Firstly, they missed the fact that the child has dyslexia; instead citing general learning disabilities and were contemplating holding her back a grade. Fortunately, we had her tested privately and then pushed the school district to make accommodations. She was discovered to be twice exceptional: gifted I.Q. with dyslexia. But, the real impetus for this review was her sixth grade teacher. Here are examples of some of the things that were said (many repeatedly) in the classroom: "Don't talk to me. My alligators are out." "I am so done with all of you. Figure it out yourselves." "You were so bad yesterday that I almost called in sick today." "It's silly to believe in God." "No American should be allowed to own a gun." The teacher unleashed her scorn upon the classes in general, while seemingly targeting certain students for the worst of her wrath (generally boys). I could write a novel based on instances with this "teacher". But, the bottom line is that my child went from being someone who loved school to dreading every single day with this person.

Now because of them I cannot get my son into another school in the district we live in. As a single mother this is beyond frustrating and hurtful, they would never help or listen. The staff is beyond lazy they cannot deal with difficult children in any manner. So what my 10 year old doesn't get a chance to prove himself?? I chose this school based off the rating and reviews and it was the WORST decision I have ever made for my son and because of last year he now struggles from it and NO ONE HELPS YOU EVER. They don't listen. They do NOT CARE. I have never dealt with other parents with their self entitlement bs than I have with this school and it's disgusting.

Mrs Frechette , and Mrs Raaf left supplies and treats at our door during quarantine. We just thought that was so thoughtful and kind. We love how the school encourages kindness and mindfulness. Its helps to remind kids that academics are important but so is being a good person. We're so grateful for the resources this school has. Our daughter started speech this year and has already made improvements. They even come home and talk about Mr Stanley (the custodian) and how kind he is. Great family environment!

I…read morespent my Jr High years at Athlos thinking I wouldn't like it because of the uniforms and well since it was a Charter school. I had gone to public school for all of my life before then and all of my friends were going to Santan and Bogle, but my mother wanted me to have the experience of going to a charter school. I was upset with her at first but later realized, it was the absolutely best thing shed ever done for me. Athlos isn't just a school you go to to learn. It's a school where everyone excepts you for who you are. The teachers treat you like friends and they actually CARE. In my past years in public schools I never experienced such an awesome bond with my teachers. After two weeks in Athlos I felt right at home and by the time I was in 8th grade I was dreading the last few months because I didn't want a new beginning in highschool. I believe that the amount of homework Athlos gave per student was fair. All they were trying to do was prepare us for high school.... Some kids say Athlos was a terrible school but when I would ask them why they thought that, they had no answers. Truth is, Athlos is AMAZING. You are respected by all teachers, kids and all staff. Education was great, they prepared me for high school and I truly appreciate that... Being a former student from Athlos was, as I said, an amazing journey. After two years with amazing kids, I was able to be apart of the 2013-2014 Athlos 8th grade family. To this day and on I know I can rely on them for everything. I am proud to call myself a Titan and always will be. I recommend this school to all who are looking for a new beginning and a memorable ending.:)

We love ALA - Gilbert K-6…read more We had took our son out of public school as he was struggling a lot and seemed behind. We were hesitant to put him into ALA as they are a little bit more advanced and within a few months he was excelling! The teachers that we have had have been amazing and truly care and help our kid in any way they possibly can. I really appreciate their hard work and help. The pick up line and drop off isnt bad after the first couple of weeks and everyone gets used to it. We are sad to be leaving and moving to a new school.
