Pineapple Village, 769, 1st Street,…read moreGilroy, CA95020. Southeast Asian cuisine. The interior of the restaurant was modern looking and had a nice ambiance. The restaurant was fairly busy. The server was friendly. However, service was a little slow as they seemed to be under-staffed as there was only 1 server present the whole time that we were there. The food was decent but unmemorable. Although it was supposed to be a South East Asian cuisine, it didn't taste like it. ~ Hot & Sour Soup ~ Sizzling Beef Mignon ~ Belacan Mixed Vegetable

Although I had an intense headache towards the end of the dinner, the food was good. My favorite…read moredish was the spicy garlic eggplant. I like how the vegetables were soft but not mushy and over cooked or drenched in oil. Last night I almost ordered the tamarind baby back ribs. Since I am staying away from pork, I went with the waitress's recommendation of sizzling beef with red bell pepper. Excellent! We came here for the pad thai and it was so ordinary. I should not trust a person who doesn't like seafood. How am I going to share a meal with someone that doesn't eat fish? My whole protein diet is based on fish and red meat. You come here to drink Thai Tea with extra cream not a shot of whiskey for $6.00. It was a good business meeting but I am going to have to come back here with someone who really enjoys food. This is the second time I have gone to eat with someone who kind of ruined the experience of a new restaurant for me. It is not their fault. I had a headache and now I have a low tolerance for people who are not on the same vibe as me.

I've been going to TK since I was a little kid, so I already understand how these types of…read morefamily-owned Asian restaurants usually operate, and honestly that's why I didn't take everything personally. As an Asian person myself, I respect the hustle because I know restaurant life is hard and they probably deal with all kinds of customers daily. That being said, you can definitely feel the difference between locations. The Fremont location has always felt warmer, friendlier, and more relaxed. Maybe it's the location or the type of customers they deal with, I'm not sure, but the Gilroy location gave a much more controlling vibe that I personally didn't like. At other TK locations, they usually let customers pack their own condiments or freely grab what they need. Here, everything felt very monitored and limited. We ordered two dishes and only got tiny amounts of chili oil and toppings. I even accidentally grabbed an extra straw because my drink straw was already packed in the bag, but honestly the overall vibe made me assume they probably forgot it. The way she looked at me after mentioning it made the interaction feel awkward, like I did something wrong over a straw. I understand restaurants are trying to save money because everything is expensive now, and they probably deal with customers taking too much. I get it. But the overall vibe just came across as overly strict and cheap to me personally. Even paying extra for pork grinds felt weird because instead of putting it in a separate container so I could actually see the portion, they just tossed it into the bowl. I also asked for the rice to be packed separately so it wouldn't get soggy by the time my husband got home, and it felt like I was asking for too much. The food itself was still really good, which is why this review is disappointing to write. This is the closest TK to my house, so I genuinely hope they stay open and do well. I just hope the customer service becomes a little warmer and less controlling when it comes to condiments and small requests. Not trying to bash an Asian-owned business at all -- just being honest as someone who's been eating TK for years. I'd still come back for takeout because the food is solid. I did kill my soup at home tho!

We are seated toward the back of the restaurant, yet his yelling is so loud that we can hear him clearly throughout the dining area and even into the kitchen. This behavior is extremely disruptive and is making it difficult for customers to enjoy their meals. I strongly encourage TK Noodle management to address the situation and take appropriate action to ensure a comfortable environment for all customers. If this continues, it could discourage customers from returning.

I live a few minutes' drive from Tea Leaf, but didn't even know it existed until about a year ago…read morewhen I met friends for tea and board games there one morning. I was immediately struck by how light, airy, calm and friendly it was. The staff have never been anything other than pleasant and helpful, the decor is cosy but sunny, and the food and drinks are fantastic. I go there maybe once a week now, usually when I need a change of scenery while I'm writing or researching. The menu has so many great options on and I've never had anything there that wasn't delicious...but my personal favourite is the mint lemon tea, 50% sweet and made with Assam black tea. It's refreshing in the California heat and so much healthier than reaching for another can of soft drink. They also serve boba teas, milk teas and everything else you'd expect from a good Vietnamese tea shop. As for the food, they serve banh mi, spring rolls, rice bowls and so on. They also have my great weakness: banh mi fries. Crispy, freshly cooked fries topped with banh mi picked cucumber and carrot, coriander, chilli peppers and spicy sriracha, optionally with your choice of protein - pork belly, in my case - and despite TRYING not to order it every single time...I order it, every single time. So delicious, and (like all their offerings) in a very generous portion that would be great to share with a friend. I've tried some of the other options such as their shrimp spring rolls, and nothing has ever been anything short of fresh, good value and very tasty. I'm so glad there are places like this in my local community. A slightly hidden gem.

We crave the boba and snacks and Highly recommend this business. Get the shrimp spring rolls if you want something lite they are big enough for 2 people to share. My Daughters favorite is the popcorn chicken. If you like spicy like she does, make sure when you place your order you ask for extra spicy. The portions are right and fun to share. I always end up eating my friends banh mi fries. The food it tasty and the boba is fresh. So many drink options I can't wait to try them all. This place is so good, I'm not surprised that they are always busy. SEE YOU on our next visit from Santa Cruz ! love you Gilroy
