I sincerely hope my kids settle in, We were told EDUPRIZE is a good school, but the way my kids talked after school left me feeling unsure if we made the correct choice. They said 28 kids are sat at a 20 kid table during lunch, which is concerning for many reasons. Spreading of germs/sickness, lice, personal bubbles. One of my kids said they couldn't find a place to sit and had to squeeze into a place they weren't comfortable. They also said older grades are not allowed on the playground and that their recess time is spent walking around doing nothing if they aren't lucky enough to get one of three balls and be invited to play. All K-6 kids need recess, play, and opportunities for positive social interactions and friendship-building. This is so important to one of my children that they want to switch schools after the first day. I told them to give it some time, that things always get better, but a parent always worries about their child.

My daughter attended Eduprize for 2nd grade, and I was initially very excited because the children…read moreof one of my close friends go here. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. My daughter's teacher, Ms. Bradley, was consistently unkind and lacked compassion--not just toward my child, but toward the entire class. She does not have the patience or heart needed to teach young children. Attempting to address concerns was frustrating from the start. The assistants to the vice principal and even the principal themselves refused to speak with me by phone and would only communicate through email. I ultimately had to escalate two separate issues to the superintendent. One major issue involved a classmate who caused physical harm to three students. Parents were not informed about the situation at all. When I raised my concerns, the school cited "student privacy." I made it clear I was not asking for the student's name or personal information--I simply wanted to be informed and reassured that my child was safe. When chairs are being thrown during an episode, parents deserve to know what precautions are being taken to ensure student safety, both in the classroom and throughout the school. Other parents posted how their kids legs were being clawed at when the kid was hiding under the table during his episode. And not one email went out from the teacher nor the principal. The second issue involved the school's use of i-Ready testing as the sole basis for rewards. Regardless of a child maintaining good grades all year, if they do not show improvement on i-Ready testing, they are excluded from rewards. Ms. Bradley held an ice cream party for students who showed improvement from the beginning of the year. My daughter's math i-Ready score stayed the same, so she was excluded--despite earning strong grades all year. She came home crying, saying, "I'm so dumb" and "I'm not worthy" because she didn't get to participate. Only four students were excluded, including my daughter. I showed her her report card with A's and B's and reassured her that she worked incredibly hard and is absolutely not dumb. When I followed up about the i-Ready scores not being posted, I emailed the teacher after waiting a week. I was told the school does not go by grades because i-Ready scores help maintain the school's A rating and evaluate teacher performance. I took this to mean that because my daughter did not show improvement in every subject on i-Ready, she was denied a reward because she did not make the school look better nor the teacher look better. I want to be clear that this is not a reflection of all teachers at Eduprize. Unfortunately, we ended up with a 2nd grade teacher who showed no empathy toward her students. There is a parent group monitored by school administration where parents are not allowed to freely share concerns or experiences. Because of this, another parent created a separate group. In that group, several parents have shared similar experiences regarding Ms. Bradley. One parent posted how she denied the bathroom to her son and he asked 3 separate times, he then peed himself in front of the entire class and she decided to blame him "you didn't tell me it was an emergency". It is heartbreaking to read what these 8-year-old children went through. Many kids began to hate going to school, which shows the profound impact a teacher can have on young students. No child should feel unworthy or unsafe at school.

My kids used to go to Benjamin Franklin charter schools and were two grades ahead of their peers when we moved them over to ALA. Now, our children can barely pass their grades. Additionally, their administration is piss poorly managed. This school does not give one flying crap about your child. They care about one thing and one thing only and that is making money. This is made obvious by the fact that this school allows children who have been kicked out of other schools for different reasons to come to this school and cause problems within the school, making it difficult for kids who want to have a good education to get one. They refuse to expel problem children which causes this school to no longer be an elite learning institution but instead has turned into thug babysitting. Recently, my child's life was threatened by another student. All they did was suspend the child for three days instead of expelling him from the school. Glenn Way should be embarrassed but he refuses to address the blaring issues.

Mr. Ellis has been going out of his way to teach the students about the Quran and being Muslim and how it is the correct way and that evolution isn't real and is racist. He takes time out of the class when the kids should be learning so that he can impose his religion onto your children. They have an inability to keep any type of quality teacher. For the first 3/4 of the year, my son had a teacher from the Philippines that could not speak English long enough to hold a conversation more than three words sentences. This is who they have teaching your children. Not only that the administration will sit here and tell you how they don't have transgender students. All you have to do is sit at the sidewalk and watch there is plenty of them. But when one puts their hands on your student and your student retaliates, your student gets in trouble so they can protect the faculties family member. Believe the negative reviews they are all real. Any other school is better than this I mean, look what happened to Preston, Lord

Teachers are not certified and are still "working on getting their certification" yet this uncertified teacher has 35 kids in their class room. Homework assignments are sent at the last minute of the day and expected the next morning, sports are mandatory (not for free) not to mentioned the uncoordonation of the teachers and staff. My daughter(3rd grade) has been sent home at the wrong times and they advised it wouldn't happen again yet it did, TWICE after the first incident. Needless to say I will not be enrolling her to this school next year. Hopefully Legacy Traditional schools will be a better place for my children.

I got taught it and still did NOT understand, worst of all once I moved out of that school and went to a new school I got taught division and recognized the similar qualities, but the difference is my new teacher at my new school taught it COMPLETELY different and I understood it within 2 days. What I remember something I would rate good is sports. I got accepted to play for champions girls basketball team in 4th grade which you can only do grades 5 - 8th to play. Do I recommend trying it no. Even though I made the team as a 4th grader I didn't get a single ounce of playing time which constantly I lost my confidence each day. Practice I definitely don't recommend I didn't learn a single thing it was all the same normal basketball drills that didn't help me. But overall I wouldn't go back but sometimes I do wish I could see my friends that I wasn't able to say bye to.

It is very family oriented and you'll see families come together supporting the kids and teachers at any given event. Our kindergartner is autistic and she has fit in well and is flourishing there. The school provides a lot of resources and activities for the students. They have band, orchestra, student council, mathletes, a gifted and talented program, cool clubs for the kids like kickball club and card trading club and much more. Our kindergartener registered for soccer this past fall and basketball camp during Spring Break and has just had a blast. I love how I never feel awkward at events because there aren't any "clicks" amongst the parents and kids there. There is not a religious belief pushed on to the kids here either. The principal is always out walking around and engaging with students and parents every day and has made time to discuss anything necessary when we have needed help. If you are looking for a school that will encourage your children to be the best version of themselves and to learn to make good choices...this is it. We ultimately as parents just want our kids to be kind, caring human beings in this world and this is the school that will promote that.
