so you can grab something for your evening drive. read more

Wonderful service! This place is great, the people are very nice and the food is yummy! I made a new years resolution to eat vegan for 6weeks, and was very hesitant to eat out anywhere from fear that they would put some animal product in my food. My friend told me about this place and decided to try it out. I asked the server tons of questions and he was SO helpful and even brought out the packaging of there vegan meat substitute so I could read the ingredients!! This is actually one of my favorite places to eat in Gilroy. I always get a mojito when I come here, it's really refreshing. A few reviews of things I've had: - Hot & sour soup: I'm not a soup person at all. But I tried this once and have been getting it ever since. It has a lot of flavor and is really nice on a cold day - Sautéed lamb with cumin: my FAVORITE dish on the menu. Sometimes the lamb has more cumin than other days. It really just depends when you go I suppose. But I still eat it every time. Cooked perfectly. I always look forward to it. - Crispy tofu in mandarin sauce: I don't really like tofu usually either. But my sister got this and I tried a few pieces. I couldn't even tell it was tofu! It was delicious. The only tofu I have ever really enjoyed. - Mango chicken: I've had this twice now and didn't really like it. But my friend recently got it and he loved it. I tried some of his and still didn't like it. I guess this really just depends on your personal taste buds. If you're just getting a meat dish, don't forget to order rice on the side! The small is usually enough for 2 people. When I go out with my family we get the large for 4 people and still have some left over. But we usually get noodles or something also. I'm not one for seafood, but people i've gone with have also really enjoyed the caramelized garlic prawns. read more

We noticed other patrons were seated in the nicer back dining room, and we asked to be moved. --Why did they place us at the front of the 'house'? -- We were moved. The food here is unusual. Yes, to each his own, 'cept this place baffled us. We ordered what we thought we knew, and when it arrived, it looked unusual. I sampled each dish, and immediately found the food highly undesireable.
