When moving to a new area, one doesn't think much about medical care - something we take for granted... the fact that we might easily be able to find another practitioner to assume care.
I had chosen poorly on a first PCP and when that MD closed practice shortly after initializing care, my file was transferred to Dr Gillespie. This should have been clue one as that MD wasn't kind and his staff were hired at Gillespies...
My initial visit was fair, although I found the desk staff impersonal. The MD talked down to me the entire appointment - even so much so as to show me how to use a nasal spray!
As an RN I found this pretty demeaning and attempted to have my needs met through my GYN office - however in CA, medicine is very specific and unbundled and one must see the proper practitioner for each and every need and I was forced to come back here.
The office always take your weight then blood pressure immediately after .. in the middle of the hallway with people always around, then wonder why your blood pressure is raised.
Long story short, I've had a number of issues over these couple years here and this practice never sought to know me - what name I prefer to use, or how my body presents or responds to symptoms and medications. At my appointments I observed others receiving care and concern with personalism and even laughter, so I stayed with this practice thinking they might find the same concern for me.
The practice - although more Dr Gillespie than Leta Ward the RNP - cannot think outside the box, are not effective seeking out potential hidden diagnosis nor do they seem to care about overall well being. Something I very much want from my PCP !
Dr Gillespie controls how Leta practices as well and sadly where she has the potential to be great, she is not allowed to practice outside of "norm" and in fact I was told to go back to an education medical care system I'd never been to, to seek care because I do respond outside of the norm.
This practice is afraid to step outside of normal medicine to meet its patients needs and practice a very negligent sort of medicine.
They will ask for money if you are one appointment billing behind - before allowing you to be seen. Boy does that leave a nasty taste in your mouth... when you check in at the desk to be hit up for money!
The office often refers a person out to urgent care if it is hard to get appointments.
The final straw came when I went to my appointment in severe discomfort and Dr Gillespie had another agenda than to listen to or even examine me .. his agenda clearly had only to do with protecting himself.
I was denied care that day, accused of lying and via Urgent care after a weekend of agony, was diagnosed with a severe lung issue! No wonder it hurt so badly to breathe!
I do not suggest this office and would be smart to seek out my legal options!
I terminated them for what they did, requesting my file and cancelling the HIPPA release, and then received a letter in the mail terminating me!! Wow. Nasty people. No care or concern there! read more
