I spoke to the staff pharmacist Brenda Ballantine and she was condescending, unhelpful, and yelled details of my prescription and costs from the back of the pharmacy over 10 feet away. There was another customer and a pharmacist nearby who could hear the whole conversation. This is in violation of HIPAA privacy laws which she must have been aware of. I ended up paying full price for my prescription because it was easier and faster than dealing with her and I didn't want to have this conversation with so many people listening. After I got home I spoke to a friend about the experience and they said that she had done the same thing to them. I can only hope the pharmacy manager reads this and speaks to her about following proper pharmacy procedures and keeping patient information private.

Today I stopped in to Giant Pharmacy for a flu shot. They were not at all nice about it, and that surprised me, because I've gotten prescriptions filled there in the past and they are usually competent and courteous. I ended up waiting about 40 minutes for the shot and I felt that it was very much a problem for them. So, if you want to get your flu shot at Giant, be sure to go early in the day and hope for the best. They obviously do not have the staff to provide this service, even though they advertise it aggressively. Next year I will get my shot elsewhere or not at all.

I have never felt any kind of pressure or discomfort here as a customer. The service here is top notch: the staff knows everyone by first name, they're incredibly courteous and conscientious, and if they can't fill a prescription for you they will work diligently to find a pharmacy close by who can. They also understand that insurance can be tricky and the cost of maintaining health in America presents its own challenges, so while they can't dictate the cost of medications, they try to make it as easy and as painfree as humanly possible to get what you need. They also have a solid selection of other things you might need in a pinch and are super knowledgeable about the pros and cons between different brands / products. Not to mention they also have little things like a section dedicated to the community featuring books from local authors. I respect that a lot. When people talk about the benefits of choosing smaller local businesses over bigger companies, I immediately think of places like this little pharmacy. Dr. Ram greeted me as if I were a long-time customer and asked me to have my pharmacist call him. At 12 noon EST, I called my pharmacist who is PST: I explained I inadvertently left a prescription at home. She then called Dr. Ram and I drove the couple of blocks to pick up my prescription. It was a pleasure doing business with Dr. Ram! I took a few of his business cards and gave them to my sister and her neighbors; as he had several existing clients on her street.
