On a quick stop at Sebring, FL for a beautiful sunset view, we stopped at Gigio's for what is always a unanimous yes on "anyone want pizza?". It was a small pizza shop off the main circle of Downtown Sebring. At first glance it was very clean and almost looked like they just opened. It's a small shop and our party of 7 took up half the tables inside. They also had some outdoor seating. Their menu seemed a bit large for a pizza place which brought me a little bit of trepidation as I believe in simple is better always. But nonetheless we ordered and kept it simple, a couple of cheese pizzas, some wings and some garlic rolls. They had a cooler for soft drinks to help yourself but as a DC (Diet Coke) fan myself I was disappointed they didn't have any zero sugar options. As we waited for the Pies which was approximately 25 minutes, my kid needed to use the bathroom and it was not as kept up as the rest of the place. No tissue paper and overall it looked like it needed a cleaning. The pizza arrived and everyone seemed to enjoy it. To me the sauce was not great as it tasted more like spaghetti sauce than pizza sauce. The pizza crust was crispy but like cracker crispy. The garlic rolls were also ok nothing spectacular and I didn't taste the wings but got no complaints from folks. Was it amazing, No. Did everyone eat and enjoy, Yes. Would I come back to Gigio's when in Sebring again, probably not. There was nothing memorable about the place unfortunately. But I wish them all the best.

I've only had their cheese pizza, but it was the best of all the places I've tried in town.

The decor is classic 50s roadside diner with old license plates on the wall, an old pickup truck outside and a TV on ESPN by my table. The menu is classic Americana / diner fare with a southern touch. I'd been on an empty stomach through my 3 hour drive and meetings, so by the time I sat down to eat, I almost would have even eaten the paper the menu was written on :) Since it was a little bit on the chilly side, I started with their hearty cup of baked potato soup, deliciously loaded with cheese & bacon bits in a stew. Their warm, buttery and fluffy rolls topped with cinnamon butter were worth every single gram of carbs and almost functioned as a dessert themselves. Then came my yummy main dish, a roasted half chicken with just the right amount of skin and garnished with a smoky barbecue sauce. It was a sizable bird, taking up a nice bit of plate real estate, though leaving just enough room for a warm and topped with butter sweet potato. Needless to say, I still had room for dessert, and enjoyed their Keylime pie. Mal, my waitress, was very pleasant and I didn't have to wait for soda refills. Plating was also on time. I noticed they also had a Valentine's Day local special. It seems like this is a happening place in Sebring and I'd stop by next time I'm in the area.

It would be even better if there was a full liquor license. The icing on the cake is two-for-one on all alcohol drinks including Long Island Iced Teas! No, it's not a dream. Read on- Arriving- These folks are in a large plaza on the northbound side of US Route 27. Signage is not great, but your GPS will work its magic. Even though it's a plaza, parking is irregular, and you may need to walk a bit. Ambience- Nothing special and a little darker than you might expect. Standard Americanized Chinese/Japanese décor, lots of booths and the expected hibachi tables. Speaking of booths, my dining partner noted duct tape on her booth seat and frowned. Free Wi-Fi with no password. It's slow but usable. Customer Service- In my experience, always exceptional! The young lady serving us this visit was pleasant and extremely knowledgeable of the menu. She checked in throughout our lunch and when we were leaving, we were discussing how awesome she was! Adult Libations- Full bar here and these folks are famous for two-for-one drinks all the time! Don't expect fancy glassware or all kinds of embellishments to your drink but at two-for-one pricing, do you care? Food- These folks are the poster child for "typical." The Chinese, Japanese, and Hibachi menus are exactly what you have seen in a thousand other places. My dining partner and I both went with the standard Chinese combo lunch plates. Me Bourbon Chicken and General Tsao for her. Both came with Pork Fried Rice and an Eggroll. We could have substituted soup for the eggroll. They went for about $11 each. To drink I opted for two-for-one Sangria @ $8 and my partner ordered a Bobba drink @ $5. The food and drink were solid across the board. Nothing fancy but solid, filling, tasty food at a decent price point. We both agreed that the eggroll was nice and crisp, and the filling was delicious! So, you get the option of three styles of food and cheap drinks. The food is going to be at least three and maybe four stars with excellent service. I'm going with four stars!
