I believe this doctor is competent, thorough and compassionate. Took awhile for me to build up a rapport with her, but maybe it's me.

OMG! Another horrible experience with Ella Gupta. My mother and I were both transferred to her in…read more2022 after our beloved Dr. Vincent retired. We transferred almost immediately to another primary care doctor due to her absolute lack of interpersonal skills and lack of giving a second thought to her patients. Well, this week I had the unfortunate opportunity of having her as the on call doctor and contacting me and giving me BAD MEDICAL ADVICE. I had blood tests done Tuesday. They came in in Tuesday evening, after 10 PM. I was not feeling well and was sound asleep in bed and the phone rang. I let it go to voicemail. It rang again, SUTTER. i thought that was odd, so I answered it in bed. Ella Gupta was on call and one of my blood test results said 'critical level low'. It was potassium at 3. She left a huge long message which I kept and am writing to her manager. Hopefully they act on this complaint. Bottom line was she told me I needed to get up and eat a banana. I told her did not have one. Take electrolytes. ???? Gatorade. I told her did not have that. Then she went through all the bad things that happens if potassium is low enough and that includes heart stopping and cramps and other things. She said this was nothing to mess with and I should go to ER. I said sleeping soundly and no. She said this is a 'low threshold' of feeling badly and if I felt badly in the AM go to ER. Needless to say, I wanted to go back to sleep but could not as anxiety took over. What if? I felt very badly in the AM, as I had a flu shot and acute sinus infection and LOW POTASSIUM so I got an UBER and went to North Bay ER. Had I not been on Medicare as just 65 it would have cost me $6000. I don't know what I will be charged but I WENT to the ER as she frightened me. She has a medical degree from somewhere - so I should take into account she was calling me at 11 PM? At the ER they told me no way should I have come, just take a supplement pill. While I was in the ER, the primary care doctor called and also was shocked I went to the ER with that level of potassium, and said a supplement was all that was needed. Wow. Dr. Gupta then had her office call me the next afternoon, when I was also in bed trying to SLEEP as she kept me up all night, and say I needed to get tests and see her and set that up. I told them no way and she was mistaken. I specifically told her nurse to NEVER CONTACT ME AGAIN. I already had the follow up set up with primary and the ER doctor prescribed the supplement. Dr. Gupta is completely TONE DEAF to patients. She has no idea that health care costs money. She just wants everyone to go to the ER, get all the tests imaginable. She has NO IDEA we have to pay for this. Dr. Gupta continues to have no idea how to talk to human beings. She has no human feelings. Talking to her is like talking to a rock. (I apologize to all rocks as they do not deserve the comparison) If you want good or even just OK medical care do not choose Ella Gupta. Anyone else ANYWHERE will most likely be far superior.

I chose Dr. Gupta because her bio said she treats the whole person and she really listens. I keep going back because I am waiting for the listening part, which does not happen. She likes to take lots of tests for what I do not know, since she never tells me the results. I am left trying to figure out what they mean. I end up asking 1 of my specialized doctors, who have then told me I needed to do or that, but Dr. Gupta never even bothered to do anything. I find out that I am almost a level 4 chronic kidney deasease and the I need to be seeing a kidney doctor, I did not find that out from Dr. Gupta, but from a PA. Who said I needed to make an appointment with Dr. Gupta. I said no way, that I would be looking for another doctor. This diagnosis was in a blood test, which was not followed up on by Dr. Gupta. I have had more then enough of this doctor that treats the whole person. I am really trying to not think this has anything to do with being a black woman, but I have heard from a few other black women who have had Dr. Gupta and they have also said that they have had similar experiences. Hopefully in my journey to find a new primary care doctor, I will have learned from this experience and not put up with this kind of treatment again. That the doctor I choose should be someone I'm comfortable with and not someone I tolerate and know that I have to depend on my specialized doctors to actually read test results.

Brilliant, Compassionate, kind, funny, professional physician…read more I am shocked to read the review by Janet B. because I think it is unfair and unjust to judge Dr. Nguyen when she has not met him as a patient. My family and I live in Menlo Park. We were referred to Dr. Loc Nguyen by a friend. Dr. Nguyen listened to our problems with compassion and kindness with direct eye contacts without writing something on a computer or paper as other doctors do while we were talking to him. He is also funny and make us laugh in certain situations. He is efficient for referring us to proper departments for many tests. My husband has diabetes and high blood pressure and depression. We have gone to many doctors but he felt worse over time. Dr. Nguyen found ways to adjust the medicines and suggested a diet that my husband feels much better and he is now taking fewer medicines. He is also motivated to take more long walks and he looks healthier and happier than six months ago. When we had questions about the medicines, Dr. Nguyen returned our calls on the same day. His staff at NorthBay clinic is very efficient and responsive when we make Or change our appointments. I have already referred many of my friends and relatives to see Dr. Loc Nguyen. I am so proud to have read his profile before I visited him and I am also proud that Stanford, Dartmouth, and Yale medical schools have created brilliant doctors. Thank you Dr. Loc and staff at NorthBay clinic for taking good care of my family. Sincerely, ChauLong N.

My family is new to Fairfield and we found Dr. Loc Nguyen as our primary doctor…read more I called in a week ago to schedule an appointment for my husband who is having chest pains. First, I asked if they can accommodate to take us in the soonest possible time since the pain might be related to some cardiovascular disease so I really wanted my husband to be seen by a specialist. Unfortunately, the schedule was full and the staff I spoke on the phone didn't show empathy to my concern. So we waited for the earliest available schedule which was after a week. My husband's chest pains has gotten worst. The appointment was today, 10/03/16, @ 8:40am. I called in on the day of the appointment around 7:45am to verify the appointment and address. The staff I spoke to didn't say anything about Dr. Loc Nguyen not showing up today. So my husband arrived at the doctor's clinic at 8:30am, made him wait, then told him that the doctor is not showing up because he called in sick! My husband has to miss at least half day of work so he can go to this appointment then the doctor just called in sick. Dr. Nguyen could have notified his staff earlier that he is not showing up today that way his staff could have advised my husband earlier as well. It just doesn't seem like they care at all. Very unprofessional especially for a health provider. To consider, that I pled the staff for an appointment because the chest pains that my husband's having might be posing a major concern. I had a background in the healthcare industry as well, and I believe that going beyond duty to save lives is of paramount importance. In this case, no one went beyond their duties, seemed not even care.
