We've contracted with Novalis twice: first in 2022 to fully strip and intall new shingles over our entire roof, and jusy recently to prep our large exterior chimney perimeter for the mason to install a full stone veneer. This company is entirely pleasant to work with, deeply knowlegeable, and meticulous throughout every step. We couldn't be more pleased with Novalis, and recommend them fully. This is the company to use if you really want the work done properly. read more

I called Novalis to replace the EPDM on the roof of a house we were planning to buy. Things started well with the owner Jonathan being very helpful during our home buying process and providing an estimate for the work needed, which we used to negotiate a credit from the seller. Once the deal went through, we heard from multiple people that Novalis was the best, so despite their higher price we decided to go with them. We had a beam with some deflection and an old ceiling/roof made of 4" wood wool. The span between the beams was larger than normal since the house was built in the 50s. Jonathan did not see this as an issue. On the day his team was ready to start, Jonathan's father, John (who used to own the company) also showed up to supervise the project. He was uncomfortable starting the project after seeing the deflection in the beam and the span between them. He spoke with his son Jonathan who continued to say it was fine. John pulled me aside and told me I should pause the project until I had a structural engineer come out. I'm really thankful for John's honesty. After taking his advice, the plans for the project changed to include ripping off the entire roof, replacing the sagging beam, adding tongue-and-groove planks for decking, two layers of polyiso insulation, and a new layer of EPDM. John continued to supervise the project and was great to work with. He answered all of my questions and was patient in talking me through the process. The job was done quickly, and the end result looked great. Coming out of winter and into the rainy season, I cleared debris from the drains. Not long after, I heard water pouring off the corner of the roof and hitting the metal downspout. I went up to clear the debris again. This became a frequent routine, as I kept hearing water come over the roof corner. I called Jonathan to come out to discuss the drain, as well as a large wrinkle near the front of the roof that had apparently been there but was now more noticeable after debris had been continuously sitting without proper drainage. I showed him pictures of other flat roof drains being set lower into the roof to allow more water to drain and prevent them from getting clogged so quickly. Jonathan did not see a problem and said any fix to the drain would involve cutting into the membrane, which I should carefully consider. We discussed other alternatives and he said he would get back to me after discussing them with his team. A month went by without Jonathan reaching out. I called Novalis to speak with him and left a message with the front desk. A week went by without a return call. I then contacted the EPDM manufacturer, Johns Manville, and one of their specialists pointed me to a PDF showing a proper drain installation on a low-slope roof. The diagram showed, and the specialist confirmed, that the drain should have been set lower into the roof. I called Novalis two more times to discuss this and what a reasonable solution would be but they never returned my calls. I spoke with two other roofers and showed them pictures to get their opinion on how serious the issue was. They both agreed that the drain was not installed properly but also said that fixing it by cutting into the EPDM could potentially cause more problems. It's a shame that things ended this way since Novalis had my trust and confidence in the beginning. I had a lot of respect for Jonathan's father and even though he was supervising the project, mistakes happen. How you handle those mistakes really says a lot about your character. Jonathan and I could have worked this out. If he had simply stood by his work and offered an extended warranty, it would have gone a long way. Even now with our ten-year warranty, I have no idea if he would honor it. It's clear that whatever reputation Novalis had was built by his father, John. read more

Exceptional Experience with Novalis Roofing & Siding - True Professionals I can't say enough good things about my experience with Novalis Roofing & Siding. After years of frustration with a poorly installed roof on our 10-year-old home in Florham Park, NJ, I finally found a team that not only understood the issues but fixed them with integrity and care. From the start, the Novalis team was thorough and transparent. Every time we had a storm, shingles would blow off the roof. Despite having a "roof warranty," the company that originally installed it had long gone out of business--and now I understand why. The workmanship was a mess. Novalis came out, inspected the entire roof and gutter system, and took detailed photographs to show me every flaw. They walked me through the issues step by step, including improperly installed vent pipes, vented ridges, flashings, and even non-functioning bath and dryer vents. They also replaced damaged corner trim, which other companies had overlooked entirely. Their proposal was fair, and their team was incredibly professional, clean, and efficient. They completed the work exactly as promised, and the difference is remarkable. We've since had multiple storms, and I no longer worry when the wind picks up--I finally feel confident that my roof is going to last for many years to come. If you're looking for a company that stands behind their work, communicates clearly, and treats your home like their own, I highly recommend Novalis Roofing & Siding. They earned my trust and delivered top-quality results. read more

I reported a roof leak on Oct 31. The water from roof has leaked through my ceiling. After 22 days Novalis has still not repaired the roof. My ceiling is ruined. This company is unprofessional, ineffective, and has an "I don't care" attitude. They don't return phone calls. They have an inability to get a urgent water leak matter solved. Don't use this company. read more

After a severe windstorm tore off part of my siding and damaged a section of my roof, I reached out to Novalis, and I'm so glad I did. It's rare these to find a company that delivers both high-quality and great customer service. I highly recommend them to anyone needing roof or siding repair -- especially after storm damage. They truly went above and beyond! read more

Novalis in 2023 removed a old leaking sky light on a front patio flat roof, re pitched roof for better drainage and installed a Acrylic Membrane roof excellent work. June 2025 installed new roof on rest of house, replaced rotted plywood, installed Owen's Corning water, ice and snow shield, and attic ventilation then a good quality shingles. They took pictures of roof and inside attic showing where plywood was rotted. Installed drainage by chimney to prevent water from laying on roof. Crew very detailed everyone knew their job, received reports and pictures daily on work that was completed- job was not rushed, what I like is they do not use sub contractors or day laborers, all work done by long time full time employees, job site cleaned at end of day, used magnetic sweeper around entire house and driveway. Very pleased with crew, the quality of their work and attention to details. read more

Novalis did an amazing job immediately scheduling a consultation for us I reached out. Their inspection provided detailed images and descriptions of what needed to be fixed. They did a great job replacing the siding on our house and gutters. Overall, they provided great communication, detailed work, and a meticulous clean up. Would highly recommend! read more

Used Novalis recently to replace our gutters and to install new gutter guards. Their installers were prompt, courteous and meticulous in their work. The finished product is superb. You may pay more with Novalis, but their materials and craftsmanship is worth every penny. Highly recommended. read more

Was referred to Novalis from a family member. They came over within days of reaching out and their sales man did a very thorough inspection and explanation of what needed to be done. Although we also got another quote from another company Novalis definitely was the best company with the most effective technology for our flat roof. We received lots of pictures before and after as well. The job was completed fairly quickly even with our family schedule delay and weather delays. read more

I had another good experience with Novalis Roofing of Chatham. Years ago they put a new roof on, with no issues. A few months ago they replaced some of my gutters, and recently fixed a piece of siding that had been ripped off. Everyone is friendly informative and knowledgeable on what they do. Antonio was helpful and explained the work that needed to be done. I will always use Novalis for my outside home repairs. read more

Thorough, on time, great communication and great work. Highly recommend! I would use them again if we ever have any further roof issues.

Excellent service and workmanship. Had storm damage to my roof overnight. Called Novalis and they came out the next day and did a repair. Within a couple of days the replacement trim was fitted and fastened. Very well done ! read more

What a company! I've heard horror stories about the roofing industry and roof replacements. After meeting five different contractors the choice was clear. Novalis is playing at a different level. Was it more expensive, yes but the quality and trust is well worth the price you pay. Just like everything else you get what you pay for and we got exactly what we were looking for. read more

TL;DR: Overall I am quite disappointed that Novalis i) offered a bad solution to my issue; ii) falsely overpromised on what their work would achieve; iii) weren't willing to stand by their work and accept responsibility that the work did not do what they said it would, iv) wouldn't work with me to find a solution; and most importantly v) talked about me behind my back and then pretended to be nice about it to my face. Full review: I had a very negative experience with Novalis. I called them to come check out a leak I was having that was showing up around my chimney inside the attic. Someone from Novalis came out to inspect and informed me that the flashing looked to be in good shape but that the leak was coming from the chimney itself, and said there were cracks in the mortar that needed to be filled to stop the leaking. I gave them the ok to start work based on their diagnosis but sure enough, the work did not solve the issue. I called them again to let them know and see if there was anything to be done. This time, a different tech came out and gave us a totally different diagnosis and said that the "solution" that last tech had given us wouldn't have worked - he even said he was going to talk to him when he got back to the office to figure out why he gave that recommendation. When I called the office later to discuss that discrepancy, I was told that the original work they performed wasn't guaranteed to work - but it's the first step in a series of steps which they take to try to eliminate what the potential issue is. I understand that it can be very difficult to diagnose the source of a roof leak, but that is not how the original tech presented his solution to us. He assured us what he gave as a recommendation would work. If it was presented as a potential solution I may not have done the work or at least would have had different expectations. It is strange to offer solutions in a prescribed order, rather than trying to accurately diagnose the problem the first time. I asked if we could compromise and have the cost of the original work (or some portion of it) offset against the next "step" of their plan since what they had done originally didn't fix anything. It was only a couple hundred dollars that would be offset against several thousand. Given the lack of communication and the fact that the second tech told us the first guy had no idea what he was doing, I thought it was a reasonable request. The sales person on the phone said let me speak to my sales manager. The next part is the real kicker and the reason I won't work with Novalis again. The sales person thought that they put me on hold, but in reality I could still hear the conversation between them and the sales manager. They spent several minutes talking about how it was crazy I would even ask for something like that, that I had no idea what I was talking about and that they would never even consider any sort of compromise like that. They also said some not friendly stuff about me and insulted my intelligence while they thought I couldn't hear. The sales person got back on the line - faking friendliness - and was starting to tell me they can't meet me halfway. At which point I told them, politely (which was hard), that I was going to find a different company to work with and would recommend that you not talk poorly about your customers behind their back when you think they are on hold. Novalis is not a company I would trust with my roof or chimney, nor to let in my house again. I have not heard from Novalis since this incident. We have since had other roofing companies come out to inspect, and have seen photo evidence that the work performed by Novalis was done haphazardly and fixed absolutely nothing. read more

Our roof project is complicated. It involves solar panel removal, flat and shingle roof replacement/repair, leader and gutters, rooftop deck, and soffit repair. Before we chose Novalis, we had seen multiple roofing companies. Novalis' quote was not the lowest but their proposal was very detailed and reasonable and it was clear to us that they knew what are the right things to do. The project took 5-6 full days and the step by step process was very well planned and executed. Jonathan is a domain expert and his crew is very professional. We are very happy with the project, and highly recommend. read more

I found out David Novalis sold his business to his son in law. Caveat Emptor. Jon Novalis is no David Novalis. He confirmed an appt and ends up being an HOUR LATE to appt. NO apology for lateness no prior update on arrival status. Jon Novalis is rude, not customer focused. He said Your not my only customer I had 10 other appointments I text you. Yeah well there's a difference initiating a text update and responding to one. A promised roof proposal never was sent. Jon Novalis could use some of what David Novalis possesses humility, compassion and his word actually meaning what he says. I don't recommend dealing with him. read more

Novalis installed our roof less than 5 years ago. With the most recent rain, we had a leak in our ceiling that was caused by failed installation of flashing. When they came to assess the problem, I was told that the flashing was fine; they seemed to also try to pass the buck to my siding installer. Please note that my siding was installed 2 years prior to the roofing installation. They finally concluded that the mold on my ceiling must have been caused by 7 houseplants that I have on my windowsill in the room. When I questioned their assessment I was told very bluntly that the rep from the company had been roofing for more than 30 years and that I was not correct. Their assessment did not even include removal of the siding over the flashing. I have called several other people for their assessment including a mold removal specialist and a contractor and all independently reached the same conclusion - the flashing was not installed properly by the roofer. Cannot say how disappointing this experience has been. read more

The service from Novalis was excellent. They are competitive in their pricing, and reliable about the planning and the installation processes . They worked quickly and efficiently and completed the job in the time expected. Their clean up was fabulous and then they sent me flowers as a thank you! All in all it was a good experience but I've worked with them before..... so I knew what to expect. I would highly recommend this company. read more

Novalis performed an extensive roof replacement on our house following the discovery of a number of interior leaks. They were timely, professional, reasonably-priced, and I never felt up-sold on unnecessary work. Notably, they were ready to start the project ahead of schedule, which happened to be right after a huge snowstorm in New Jersey! Rather than delaying the project further (which would have likely led to more interior leaking), their team jumped right in and cleared about a foot of snow from our roof before starting the work, which was completed in less than a week (mind you, they were replacing about 70% of our roof). It was super easy to communicate with the project manager and team members when we had questions, and they kept us constantly apprised about the status of the project. What is more, they've been extremely responsive in liaising with our insurance carrier concerning the repairs. I have recommended Novalis to others in the area and will readily do so in the future! read more

We moved to Maplewood in July and could tell that our roof had approximately one good rain left before our house became an above-ground pool. We reached out to Novalis who quickly scheduled an appointment to come check it out. They got us a quote promptly and were very upfront that they weren't the cheapest guys on the block, but that they would do quality work (guaranteed). The fact that it was a third generation family-owned business gave us peace of mind that they wouldn't try to cut corners. And they did not! They spent 3.5 days replacing a 30 year old roof (with lots of rotten wood) and it now looks 100000% better - and actually keeps water out! They really paid a lot of attention to the details, and even put up some shingling (that matches our existing) where the previous "patch job" by someone else had included just slopping some tar around. We were relieved that they didn't go over budget... We are going to replace all our siding in the spring and are definitely going to use them. Very happy with their work! read more

Novalis Roofing & Siding - fixed previous crazy patch job - Roofing Near Me - Chatham, New Jersey

Surprisingly disappointed, as Novalis should have a strong reputation. I had minor work needed to be done to my roof after damage done by a storm over a year ago. After agreeing to the proposal, Novalis did not show and were extremely difficult to receive updates from. When I finally could get in touch, they told me it would be done sometime that week (many times I was told this). While I understand my project was minor and fell towards the bottom of their priorities compared to full roof repairs, I would at least expect transparency and to have my calls returned. At the very least, if they couldn't do the project then they could have said no. Eventually I went with another roofing company that was quick, efficient, transparent, and professional. read more

Fantastic service. They were prompt, knowledgeable, and did a great job. The Novalis team was outstanding from the initial phone call through the completion of the work. Is there a 6th star? From the inspection to the quote (with pics and notations) to the execution of the job, I am yet to see a more professional and thorough provider. They came back with various solutions to consider and went over pros/cons of each one. Jonathan and Dave Novalis are above and beyond. Their foreman Jim is incredibly knowledgeable and the results, well, amazing. If you want gutters cleaned cheap, you may find someone else. But if you have a project and you want TOTAL peace of mind and 100% satisfaction from beginning to end, trust me and call these guys. Thanks Jonathan, Dave, Jim, Ana and the crew! read more

We were extremely pleased with the professionalism and honesty of the Novalis team. They worked with us over a period of several months trying to help us fix various leaks in our roof to forestall an inevitable re-roofing job. We finally had no choice and decided to proceed with the work, which included the installation of three new skylights as well. We found them to be very competitively priced and the project was completed perfectly! Thanks to Jon and John especially - John Novalis acted as the foreman and was on site for the entire length of the job. We could not be more pleased and recommend highly! read more

We received an invoice on 12/24 from Novalis Roofing for work at our home & we were disappointed with the disclaimer "Due to the condition of the roof this repair proposal cannot be guaranteed to stop the active leak". In an email exchange with the sales person, in a text exchange with the estimator & in a phone conversation with the sales person I shared our concerns about this being an ongoing problem with the same solution being offered but we were reassured that this repair would address the problem. The leak started in Sept 2018 - when our roof that was installed by Novalis - was just 13 years old. David Novalis said the spot in the upstairs bedroom was not from a leak. Okay. In Feb 2020 we spent $4,725 with Novalis on new gutters & roof repair that included lift & seal all shingles, cracks, nail pops & rusted nails. Great maybe this will fix the leak. In Dec 2020 we reached out again to Novalis as the roof was leaking & paid $350 for the repair which included lift and seal all shingles, cracks, nail pops and rusted nails. Now in Dec 2022, the leak is worse than ever. Antonio comes, the proposal is the same, the sales person & I have a long conversation where he assures me that Novalis will lift & seal all shingles, cracks, nail pops & rusted nails within 10 feet of the leak & this will fix the problem. In that same conversation with Fritz, I told him that we were contemplating working with another company since all prior efforts to fix this ongoing problem had not resolved anything & the solution was the same. Fritz assured me that Novalis was confident in Antonio's abilities to solve this once & for all, & that there wasn't a need for us to look elsewhere. Unrelated to the leak, we spent $3,945 with Novalis to fix storm damage to our roof & gutters. We've given them significant business & put our trust in them. We emailed Novalis on 12/24. Got a response saying they'd get back to us. We emailed 12/28. No response to date. Reported to Better Business Bureau and Novalis didn't respond to them either. read more

I am so grateful to all at Novalis. I am a widow and own my home (overwhelming) for my daughter and I. I was so impressed that the owners cared about our situation -even though they did not know us. They came the same day to help me and provided a very thorough proposal the next day. I chose them for their kindness, support and will have them replace the entire roof. So grateful , Marisa Spagnoletti.. read more

Jonathan and his team have helped us out twice: once to put a new roof on the house, and months later to fix it after a tree fell through our home. Great people, very fair rates, and the service gets done quickly and well. So glad to have found an honest roofing and siding company. read more
