We met Angelo through our real estate agent and after 3 proposals from builders for construction on our new home we decided to go with Giannotta Construction. This resulted in the worst decision we made and instead of encountering an exciting time to build our new home we had to deal with constant lies, and deception. When we first met Angelo he seemed genuine as he took the time to explain everything to you and made all the promises you want to hear but unfortunately he ended up being the typical contractor you hear about who will lie straight to your face and have every excuse in the book even though you know he is lying. It first started with him lying on the progress of the foundation to almost 2 years later when we contacted him to finish the bathroom in the basement that his plumber never completed. Here are just a few examples of the nightmares we had to deal with: 1. His guys installed our new hardwood floor in the house (2 floors) and 80% of the floor had to later be replaced as it all buckled due to incorrect installation. (confirmed by a certified floor inspector) We are still dealing with some areas that he has still yet to address 2. We paid him $8K to order a custom front door and after 6 months he tried to install a different door (not even the brand or design we had in the contract). We had to fight him to get our $$ back so we can order a new custom door on our own after we waited 6 months. 3. Our architectural plans included a finished basement with a 3rdzone for HVAC and he did not want to provide this to us as he did not pay his trades for this. After knowing he wouldn't be able to fight us on this, he ended up hiring a different HVAC contractor to finally give us a 3rd zone in the basement as the original HVAC contractor would not come back. We also had to hire a painter as he would not finish the basement which includes painting of the walls/ceiling. In the end, Angelo is not a custom home builder and his work is evident of this as it is poor quality. If we did not have my dad, a retired foreman from commercial construction, constantly reviewing his work during this building process we would not have been able to finish this house the way it was designed. We have met some great contractors/trades that we separately hired during this building process who we have used more than once. Angelo could have had more work available to him if he was a trusted, honest contractor but unfortunately, he isn't one of them. read more
