As most schools in Arizona the 49th rated school of 50 states in (the worst) category... This school is no exception about control issues, first day of school , new year, person in charge Ms. Arnold who I said hello how are you , you look nice in red, replied "You can't park there" now this was a car line that blocks the three disabled parking spots, and low and behold I am disabled, all last year I didn't block them , today was the only day I got out to hand the heavy supply's they demand every year, although never utilized. I said I can't carry this to the class, At that point she said the "You can't park there" I said I can't use the disabled parking, and I am leaving. our transaction was done, but she decided instead of letting me leave to say in front of my 10 year old "YOU DON"T HAVE TO BE RUDE ABOUT IT" WHAT????????/ I left, I then parked in the disabled parking since no other parking was available this busy day. she came running over to me, What do you need??????? I said they want proof of address I was taking it to the office, She attempts to grab it from me. and says I will do that, I said that is my private business, I will take it thank you, and I know you are overwhelmed, but I think you owe me an apology She responded with " I am not overwhelmed and walked away" then I drove up to office using disabled parking, She ran toward me. What now? she asked rudly! I said the office wants me to give proof of residence, she begins to pull my bill out of my hand, I will do it, I said that is my private business, I will do it she then abruptly said " I WAS TRYING TO HELP! " if she was trying to help , she would have let me take the 15 seconds to say goodbye to my adorable 10 year old she just yelled at me in front of, and called me names. I didn't want to leave my child there, I was upset, I contacted Gilbert school board about the discrimination against disabled people, and the treatment of me. they said nothing, I called Gilbert police about the "Car line" not being accessible at the busiest time of day. The power trip she is on really came back to get her, she never should have done what she did, and most important my child is number 6 on a waiting list she started on at 96 We are patiently waiting. All schools have a power trip, but they think because a woman with a disability is troublesome to " Their school" they think they will take it. No way. last year the teacher didn't contact me and it as horrible. I told my sweet 10 year old on the at to school, it's a new year, lets me nice, listen, the teacher seems nice. and in 15 seconds this is what you get, stay far away from this school that teaches nothing, but disrespect for their parents. Two weeks ago, my child was involved in an altercation at this school in which he was hit in the face and left with a black eye. Despite this, he was the only child who received disciplinary action and was suspended. We attended the required meeting at the time of suspension and were told he could return after a behavioral meeting. At that follow-up meeting, Principal Ms. Archie showed no interest in having a meaningful conversation about what happened or how my child was affected. She did not acknowledge the handwritten letter my child prepared a letter in which he took accountability for his part, expressed his feelings about the situation, and explained what he would do differently in the future. When I expressed concern that my child's best interest did not appear to be a priority, Ms. Archie responded, "Well we can fix that, and I can start the withdrawal process." Rather than working toward resolution, her immediate solution was to suggest removing my child from the school. When asked how the decision was made to discipline only one child in a two-child incident that resulted in visible injury to my son, her response was condescending and unprofessional. When her tone was respectfully addressed, she doubled down instead of de-escalating. The impact on my child has been significant. He now feels anxious about returning to school, unheard in a situation where he was physically hurt, and deeply disappointed in the leadership meant to protect him. This experience has caused him to lose trust in the very people responsible for ensuring his safety and fairness. As a parent, I was hoping for a fair review of the situation, accountability on all sides, and a leadership team that prioritizes student well-being over defensiveness. Instead, I encountered dismissiveness and an eagerness to push us out rather than solve the problem. It became clear in that meeting that this school no longer aligns with our family's values of fairness, accountability, and respectful communication. I would strongly encourage other parents to ask detailed questions about how conflict situations are investigated and how disciplinary decisions are made before entrusting their child to this administration. read more

I've been part of the Gilbert Arts Academy family since 2014, when my oldest son attended. Even after he passed away, this school remained part of our lives. Nearly the entire staff and his classmates attended his funeral, and the principal at the time even spoke. That kind of love and support is something you never forget. Now my two younger sons attend GAA, and it continues to feel like home. Two weeks ago, my son was involved in an altercation with another student. He was unexpectedly picked up by a "friend," which caused him to trip and fall. Embarrassed, my son pushed him in defense, and the other student punched my son in the forehead, leaving a huge, noticeable knot. I had to miss work after being called about the incident, but I am truly grateful for Mrs. Archie and the supporting staff for how professionally and fairly they handled the situation. From my experience, the administration pays attention. They know the students, they know their families, and they do not tolerate bullying or ongoing behavioral issues. The situation was addressed appropriately, and I appreciate that the school takes these matters seriously. Gilbert Arts Academy is more than a school -- it is a family-oriented community that stands behind its students. They have supported my family through some of the hardest moments of our lives, and they continue to create a safe, structured environment for my children. My daughter's first year of school has been nothing short of exciting, as she comes home each day from Kindergarten with a smile on her face and always something new to teach *me*! Shoutout to Mrs. Johnson for that! GAA has been such an incredible school to us. The small class sizes and a campus full of faculty that all know my daughter by name is exactly the type of environment I had hoped for! The current principal, Ms. Archie, shows extraordinary fairness and kindness to each of her students and staff. It's such a pleasure to see her, and the rest of the faculty, interact with such warmth towards these kiddos! I also really appreciate that Gilbert Arts Academy hosts a lot of fun (and free!) events! Like trunk-or-treating and photos with Santa! There's always something fun to look forward to, including affordable after-school clubs each quarter! My daughter is currently loving sports club with Ms. Hay! Overall, it's been a really great school for our family and I think it'll be a great fit for yours, too! read more

I was in 4th grade when and I was already annyoned and stressed and it was my only first week. this girl asked me to be her friend but i didn't want to be mean and say no thanks it's because I already had enough friends. And then I gets dressed coded?! the next day the girl said hi to me and i didn't mean to ignore her because I didn't notice her and that girl at lunch starts crying and accused me saying that i dont want to be her friend. But these nice girls were comforting me saying that it wasn't ur fault u just didn't see her and that she just overreacting. So that why I switched my to my old school read more

This is a wonderful school! The campus is small, so it feels very cozy like you are among "family". The staff knows all of the students and family by name. The atmosphere feels very safe, supportive and nurturing. The small class size offers students a lot more one on one time with their teachers. It's quite evident that every teacher here cares so much about their students. Our school leader is so caring and goes above and beyond. read more

My two sons went to GAA from pre-K through 4th and 5th grades. GAA's teachers and administrators consistently worked to provide a well-rounded education and a safe and welcoming environment. The kids get music, art and PE each week along with their core classes. GAA is a great school with a small campus to allow for a cohesive community feel. read more
