I have just switched insurance and Dr. O'Connor was assigned as my primary care physician. I made an appointment due to having what felt like a sinus infection. He gave explained everything in detail and really listened to me. I'll just say that my left sinus has felt closed up and just wrong for years. Other doctors would say allergies and just flush it while Dr. O'Connor gave me a way to flush my nose that no other doctor would have done. Along with antibiotics my left sinus cavity hasn't felt this great in years. I feel normal again. He is also treating my high blood pressure, cholesterol and figured out that I have a certain type of anxiety that can be lessened with medication to help with lowering my stress and actually sleep better. I would never recommend this doctor after the way he treated me yesterday. I had a bill for 50.00 because I canceled my appointment later than the 24 hour window. I called the other day to pay it over the phone. Later that night my bank sent be an alert saying my card was charged 350.00 from him. It was too late to call the office so I waited until morning. I spoke to the receptionist and she said the only way to refund it was to come to the office so I did. When I went in, the receptionist told me she needed to clear it with Dr O'Connor before refunding me. I told her that was fine and I also had melt one year old baby with me. 5 minutes later Dr O'Connor stormed out of the office yelling at me and basically accusing me of lying and he refused to give me my money back. He said "I'm tired of insurances and people not paying so you won't get your money back". I tried to explain to him that I had my bill at home for 50.00 and I was able to go home and get it to show him. He continued to yell at me while there was a patient in the other room listening. He also had gloves on a a scalpel in his hand yelling at me that he was in the middle of a procedure. Mind you, I never asked him to come out. I then told him I would like my medical records and I will find a different Dr. He said "good luck ever finding someone that can fix you like I can"....he said what my problem was out loud for the other patient to hear which is a violation of HIPPA. He goes above and beyond for his patients especially in their treatment and care. I just started seeing Dr. O' Connor a few months ago because I found online that he was very educated on the back and helping people who have had back issues. Dr. O'Connor was my wife's primary physicisan. She went into his office with obvious signs of sciatica, and without even listening to her, diagnosed a slipped disc. He seems to be blinded by his "revolutionary patented slipped disc treatment" which narrows his likely diagnosis on any kind of back pain. Even though my wife could do things someone with a slipped disc could not do without excruciating pain, it didn't matter. He wants to do MRI's just to prove his point, which now, by the way, cost more since he took himself off our insurance network. Finally, he spent most of the appointment on unrelated matters. I am writing this review a few years after the great treatment I received from Doctor O'Connor. I had a situation where I went to multiple doctors and urgent cares over a period of years for help with "recurring acne" like things on my neck. It was abnormal for the recurring nature of the bumps because they would not go away. I became very frustrated and started looking things up online to see if I could figure out what was going on. The BIG medical providers just had "no real desire" to diagnose properly. The last straw for me was when I went to Dignity and the doctor told me I had "acne." I knew it wasn't acne and I was fed up with the hack job diagnoses. I decided to go to a local doctor and that's when I found Doc O'Connor. I went into him, told him my history, and that I believed I had staph. On the First visit, he took samples and within a week he confirmed I had staph very severely. When I saw him that week, he asked when I wanted to have the staph cut out, which was in multiple places on my body..... I said NOW. On that visit (not a month down the road) he cut out staph on my neck, arm, and belt line. I had endured the staph infection for a long time, and he told me I was lucky it didn't get to my brain because it could have been lethal. Not a day goes by where I am 1000% thankful that I came across Doctor O'Connor. Booked an appointment with Dr. O'Connor for back pain. Which funny enough, my new health care provider assigned him to me as my PCP. What luck! Long story short, I have been struggling with chronic upper back pain for years and got used to the pain until recently where the pain was becoming much more prominent. Dr. O'Connor took one look at me and listened to the few things I was saying about my pain and he knew exactly what was wrong. The best part about my experience is he did not want to take the route most doctors in the past have tried....pain killers, surgery, chiropractors, etc. Dr. O'Connor offered to fix my issue and I trusted him to do so based off his knowledge and professionalism. 45 minutes later I left his office pain free for the first time in about 8 years. Dr O'Connor is also great with just about all areas of medicine I discussed with him. He was teaching at UC Davis before. If you want a doctor who knows what he is doing see Dr. O'Connor. If you want one those ordinary doctors in white coats that chit chat about your family or whatever, and don't spend their time with you on the medical science then take the wrong route. I have nothing but good things to say and positive results from Dr O'connor. I'm a diesel mechanic that has had back problems for years. I have spent more than I want to admit on chiropractors, spinal injections, and so on while still having the same issues. He showed me how to take care of my lower back myself and it works. When he showed me how to adjust it I was in disbelief at how well it worked. When my back went out again I did what he showed me and was able to put it back in myself. A year down the line I blow out my knee(torn meniscus). I see a surgeon and he recommends surgery but with my life I can't afford to be down for a month. Dr. O'Connor has been my personal physician for 20 years. He is one of the most innovative and well studied doctors I have ever met. Meticulous in his history and physicals, he is the doctor who can take on all aspects of patient care. I first saw him years ago for an annular tear at L4. His treatments for back care are excellent, as is his book on back care. He is very competent in wellness care for women, and he is the best skin care physician I have ever met. I would just like to say that Dr. O'Connor is a total life saver and he definitely knows his stuff. I have had back pain for a few years now and have tried everything from buying a Tempurpedic bed to sit-ups but nothing worked. You name it, I tried it. Speaking about the sit-ups, my doctor at Kaiser recommended that I do sit-ups to strengthen my "weak" lower back muscles, but that exercise only worsened my problem. Something had to be done but what? I did not want to live with debilitating pain any more and so I decided to see Dr. O'Connor and I am 100% glad I did. My back has never felt better; in fact, it has been noticeably enhanced. What is amazing is how quickly the doctor diagnosed my problem. In 2 minutes time he knew what the issue was and walked me through a maneuver to fix the problem. After performing said maneuver my back snapped back into alignment. Miraculously, the pain was completely gone. I was speechless. Apparently, I had a pinched nerve caused by a displaced vertebrae, which Dr. O'Connor eased back into its natural, correct placement. Life changing! Pain free after over 40 + yrs of misdiagnosis!! No meds involved!!! In the past, I have had drs laugh at me during an appointment, look at me like I was a Hypochondriac. Even had one inquire to what bizarre anomaly was I bringing in to his office that day. Inconsistent pains throughout my body, unofficial fibromyalgia, was one of the many diagnosis's. I needed a new MD since our regular doc was retiring. I basically pointed at a doctors name, read a bit about him and decided to try Dr. William O'Connor. Now I have been with the Arthritis Foundation in Walnut Creek, CA. for the past 15 years with osteoarthritis of the neck, back and shoulders (at least that was the diagnosis given to me along with fibromyalgia). I went to Dr. O'Connor to establish new patient relations. He actually listened to me and made notes as we talked about the arthritis, with chronic pain in my neck-shoulder and back. As we talked about most of my pain being in my neck he did a quick assessment of what he could feel with gentle movements of my neck. He quickly observed that it wasn't arthritis but my neck was out of alignment and I have a bulging disc. All the x-rays he read from the A-Foundation were sent to him and if they were read by the A-Foundation, they would have seen this to be from a car accident at the age of 16, I am now 65. So for almost 50 years, I have suffered chronic neck issues UNTIL NOW!. Dr. O'Connor has done a manipulation of my neck and has gently put my neck back in place. I am PAIN FREE and am dumb-founded how this could happen that no one has ever caught this until now.
