The owner may or may not interject with an unrelated story about all his losses to get your pity. This man came to my home and spent 2 hours making me wish he would leave before eventually asking him to please leave. He answered my door when someone came, acting way too familiar. He then showed the person who showed up around and I heard him talking about me behind my back when he was in my backyard. He also tried hugging me at the end which I refused. People working for him called several times, acting all "familiar" with me, telling me I would get them to work on it, from the first call. I decide who I hire, it was very assumptive. The owner has behavior patterns that is disturbing. Other things were said/done that made me very uncomfortable. I'd suggest choosing someone(anyone!) else which is what I did. They are super professional! The crew which consisted of Adi, Matt & Kyle were amazing. They are polite, funny & precise. Let me start off by saying that I worked for Arnold "Arnie" Roeland 20 years ago and he is a man of integrity, trustworthy, and has a great deal of patience. Not only did he show me the ropes of becoming a great mechanic with home construction but he also graciously bought me my first set of tools. However, these days I work in the healthcare and have no time nor the patience to do home repairs myself. Fast forward to July 2018. I hired Arnie and his crew to do work on my roof, chimney and bathroom. From start to finish it was a trouble free experience, which is to be expected from him and that's the reason why I chose Roeland Home Improvers/Luxury Bath. I have a 100 year old home with a 35year old roof, disintegrating chimney, and a bathroom which was updated 40+ years ago. This company is a scam. The company is a fraud. The contractors are not licensed. They do not get permits. They lie and say Total Renovation, all they produce is 1 shower 1 toilet 1 floor. In May of 2016 we decided after nearly 20 years in Montclair that we would not renew our lease at 604 Valley Road and began looking at spaces. We found a space and signed the lease in June of 2016, and began looking for contractors. We have a contractor who has been extremely efficient and reliable for nearly 15 years, but we felt this was a job too big for him. We requested proposals from 3 companies, and ultimately decided on Roeland's, late in June. We had to vacate our current premises on July 31. No pressure. The owner, Arnie, was planning a vacation at the end of July, and the first week of July was the 4th and a holiday. He was determined to finish the job before he left for vacation. The job consisted of knocking down walls and reconstructing new walls, new ceiling, brand new hard wood floors, painting, building a bar and reception, rewiring and much electrical work, laying tile and more than I can remember. We are a 5-star dance studio and demand nothing but the best for our clients. Arnie had to hire a number of sub-contractors for different jobs, but I had all their cell phones as well as his foreman Bob, Electrician Eddie, paint supervisor Angel and floor guy Bob. To be honest, there were glitches. And we went a little over budget. There were odds and ends that weren't finished on time and blah blah blah, but see for yourself. Arnie and his team miraculously transformed a dark, claustrophobic gym into a gleaming, elegant dance studio. He was available 24/7 for advice on tiles and paint colors and even a panic attack where I nearly wanted to kill all of them - on his vacation! He talked me down and managed to transform my space in a matter of 3-4 weeks. We opened on time. It was no less than miraculous. I couldn't be happier, and you are welcome to stop in and inspect the work yourself at Fred Astaire, 414 Pompton Avenue in Cedar Grove, 1-10 Monday-Friday. Don't know why we chose them to be honest. But hey , you think they'd want to do work in bergen county to expand their business. You'd think they would want to do a good job too right ? Well they kinda did. What pissed me is the left my mother and I without a toilet or shower for 4 days. Also the shelves in the shower started falling off a month after they were done apparently due to some " bad caulk " still waiting for the guys to come back in fix it ! We hired Roeland to renovate our kitchen. He gutted the whole kitchen the next day, and he didn't return for over a month to start the work. That was the first red flag. Then, after 2 days of actually working on the renovation, his worker stole from us and lied to us and the police saying that someone broke into our home. The worker went to the police station for a statement and confessed to stealing. He was then arrested and is awaiting trial. We asked Roeland for our deposit money back as soon as the worker was arrested. We asked several times with no response. Finally we had to have a lawyer send him a letter threatening to sue. He finally paid us back slowly for almost the full amount of the deposit. It was a nightmare. Very unprofessional and shady!!!!! read more

I highly recommend Roeland Home Improvers. First impressions, was Arnold who clearly loves what he does. He surveyed the job and gave his expert recommends including items I didn't even think of - the ceiling pan which removes the moisture from the bathroom. He never tried to oversell us. He made sure we were comfortable with the cost and even threw in some minor updated for free [installing two smoke detectors, cleaning the grout in the other bathroom, etc} Arnold listened, made recommendations and allowed the bathroom to remain my style. BETH the office coordinator/manager - she was wonderful - so patient and even gave her expert recommendations. I can't forget AUDI and PONCHO! So sweet and thoughtful. Immediately, they put down tarp on my rug. They moved my new medicine cabinet twice and ensured everything was aligned. No complaints and they work fast. Always on time. To whom it may concern,   My wife and I decided on renovating a large portion of our first home to create a full luxury bath (from a half bath) , spacious laundry closet, and additional pantry closet.  After interviewing many contractors in the Morris County area we discovered Mr. Arnie Roeland.  From our first interaction there was something different about Arnie that set him apart from your typical contractor.  He genuinely shared in the excitement of our vision and personal expectations for this project.  You can tell that renovation projects are more than just a part of the business for Arnie.  He believes in creating long lasting relationships and making sure that you as a home owner are ecstatic with the end product.  After meeting with him we knew that he was the best possible choice and we were not wrong.  Arnie and his team provided us with a white glove service that you hardly ever see as a homeowner while working with contractors.  He was in constant contact with us throughout the project and his foreman Rich lead the day to day operations.  I am not going to say that everything was a picture perfect fantasy because as home owners we know that is not reality.  What I can tell you is that every bump in the road was immediately repaired by Arnie's team and in just about every case before it ever even caught our attention.  I can also tell you that Arnie and his team LISTENED.  I know that seems silly but again we all know what it is like to deal with contractors who are aggressive or insecure and do not handle any feedback well.  That was never the case with Arnie Roeland.  He welcomed feedback and worked tirelessly to collaborate with us so that we always felt we were in the driver's seat of our project.  For the record course correction was not required for the majority of the project but preferences and personal requests were.  My wife and I  came into this project hoping for a nice addition to our home and we left with having a well-established friendship with a wonderful group of hard working professionals.   I do hope that home owners read this review and know that this is one contractor that will put all your fears at ease and deliver you the dream project that you envision.  Thank you very much Arnie for all of your help and to your entire team who helped design our dream home addition.   Sincerely,   Adam and Wendy read more

We have a Quantum 2 door that the previous owners had installed by Roeland. Roeland was willing to transfer the warranty to us, for a fee, which we truly appreciated. The door is a fantastic quality- we never feel a draft during the winter. The seal on the glass caused it to need a replacement. Arnie, the owner, came out himself to replace the glass on our sliding door. He quickly had it replaced and it looks fabulous! Everyone at Roeland was pleasant throughout the process and it is great that they stand behind their products. It is not everyday that you find a company like this. I would definitely reccomend them to anyone looking to install windows or doors. read more

Cannot even give him a half of a star. Lies, misleads, offers poor business advice, and will say anything to take your money. Does not do the work himself and does not even check on his workers after they work at the site. His hired help damages property while attempting to complete work. The workers do not even complete the work and the owner has to be called several times to attempt to correct mistakes. Did not fix all of the damages. read more

If I could give it minus 2 stars I would. Five years ago, front center window and crank out casements installed good job Flash forward to April 2014 we noticed streaks between the triple panes tried calling and emailing & did not get a response until June 30 when I put in a complaint to the BBB. It is now Sept 7th and I have heard every excuse there is why the window is not getting replaced. They actually came out on Aug 25th and said oops window isnt right size. Two weeks later I have yet to get a call to reschedule. read more

I also would like to give them a negative rating. Very unprofessional owner! They subcontracted another roofer to do the job but didn't prewarn me that another company was going to show up. No supervisor was on the job, the crew didn't speak English. My lower roof was completed with mismatched pattern shingles. They redid it upon my complaint. I asked for a rooftop view of the completed job, they didn't provide it. I contracted also for a skylight install. They dropped down the window and didn't "finish" with proper trims or caulking. When I complained to the owner, he got aggravated and said, "we don't finish windows, we just install", which meant only "drop down". But I was charged an install fee! I had to pay a painter to finish with trim mouldings. The unsupervised crew did minimal cleanup and left my home with nails and debris all over the front and rear lawn and black tar on my front siding. Lastly, they bad mouthed their major competitor and were also $1000 more than them with subcontracted providers. Do not use them!!!! read more
