Today they had an employee with a grill by a front door selling Grilled hot dogs, ribs . I asked the grill employee before I ordered two hot dogs if he grills them and he said he did.. I noticed no food cooking on the grill. I got them home and they are obviously boiled. They must boiled them in their kitchen and sell them by their fake grill setup.. Customer Service is horrible! Shopped there on 9.29. Went in a staffed check out. The way was blocked with another cart positioned in reverse with another Giant Eagle employee talking to the check out person. I asked if the lane was open. The employee with the cart said, "Yes, I am just talking to my friend Tony." She subsequently moved and I began my check out. As I was watching the items being rung up, I noticed a charge for Fuji apples. I question it, and Tony replied, "I have to ring it up like that (he was referring to bell peppers) or it rings up 50 cents higher." I thought this was strange, but I let it go. As soon as I walked away, I realized Tony had not asked for my Advantage Card. I went to customer service. There was Dawn. I told her that I hadn't been asked for my Advantage Card and I wanted to make sure my purchases had been credited. She took my receipt and proceeded to tell me that I got the discounts. I countered that I may have gotten the discounts, but how could I when I hadn't provided my Advantage Card. She walked away without explanation and remained at the other end of the counter for several minutes. Finally she returned and said she would get a manager. This entire conversation was done without her greeting me, smiling at me, or apologizing for the confusion. I was made to feel like I was somehow in the wrong. The manager approached and told me that I got the credits but not the perks. Again I wondered aloud how I could get the discounts when they didn't know who I was without the card. She explained that Tony must have used a courtesy card. Who knew there were courtesy cards? Again, she offered no greeting; she didn't even tell me her name or tell me she was the manager. I asked her what her name was -- Chelsea. Chelsea explained she would give me the perks, but offered no apology for the error or the confusion. I explained to her about the Fuji apple charge, and neither she nor Dawn said a word. Clearly there is a glitch in the system, and they didn't even acknowledge that they heard what I was saying. I appreciated the perks, but I couldn't and still cant understand why there was no apology or a smile upon greeting me or anything that that would have made me--the customer--feel like I was valued, that I mattered, that the $350 I just spent meant something. When I expressed that, Chelsea said, "Sorry." Giant Eagle, do better in the training of your employees. "Sorry" doesn't cut it. What does cut it is a friendly greeting by all employees to the customers, a sincere desire to hear what the concern is, and a heartfelt apology for whatever happened, EVEN if it wasn't the store's fault. If a customer takes time to go to the customer service desk, then something has happened that the customer feels needs attention. A curt dismissal with an insincere "sorry" will get you a bad review and a lost customer. read more

I've been to a lot of Giant Eagle locations over the years, and really think this one operates at a higher level than most. They typically are low in out of stocks, and while they are busy, it's rarely crazy in here. There's nothing overly special, but the team members have always been friendly and I've yet to have a bad experience of note. read more

Updating as my first review about two years ago specifically pertained to the dry cleaners. I don't know why anyone shops here- the prices are so high they could be renamed Gucci Eagle, the lines to check out are longer than I wait at Fresh Thyme or Walmart, and the parking lot on the weekend is a catastrophe. Two stars because selection/variety is a reasonable value proposition, and I take full advantage of their gift cards for gas money program, but otherwise be prepared for a pricey, unpleasant experience. read more

This Giant Eagle is not where I regularly shop, but I drove here for a change of scenery. The parking lot is in a shopping center, and I had no trouble finding a good parking spot on a Saturday afternoon. Throughout the store, the departments are typical: plants, fruits, vegetables, meats, fishes, boxed and canned goods, frozen goods, bakery, dairy, beverages, beauty, household, etcetera. I did not notice any items on the shelves being out of stock. I had intended to purchase only eggs and olive oil, but I felt so interested in the selection of products as I browsed the aisles, that I ended up buying $104 worth of groceries! I picked out some non-usual items such as honeycomb honey, starfruit, and dragonfruit. Upon checkout, I did not have to wait in line at all. The cashier did not say hello or goodbye, but he did carefully bag all of my groceries. read more

Not surprised this store has such a low rating. I had a horrible experience at this location today. Associate Pam told me that a sign was not in front of the product when the price was incorrect at the register. The sign was clearly in front of the gallon size, not the 1/2 gallon. She was very rude telling me it was clearly in front of the correct item. Managers need to understand how their employee's attitude impact how people will spend their money. This is the worst Giant Eagle I have ever stepped foot in. It is privately owned (so they seem to believe the rules do not apply) and very poorly run. Looking at you, Bob. No sweat off your back I'm sure because you're probably making a killing while the people shopping in this store suffer the God-awful parking lot, dirty environment, and poor customer service. The food itself? Might be okay, if they even carry it or have it in stock like JFC. I have shopped in this store numerous times and almost every time I've had a poor experience in some way, shape or form. Most of the time, grocery stores generally try to foster goodwill amongst the community - NOT this one. Here's a rundown of a few ugly characters I've come across in this store - an ill-mannered, PWT female working the meat/seafood counter (at the time she was a new-hire) and laughed at me when I asked a question. No, she never answered my question but the colleague next to her did and other customers noticed this employees ugly behavior. A disrespectful, unhelpful, wannabe washed up Joy Behar witchy character working the (get this!) "customer service" desk who was too lazy to actually do her job and tried to bully me out of getting a refund for something I actually purchased at Giant Eagle - which she claimed I didn't which is funny because about 10 min later, her co-worker was able to find the the purchase where I bought that item. Jesus fucking Christ - it shouldn't be this difficult to return an item. Like really? I have spent thousands of dollars in this store and you wanna fight me over $10, asshole? Then another employee from a whole other department came over to ask me if there was anything he could do to "help" - how about do your job and go work in your department(the bakery?!) definitely not customer service. I said you work in the bakery, how are you going to help me? He said "I don't know." Basically, just another bored employee trying to amuse himself by starting shit and getting in people's business where it's of no concern to him. Where is the management overseeing this freak show?! All of this while I balance a newborn baby in my arms. The lack of empathy and care to create a decent hospitable shopping environment for the community astounds me at this Cranberry location. I'll take my money to another location or a whole other grocery store over that experience alone. read more

This is my local Giant Eagle and I've been going here for years. They have made improvements over the years, and I do vote them best supermarket fresh sushi. The beer department is handy too. They are usually well stocked with fresh produce. Some items I used to get here from their international food section are no longer carried so that was disappointing. They also had started selling higher end cosmetics at one point, but had them all in locked cases and no staff to help so that was a bad idea & I think they revamped that section. They've moved aisles quite a bit in recent years which can be annoying when you know where things are & now can't find anything. Prices are obviously higher than Walmart & a few on par with Whole Foods. You'll find most of what you need here, but this location isn't as fancy as the Market District location down the road in Wexford. Also since COVID, check out can be a nightmare because after they put their precautions in place with plastic barriers & lines on floor for social distancing they rarely have more than 3 cashiers on and bless them but some are slower than molasses. And with the distancing in place you can't navigate the front of the store getting into a new aisle while shopping because it's clogged with people & carts stretching 3-6 deep back into the food aisles. Also for some odd reason, the card readers were moved from the end of the check out lane to the beginning. So now if you're bagging your own stuff or helping load your cart there's already someone behind yuh blocking the credit card reader & you have to ask them to back up or move so that's a pain. Parking is typically easy, but pharmacy door is locked now & you need to enter via main entrance so you may had to walk a bit. They did have someone sanitizing cart handles, not sure if they still do, but they usually have wipes available at the entrance. Due to the logistics & wait time, I have not been frequenting Giant Eagle as much during the pandemic. read more

I only occasionally shop here, but I've gotten multiple cakes from the bakery. All the cakes have been absolutely wonderful. They are always moist and decorated beautifully. I also feel like the cakes are affordable for what you get. read more

My mother and I went here and had trouble with the self checkout machine. The cashier across from us stared holes in us the entire time. She actually put one elbow on her counter and her head on her other hand and planted herself there. I stared back; she didn't blink once. This past Friday night, I went to put a package in the USPS box by this Giant Eagle. I was walking to my car and an employee followed me and then stared at me through my car window. I put my window down a bit and said "Are you trying to talk to me?" He just said "Closed!" Another employee was standing in the street with him staring at me and two other employees on the sidewalk were staring at me too. What the heck!! The creepiest employees work here! Against my better judgement, but being in a hurry, I went to the GE Pharmacy Cranberry Twp for a Covid shot today 7/23/2021. Wasn't excited to get the shot to begin with. That was taken to a whole nother LOW level when I was ushered to the disgusting, unsanitary, broom closet that was apparently their 'shot room'. The pictures do better than I could. The floor, the table, the random open cotton ball container, the random store paraphernalia piled in the background. Not what anybody would describe as a sanitary medical environment. read more

This giant eagle is very large and always well kept. I really like the setup. The location of the veggies , beer and meats. I typically come here for the item of the week which is free and I love that. I also come for the fuel perks. Walmart is typically cheaper but the veggies are always fresher here. They are more expensive it worth it when they last longer. I also get my beer from here as well and not you can get wine! I enjoy the free wifi and they also have food as well. I am not used to the food because I'm from wv and they do have that there. Wednesday is the day to come because the sushi is made and is 5 dollars. You can get sushi any day but it's always when it's on sale. I always feel like when I need help finding something , someone is always available to help unlike Walmart. I've been using this service fir a few months since grocery stores are one of the hazardous places to be now. The quality of curbside pickup at this location has continued to decline. They used to have a personal shopper that would call you ahead of your order to see if last minute items needed to be added. This time they didn't call and when I called about 10 min before my pick up time they gave me attitude. I finally got someone to say they were putting my give items in but after I picked up the groceries and went home they were not there. I will only use it out of necessity and will probably choose another location from now on. read more

Giant Eagle almost had my mom in tears tonight. We rarely shop at Giant Eagle and were not familiar with the self checkout, so we had some holdups with our coupons and were a bit slow. The cashier at the fast checkout across from us stared at us the entire time WITHOUT BLINKING. It made me incredibly nervous and made it even harder to focus on checking out. She leaned her head on her fist and faced herself towards us, even as I made comments about it and stared back. It was the strangest and most humiliating shopping experience I've ever had. The woman who came to help us unfreeze the machines as we needed was somewhat rude as well and wouldn't come back unless my mom waved at her. She suggested it would be easier to use coupons at a regular checkout, but I told her I was not interested as the cashier had been staring at me the entire time. The self checkout machines are the most complicated I've seen at any store, but that wouldn't be so much of a bother if the staff hadn't made us want to crawl under the nearest rock. Amidst the nightmare quantities of national chain fast food in Cranberry (a truck stop that has evolved into a retail feeding ground) I found some good, fresh buffet food in the Cranberry Giant Eagle of all places. Granted, it's not cuisine (feel free to wait in line and pay more elsewhere), but it's fresh and tasty and fast and priced well for what it is (good, clean VARIETY). With even limited imagination and $7 in your pocket, you can put together a full pound of exactlywhatchawanted, pay and GO. This is a FAR CRY from something-in-a-bun at the hundreds of drive thrus just outside - and you can get something hot, tasty and relatively healthy - again, for the same $7 you're going to pay at Wendy McBurgerKing Fil-A. For the above reasons of unpretentiousness (and the fact that I actually said "Om nom nom" as I ate my most recent meal there), I bestow the Cranberry "Big Bird" 4/5 stars. read more

Meh is right. Could be worse, but Giant Eagle is one of the worst large grocery chains around, and this location is pretty typical or worse than most. Selection isn't bad, but "ethnic" items are priced about twice what they should be. (Some of the Mexican brands are normally cheaper than American brands at Mexican grocery stores, but Geagle prices them like they're gourmet, organic items.) I'm glad they stock the stuff, but I feel like a total sucker when I buy any of it. (A lot of the Italian items are available in the Strip for far less.) Stockouts, too. Seriously? It's not 1980 anymore. They have cash register data and loyalty cards: tons of sales data. There's no way that they should still be out of items on a regular basis. For the two years I've been working in Cranberry, this store's been completely out of club soda at least five times. I might forgive them once or twice if they're out on Sunday, but this was during the week! Multiple times! I've never seen this happen at any other large retail chain of any type. It's happened with other items, too. Their selection of private label (store-brand) items is pretty sparse, too. Other chains I've frequented in the past have at least twice as many items available as private label items. Saves me money, and, from what I knew from my consulting days, it was also more profitable for the store. Unique to this location: they've been reconfiguring their store. FOR FOUR WEEKS!!! Junky-looking empty shelves, ripped-up linoleum, and it's impossible to find anything. I've been to plenty of places that reconfigure their stores; they usually shut down for 2-3 days or do it in stages overnight over 3-4 days. Customers shouldn't even know you're doing it. Go to the store one day to shop - no indication that anything's coming. Return a week later - brand new store! Seriously. Giant Eagle is run like grocery stores were in 1985. If they didn't have pseudo-monopoly in Pittsburgh, I'd gladly go somewhere else. read more

I want to preface this review by saying that Giant Eagle is one of my least favorite grocery stores to begin with, and I really wish more options existed in the Pittsburgh area for grocery shopping. That being said, this Giant Eagle in Cranberry is particularly bad. I used to work right across the street, so sheer convenience of location brought me to this store for my grocery shopping until I began to make a point to avoid it. The parking lot is so incredibly cramped that it is impossible to drive around and seek out a parking spot without taking your own life into your hands. I seriously have almost gotten into an accident about a dozen times here. The aisle-ways are quite narrow and people whip around the corners very quickly. It's always packed (with the sole exception of times when Steelers games are on TV, naturally). I find myself parking as far away as possible in an attempt to avoid the stress of the whole situation. There is a small Starbucks at the entrance of this location, which redeems it just a little bit. Food is expensive and of course you need to have that holy "advantage" card in order to get any of the deals. Not very advantageous, in my opinion. I find that most of the organic food and healthier options are wildly overpriced. In addition, there seems to be a major lack of employees at this Giant Eagle. In the few times I've been there that I've struggled to find something specific that I'm looking for, it has been impossible to find a close-by employee anywhere to help me. I usually end up resorting to asking one of the people at the deli counter. Do yourself a favor and avoid this Giant Eagle. If you live in the area and (like me) basically have no choice but to get sucked into this whole "Giant Eagle monopoly" of Pittsburgh, I recommend traveling a few miles south and trying out the Market District in Wexford; it's much nicer. read more

I strongly urge you NOT to buy any of their prepared foods. The almond crusted flounder was old and fishy. The Chicken Romano was made with compressed chicken that was so tough it could not be chewed. The same was true with the chicken parmigiana. Beyond disgusting and at premium prices. If you get one of their pot pies, that is fresh, it is fairly good. I made the mistake today of buying one of their take and bake pizzas. When will I learn! Absolutely horrible. The sausage was nothing but fat and the pepperoni was gray in color. Now this review is for the one in Cranberry Township. I cannot say about other Giant Eagle stores. Bottom line...I will not be eating chicken, fish, or pizza again for a very long time. The rest of the store is fine, but I was physically sick after the chicken. No complaints about the bakery. I was just there this afternoon and had an awful experience near where you purchase beer. The middle-aged idiot working the area seemed more interested in standing in place and thinking about his poor life decisions rather than helping me with samples and making a purchase. I am sorry buddy, but life is tough. You could always get a side job as an "angry clown" or something similar. Beyond this horrible encounter, products are overpriced, and they always have an anemic selection of meats. In my opinion, you are better off shopping at WalMart for groceries, visiting a local butcher for meat, and of course going to a distributor for beer. One star for you Giant Eagle!!! read more

The curbside is terrible. We have used it dozens of times and are fed up with it. On multiple occasions, we have been charged for items that we do not get. We have gotten milk that expires the next day. We get fruit that has mold on it. We are told certain items are substituted for other items and what we get doesn't even match what they say they substituted with. During these crazy times, out-of-stock items can be expected, but they don't even tell us some of the items were out-of-stock. A few times when they do tell us an item is out-of-stock, I've walked into the store, found the item, and just bought it inside. Occasional mistakes can be expected, but the ineptitude has become routine. When we email them to say we are missing items and they are giving us rotten food, we are told, "We're sorry you are unhappy with your substitutions." This place needs new management. read more

Composite review over a decade. One of the older stores in the region. Layout remains challenging. Too much everywhere. One has to create a map to figure out where everything is. Competitive, apparently but to get a few basic items, I tend to shop at Shop n' Save -- smaller and more focused. This GE is at least an hour event if one is fast, specially at the checkout lines that require so much "self checkout." I have found that Walmart, even though they do / emphasize self check out, has moved toward having more real people at the registers. Food by and large is just commercial, industrialized food -- stores that create a human connection with repeat customers will survive or do well. And here comes the holidays with all the isles doubly packed with sales and shoppers. Wider isles doesn't mean less purchasing activity necessarily. f8 and be there. read more

Poor customer service at the pharmacy! I went to drop off my prescription at the pharmacy and the tech was extremely judge mental and rude. Also they had to call my doctor for verification (totally understand). I spoke with my doctors office and they never called. Talk about LAZY! My husband then went into to grab my medication for me and the same clerk was rude and shoved him out the door without answering any of our questions. read more

I got a cake for my birthday here while visiting the city here. The lady in the bakery was sooo nice and friendly!! She gave me 2 cakes and decorated it sooo pretty. I told her to just do something pretty on the cakes , and she kept my involved with the decisions even though I told her to make it up. Then she offered me a cookie! She was great at her job and very knowledgeable. I felt bad for her because she was the only one back there and she had a line with about 10 people and she still took her time on each of us without "taking her time". Went into pick up small amount of items for a sick baby. The staff during check out was slow, but polite the staff at the customer service counter was not. I let them know the woman's restroom needed attention the reaction I received was "I Am sure it does". Well it was filthy and feces on the floor with toilet tissue everywhere. I am disappointed I went on Friday the 13th during the COVID 19 rush... but still take care of your bathrooms so the next family that attempts to use it does not have to dip their loved ones in bleach. read more

Really?), and when you really look at it, their selection ain't so great, either. The last straw was the other day when I made my semi-annual trip there, I bought a coconut cream pie. When I took a bite of it when I got home, MY GOD, IT WAS THE WORST BITE OF PIE I'D EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!!!! ABSOLUTELY HORRID. LIKE THEY'D FORGOT TO ADD COCONUT, SUGAR, VANILLA, AND WHATEVER ELSE WOULD ADD FLAVOR IT IT!!!! My wife took it back the next day and she said they acted like we were crazy for bringing something back to them. Then, on top of that, they put our $7.99 refund on a GIANT EAGLE gift card!! I just visited the rt. 19 Cranberry Twp. PA Giant Eagle. I felt compelled to give an employee of yours the recognition that he fully deserves! My boyfriend and I often have bad experiences while at the deli department of many grocery stores because of the negativity that comes from the workers that seem so unhappy to be there and interact with customers. That attitude often leaves us with a negative taste in our mouth with the whole store in general, because when you visit a grocery store.. A customer usually only comes in contact with deli workers or cashiers during their time in the store. These people are the face of your store and they can represent it in a positive or negative light. With that being said, tonight I met a wonderful man, Nick, who was working in the deli department at your store. He had my boyfriend and I laughing with his positivity and light hearted jokes. He was so helpful and knowledgable, providing us with the specials and allowing us to sample items we haven't tried yet (taking time with his customers which often gets forgotten to rush them away to help the next in line). While cracking playful jokes with us, he had the customers waiting behind us laughing as well. He then welcomed us back and asked to look for him upon our return so he can give a samples of a specific cheese. Talk about customer service. It was an all around positive experience and we found ourselves talking about Nick while we continued to shop. You better believe we will be back, and we will certainly look for Nick's friendly face upon our return to your store. Please pass this on so that Nick knows of the happiness he gave to others while grocery shopping which isn't always that fun. read more
