A hostile and combative employee by the name of Charise walked approximately 25 feet and became confrontational as I was attempting to contact a supervisor regarding delivery pickup, which apparently had nothing to do with her. Even in front of a supervisor she demonstrated very extremely rude and aggressive behavior. If Giant cares about its customers, they should ensure employees such as Charise work elsewhere or have no contact with the public. read more

I had no idea that this place even existed. I didn't even come to this plaza for this, but thank god it was. This plaza made it feel like I was in a downtown area instead of in the middle of a parking lot for a plaza. It just had the cityscape feel walking between the sides. Inside it was a quick once around to grab a few items. It took me a minute or two to find my bearings in here, but I was able to find exactly what I needed in a fairly quick manner. Selection was plenty. Registers...I used the self checkouts. I hate having to have an unnecessary conversation with someone I may never see again. Once I was done with the register we made our way out. I do have to say the entrance/exit is weird. You have two, but force everyone to use the one. read more

Extremely Disappointed with Gian Food Pharmacy and Pharmacist Craig in Columbia, MD Firstly, Craig is a PIG - Craig seemed unhappy. disinterested and unengaged when providing patient care service. I called a few times, and he answers the phone never listens, always uninformed and just spiting in the phone being condescending and rude, It was evident that he had no desire to provide me with the assistance and guidance that I needed, and he ended the phone abruptly. His dismissive attitude made me feel like my concerns were insignificant and unworthy of his attention. I am a health care worker and work very close to Giant, but it was that time of the month for me as a woman, so I left work to run across the street to Giant. It was 9:58 pm - the store was supposed to close at 10:00pm. I entered the store right before 10pm, ran in the aisle to grab some tampons and I was approached by a male employee whose name was Kerry. As I reached to grab the box of Tampons, he says to me "Hey you came in through the exit the store closed at 10pm you know better than that! Put it back. The registers are shutting down". I didn't even have the energy or room to say anything because I was so in shock with how he talked down to me and was more surprised than anything. I worked retail for many years before becoming a health care worker and I was trained to treat customers right and to not talk to them any kind of way. To say the least, I was escorted out of the store, and he says again as he is putting me out "The store reopens at 6am in the morning thank you". Obviously, he was being sarcastic, and he was very unprofessional. Sadly, they lost a good customer, and I won't ever be spending my money at that Giant again. I thought to myself, "wow this is no way to treat a valued customer I shop there all the time." I felt belittled and disrespected. I just don't understand how a worker could talk to a customer that way and it's a shame. He could have been more polite. It's a certain way you talk to people respect is earned on both ends. read more

I went to this grocery store because it was right by where I wanted to grab dinner, and I needed some groceries. I was hesitant about this entire shopping center/complex because it gave me an odd feeling. The grocery store itself was well lit but the outside area was not, and it seemed quite desolate. Inside, I encountered an employee in a purple shirt screaming at one of his coworkers, who just acted as if it was normal. The people in the store were sketchy, and it does not seem like a very safe neighborhood. I saw a sign for $5 off buy 4 cereals but that $5 did not come off, probably because of incorrect signage or a faulty point-of-sale machine. The guy at the chicken place I went to said I should "be careful out there" multiple times and even pointed out that my wallet was visible. It didn't feel like I was in Columbia Maryland at all! Giant is always a decent grocery store to do some shopping. Parking is pretty good here too.

This is my neighborhood grocery store. Prices are great especially if you use the Giant app and clip the coupons. You can also use your Giant points at any Shell gas station. I will note though they have a limited produce selection and are often out some common fruits/vegetables. read more

Not much to say here - it's a standard grocery store with everything one might need. However, I have to say that the online pick-up service here is dismal. We were kept waiting for quite a long time in the cold while the assistant did... well, I don't know what they were doing, but they took forever. Some of the more "tender" items were crushed, as well, and I had to wait while a store employee ran inside to find replacements. Honestly, I think that I could have done the shopping myself a lot faster. Not likely to use this place for online pick-up service again. I'm sure it's fine for other purposes, though. For what it's worth, the employees themselves were nice. But, still. I did online pick-up so that I could just grab my stuff and roll, not to wait in the cold for 25 minutes. read more

It's just a grocery store, so there's not much to say. But a review here is worthwhile because of the GOOD experiences I've had here. Any customer service experiences I've had have been great, and if you email them (well, if you email their corporate office, I guess) you will always get top-quality answers. Well done. Just a quick edit: after moving out of the area, this is no longer my primary grocery store. Quite depressing... the other stores I've been using are so inferior to this one. Stopped by during Saturday (Memorial Day weekend). They only had 2 registers open for the entire store (the rest were "self-serve"). Neither of the 2 were express registers and both were busy with customers buying full carts. Their philosophy seems to be - if you're buying less than 12 items, you can check it yourself and bag it yourself, because we have no intention of waiting on you... a frequent occurrence at this store. Fed up with the number of times it happens, I spoke to the store manager about it, and I asked for the business phone number of the district manager. I explained that I had complained to store level management before and it does no good. He said he was not allowed to give out the DM's phone number. I pointed out that this was odd, considering the store requires me to give them my PERSONAL home number and street address to get a club card. If I don't give all this info (so they can data-mine) they deny me a club card and charge me higher prices on "hundreds of items throughout the store." I was only asking for her business number. This leads me to the conclusion that higher level management really doesn't want to hear from the customer... which is part of the problem. If there is a store level management issue, your only recourse is to complain to the person who often, is the source of the problem. In this case the manager said he was new - having only been there 2 weeks, and he acknowledged the problems associated with this location and said he was trying to fix it. He seemed sincere and i applaud him. He gave the DM my home number - and she eventually called. She said she was unable to leave a contact number for herself and said she would try again tomorrow. When high level management refuses to leave a business number - you know they're not part of the solution - they're part of the problem. And yes, I realize they often use their own cell phones because they travel from store to store, but their inability to leave customers with a business number to contact them, is a great illustration of why store problems - like the ones at Hickory Ridge - rarely get fixed. Managers cut themselves off from the customers who can best alert them to problems. Meanwhile, the liquor store in the same shopping center, had two full registers open and running when I was there today - the same number of Giant - and they are about 1/40th the size. Of course they don't try to maximize profits by making customers wait on themselves! Remember when Giant used to be a great grocery store? I do. Not now! Ever hear of Wegmans? read more

I have shopped here since the store and shopping center opened in 1993. I have lived here since 1975. I love the convenience of this location. Its SAFE and has what I want or need. No, I do not drive to Wegmans. I have checked them all out at one time, but prefer something local. I prefer knowing where the items are located, get them and head home. I can get the veggies I eat, the fruit I eat, and those items In bakery and deli if I choose. Its handy and I love having this store 5 minutes away. I could choose to shop someplace else, and I tried Wegmans. I have cards for Wegmans, Safeway, et al, but choose to go locally. I love the convenience. Its an extremely safe location, and yes, I have often walked. I have complained that they need more checkout cashiers. Cross train a few. As for online buying, they DO deliver. That's always nice as well, if you choose that route. For those unable to go to store, that's an excellent choice. Again, you have Giant, Dominos, Wine shop (gets high ratings), several restaurants, and a nail shop and bank. Great local mall. Love the convenience, and easy to park and shop. As a matter of fact, its Thanksgiving and checking to see if they are open and when so I can pick up a few things. Oh yes, I have gotten from 10 to 40 cents off GAS at Shell using my Giant card. read more

This used to be a great store 10-12 years ago. The quality of the produce has gone downhill considerably. There aren't a lot of registers open and some of the younger cashiers aren't the friendliest people. The fish department often smells really bad. Although this store is two minutes from my house, I usually make the drive to Wegmans. read more

check the prices on your items as they are being rung up! there have been two times this week when the price at checkout was higher than the price on the shelf for items. these were regular price, too, not a sale-related computer glitch. the customer service reps were happy to adjust prices when i pointed out the errors and they verified. after the first instance i started using the u-scan so i see the price at the shelf when picking up the item. that way, if there is a discrepancy i can take a picture of the price tag and show the clerk. read more

Here are the facts: -Doctor's office called in Rx on Monday -I went in that evening to pick up and they informed me that I could get half of the items and the other half were not in stock; I could come back the next day after 3 -I decided to hold and came back the next day since I couldn't use half of my order -I came back and they informed me that now I could only get the second half of the items since the first half required prior authorization; also the copay seemed high -I called the insurance; they said it was billed incorrectly and that I was authorized for the whole order -I went back in, waited in line again with a small baby in tow, there were three people back there and one working the front; he was talking to his friend -I was told that prior authorization takes 1-3 days and could only get half of the items that were authorized and incorrectly billed ($50 versus $40 copay) -I asked to speak to a manager; I waited some more; a tech came out and offered no new insight or offer to fix it -I told them to cancel everything and left; 45 minutes wasted -Doctor's office called them again the next morning; went through the whole thing with them and after 20 minutes, they said they were out of supply already -Doctor's office yelled at them and told them she was going to submit to Walgreens I have never had a prescription filled correctly at this Giant. read more

i like this store because.... the fastest checkout during peak times, 4p-6p store is clean and not cluttered fresh produce and meat; packaged items are not expired or have dust on the containers indicating its old never have to wait for someone to help you at customer service deli counter is fast w/ pleasant staff, you can even order on a computer then pick up your deli later staff are always willing to help customers in the store no matter what they are doing read more
