We love all the teachers here at BFCS. Thanks for making our son love school again. Mr. Posner is the best teacher. We love him.

The school is tough and regimented which I love. Mr. Baker taught my daughter and she loved him.

My kids used to go to Benjamin Franklin charter schools and were two grades ahead of their peers when we moved them over to ALA. Now, our children can barely pass their grades. Additionally, their administration is piss poorly managed. This school does not give one flying crap about your child. They care about one thing and one thing only and that is making money. This is made obvious by the fact that this school allows children who have been kicked out of other schools for different reasons to come to this school and cause problems within the school, making it difficult for kids who want to have a good education to get one. They refuse to expel problem children which causes this school to no longer be an elite learning institution but instead has turned into thug babysitting. Recently, my child's life was threatened by another student. All they did was suspend the child for three days instead of expelling him from the school. Glenn Way should be embarrassed but he refuses to address the blaring issues.

Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. My daughter's teacher, Ms. Bradley, was consistently unkind and lacked compassion--not just toward my child, but toward the entire class. She does not have the patience or heart needed to teach young children. Attempting to address concerns was frustrating from the start. The assistants to the vice principal and even the principal themselves refused to speak with me by phone and would only communicate through email. I ultimately had to escalate two separate issues to the superintendent. One major issue involved a classmate who caused physical harm to three students. Parents were not informed about the situation at all. When I raised my concerns, the school cited "student privacy." I made it clear I was not asking for the student's name or personal information--I simply wanted to be informed and reassured that my child was safe. When chairs are being thrown during an episode, parents deserve to know what precautions are being taken to ensure student safety, both in the classroom and throughout the school. Other parents posted how their kids legs were being clawed at when the kid was hiding under the table during his episode. And not one email went out from the teacher nor the principal. The second issue involved the school's use of i-Ready testing as the sole basis for rewards. Regardless of a child maintaining good grades all year, if they do not show improvement on i-Ready testing, they are excluded from rewards. Ms. Bradley held an ice cream party for students who showed improvement from the beginning of the year. My daughter's math i-Ready score stayed the same, so she was excluded--despite earning strong grades all year. She came home crying, saying, "I'm so dumb" and "I'm not worthy" because she didn't get to participate. Only four students were excluded, including my daughter. I showed her her report card with A's and B's and reassured her that she worked incredibly hard and is absolutely not dumb. When I followed up about the i-Ready scores not being posted, I emailed the teacher after waiting a week. I was told the school does not go by grades because i-Ready scores help maintain the school's A rating and evaluate teacher performance. I took this to mean that because my daughter did not show improvement in every subject on i-Ready, she was denied a reward because she did not make the school look better nor the teacher look better. I want to be clear that this is not a reflection of all teachers at Eduprize. Unfortunately, we ended up with a 2nd grade teacher who showed no empathy toward her students. There is a parent group monitored by school administration where parents are not allowed to freely share concerns or experiences. Because of this, another parent created a separate group. In that group, several parents have shared similar experiences regarding Ms. Bradley. One parent posted how she denied the bathroom to her son and he asked 3 separate times, he then peed himself in front of the entire class and she decided to blame him "you didn't tell me it was an emergency". It is heartbreaking to read what these 8-year-old children went through. Many kids began to hate going to school, which shows the profound impact a teacher can have on young students. No child should feel unworthy or unsafe at school.

My daughter is a good student and has struggled from time to time in her math class. Her teacher,…read moreMrs. Kelly has been passive aggressive with her around her request for assistance to complete and learn basic assignments and when assignments or papers have been lost in the past )2 occasions), she has literally refused to provide her a new sheet of paper to complete the assignment.. On both occasions, I have reached out to this teacher and the principal Bryce Solberg. Both times I was met by indifference and excuses. Initially, the principal Bryce refused to even respond to my question and directed me to the teacher. Finally, I complained and said I would make a complaint to the administration and even unenroll my daughter from the school if they didn't provide her an opportunity to complete the assignment... that she asked for prior to its deadline. Bryce finally intervened saying I was threatening them and he discontinued the discussion I explained my only threat was to complain about him and his administration and their refusal to provide my daughter with necessary paperwork to complete her work Math class. I will unenroll my daughter from the school, and I have honestly never experienced this kind of hostility and immature, passive aggressive behavior from a teacher. If my daughter had done something wrong or had some sort of behavioral problem in the class, that would be one thing. But putting her off and refusing to provide an additional quiz or homework sheet because the teacher was indignant is not a reason to deprive my daughter of an education or to ruin her grades. All of this does not even address the fact that there is a hostile environment for my daughter...not from other children, but the staff themselves. Unfortunately, I could not recommend the school to anybody who was depending on a positive relationship with the administration or the teaching staff working with hand-in-hand with parents/students.

I had an IEP form that was not accurate or understandable when reviewed by my new school. The Leading Edge staff made changes to the information without my parent or guardians permission and knowledge. I had been threatened by the vice principal that she would be calling the cops due to throwing an empty plastic water bottle at a student who was physically assaulting another kid. The school staff, withheld my transcripts when they learned I was going to another school. My parents contacted LEA MULTIPLE TIMES, even going into the school to get them before we received the transcripts. Leading Edge staff protect bullies due to their parents being on staff. These students cause problems constantly but are never addressed, creating a sense of disruption, anxiety, and fear among the students. I and other students have had things stolen from our bags multiple times, and when the staff was told that the police would be involved the item would mysteriously return the next day in our bag. For Spirit week, the principal and vice principal dressed up in onesies and pacifiers, riding tricycles and talking to students like babies. They also had scoops of ice cream in their hands which they had students, of several grades, lick off. The students were then encouraged to do the same to each other in front of the school. Some teachers and staff treated the students really well, but the majority of the staff bullied and neglected the students.

The ONLY reason I am not giving 5 stars is because,…read moreto me, that would mean they have it all figured out and I believe that they still are SO new and have room to improve. I have 3 kids that have attended Champion San Tan since it opened 2 years ago! I love being part of something so new and fresh and, just like any other business or organization, there WILL be growing pains. They have learned a lot and have made the necessary changes to improve. I have a 5th grader, a 2nd grader, and a kindergartner. Ms. Rasmussen, Ms. Campos, and Ms. Banks are their teachers and I wouldn't have it any other way! Ms. Banks took over Kinder in my sons class a few months into the school year because the school recognized the need for a change, and they made it, and she made my kindergartner enjoy school and have a positive experience. I can't say enough about Ms. Campos, the 2nd grade teacher that we were so lucky to have. She is patient and kind and doesn't mess around. She challenges my son and takes the time that each child needs to help them succeed. Ms. Rasmussen is one the 5th grade teachers and she is amazing too! From the get go she made herself available to the parents and I love having the open communication that she provides. Every day she sends parents information about the homework so we don't feel lost if we need to help our students. Mr Boen, 4th grade teacher, came to Champion and made a huge garden that he used as a teaching tool for the kids. They condition the soil, plant the seeds, care for it while it is growing, and then they have a veggie stand after school and at the games. They see the fruits of their labor. There isn't enough space here to express the love I have for all the staff. All three of my kids are bus riders. The bus system went from hectic to more controlled this year. Sure, they have gone through several bus/van drivers but Christine, the transportation coordinator (she probably has many titles, not just driver/coordinator) has implemented so many positive changes and has made the process of transportation so much easier. The bus broke down a few weeks ago and I was informed right away and when I got to bus to pick up my kids, Christine already was there, with another driver and the two school vans, to pick up the kids and drop them home. I was informed right away when my son was hit on the bus, and they took care of the discipline of the other child and I was able to sit down with the principle and Christine to set up a plan. There are going to be issues at ANY school and I appreciate that Champion has taken the steps to hopefully correct the things that haven't gone their way. Sure, the "shooting" incident was not a positive experience but they put the clear backpacks in place and held a parent meeting to share all the information about it. I know that if I have issues I can speak to the principle and administration at any time, because they care about my kids and they want each one of their students to succeed.

Teachers are not certified and are still "working on getting their certification" yet this uncertified teacher has 35 kids in their class room. Homework assignments are sent at the last minute of the day and expected the next morning, sports are mandatory (not for free) not to mentioned the uncoordonation of the teachers and staff. My daughter(3rd grade) has been sent home at the wrong times and they advised it wouldn't happen again yet it did, TWICE after the first incident. Needless to say I will not be enrolling her to this school next year. Hopefully Legacy Traditional schools will be a better place for my children.
