Dr Ghozlan is nice enough, he explained treatment for my son. He gave the good, the bad and the downright ugly... I knew going in what the plan of treatment was, I knew the possible outcomes from the best case scenario to the very worst case scenario. He's pretty much a no BS doctor. He was straightforward and said if I wasn't comfortable with the worst case scenario happening not to schedule the treatment. It wasn't in a rude manner that he said it, it was more of a "I don't want you upset if I can't save the tooth" way. The receptionists are outstanding. Very nice. Even on Saturdays when I'm sure they don't want to be there. Gloria is exceptionally nice. The assistants meh. One was obnoxiously talkative but I prefer that over the one who mumbled and barely said anything and then looked annoyed when I asked what the Dr had decided about the treatment. She didn't realize that after the X-ray he wanted to still speak with me so she was ready to let us leave with no information. I didn't catch her name. Overall for someone who is scared of dentists this place seems ok. My son took to the dentist ok and I'm now coming in to be seen after years of neglecting myself. read more

Started from the beginning I got a root canal, they had alot of trouble trying to get it through my medical. Trying to get me to get my wisdom teeth out that medical dont wanna cover anything cause I still have them. Witch there not a problem at all. Never been with any other dentist ever. I finally got the root canal, ended up getting a bad infection had to go to er cause no one at there office would help with the pain I was in and the weird taste that was in my mouth. Ended up I had a infection and needed meds. But he said nothing was wrong. Fast forward to last Friday the 13th, I made a appt letting them know the tooth they fixed broke. And was cutting my cheek. I come in, it started with that I put on my papers from when I 1st came in I was pregnant witch i didn't. It was initialed too. Not my initials tho I said that. She said idk. I said I do I didn't cross that out who did?? She said just sign it. I said ok. Than I go back, I sit there gonna do a cleaning I said wait what. I said I didn't call for a cleaning. I didn't call to have you guys clean my teeth, my tooth broke. Then one you fixed. What can we do. He says medical won't cover, I said yes. He gets rude like im 5, says to the girl shes not listening shes dumb. Explain. She says you had a consult its 650, to fix or do you want it pulled. I was like wait 650 you can send to my insurance again. She says no they won't except your gonna pay. I said no, im not. I'll decide. To today.... I call medical find out 1, they never paid for tooth #31 root canal. And never sent for crown. So asking for me to pay in full for it all is wrong. And I won't be doing so at all. They want my wisdom teeth pulled for what reason? She said they never put in a request. Medical advised me to go somewhere else and to not go back. Medical pays for alot be careful guys. Trust all negative reviews wish I would've done my research before wasting my time here. Not only Ghozlan is rude but he will have you waste your time just to build insurance and make it very obvious. For cleaning, they just wipe fluoride on a cotton and put it all over your teeth without properly brushing or flossing your teeth. Never Have I Ever experienced such unprofessionalism. Such disregards for patient care EVER in my life. Dr. Ghozlan, A, DDS has no place in dentistry. I would not wish this dentist onto my worst enemy. Root Canal done Thrusday. No after care instructions, no emergent number in case of issue. I had even asked if there is any suggestions for after treatment care before leaving the office that day and I was told clearly "NO there is not". A follow up app scheduled Monday. Pain slowly increased to a point where over the counter pain medication did nothing. Called the office number several times in hopes to leave a voicemail or perhaps some advice. There was no voicemail phone just kept ringing. Being in Extreme pain I called advise nurse who advised to go to urgent care. Sunday evening went to urgent care per advise nurse suggestion and they gave a pain shot, and prescribed pain medication and antibiotic and said it is clearly an infection of the root canal. Went to scheduled appt on Monday morning. Doctor greeted with a rude sarcastic laugh "Did you survive the weekend?" as we walked by him to sit. Assistant started to open all supplies and I stated "I'm not sure if they are going to do work today, they think theres an infection" assistant stopped walked a few steps and I can hear doctor reply with a laugh "Oh No theres no infection" he said that without even looking at the tooth. He walked over without an opportunity to discuss the weekend events started raising the chair and putting the gloves on. I attempted to explain what had occurred over the weekend to be silenced with a verbal "shhhh" and hand raised to the face with one finger raised in motion to silence me. I then passed the urgent care paperwork to him and asked please read. He looked it over a few seconds gave it back with a snigh and as my husband on the chair attempted to explain what had happend when Dr. Ghozlan placed his hand abruptly in his mouth pressed down on his gums. My husband jumped up in pain, doctor took his hands out of his mouth began snapping his gloves and said "Oh No no there is no tooth infection" my husband and I looked at each other and then I began to say "Im sorry sir did you not see the way my husband jumped up right now?" when he spoke over me and had no regard to what I was attempting to say and raised his hand to shhh me again. My husband attempted to speak when he spoke over him. My husband and I sat quietly to wait for Dr. Ghozlan to stop his rude comments and obvious disregards for what my husband was experiencing. Then I looked to my husband and said "we need to go" I looked at the doctor and advised "you will be receiving a complaint to the board from us sir" He raised his voice in a rant and said "You get out of here! you are not welcomed!" My husband in attempt to calm him and the situation attempted to say "sir I do not want to complain to the higher ups but please listen to what I am trying to say" the doctor then spoke over him stood inches from his face and said "Go ahead Do it Do it! How dare you threaten me" my husband then motioned his hand toward me to walk out. I then yelled "No sir that is not a threat, that is a promise." I called the office to ask the name of the doctor when Daniela said "Im sorry I can not release any information" I was just asking for the dentist name in the office. Stay away! This office is terrible. They are illegally charging cancellation and no show fees to Denti-cal patients. The staff has no idea who the managers are, they are not professional and are rude. The dentist, Dr Ghozlan does not care, he leaves patient small issues untreated until the issues are major and he can change more for root canals and crowns! I don't normally post reviews but this is the worst dentist anyone could ever go to! Staff is kind but the dentist is very rude and impatient. Asked him a question and he looked at me like I was stupid. Save your time and money and seek else where. Western Dental has better dentist than this place. Also you schedule an appointment for one time and he is so rushed and keeps stating that he needs to hurry because he is so busy. Maybe he shouldn't overbook himself ALSO! The staff at Lodi Dental Center are friendly and nice, the reason I gave this place a low rating was the fact the place had carpet in the area where the dental chairs are, which is a bit of a health hazard. Hardwood floor or Laminate would be best, since it's easy to clean and won't be a health problem. Another reason I gave this place a low rating, was the fact the dental assistant that cleaned my teeth didn't floss my teeth after cleaning. Final reason I gave a low rating is also the Dr. didn't do the gum checking, meaning the dentist uses a tool to go into the gum pockets to check the depth of the pocket, the dentist goes over each gum and says the numebers out loud on how deep the pocket of the gums are, while the assistant types down the number in the computer. This process is necessary to make sure you don't have gingivitis. Also this is just my personal opinion on this, I don't care for having a tv in each seating room while waiting for the doctor. I find it too much noise, the sounds from each tv tend to over lap a bit due to being a bit loud, and being close too each other even though there is a wall blocking each room off. I find this a bit overstimulating for me. I really hoped this place was going to be a good one, but sadly it wasn't for me. read more

Honestly I'm so sad he has so many bad reviews. My kids have been coming here for years & he's always so patient & great with them. I recently switched over to him & he's the first dentist that I've ever had that was kind & considerate. I have horrible dental anxiety bc of past experiences. He was so understanding. I got a root canal recently, he was able to work with my money wise, & helped me get over my anxiety. The root canal was painless & recovery was minimal. Every dentist I've had shamed me & he was always nice. The staff is great! They help with my kids during my apts, they're so nice & friendly. Most of the complaints people seem to have are about needing a lot of dental work & it costing money. That's how most dentist are. I stay because of the kindness & care. Great dentist! I recommend to anyone who asks, kids & adults! I also wanted to add that anytime I call for an apt, even emergency, they get me in right away. I have family that goes here so I thought I'd give it a shot I went in for what I thought was going to be a root canal but was told I need to extract. Made an appointment for the following week. Since it was multiple teeth I wanted to discuss my options on implants, I don't want to go without teeth. Obviously right?! When I asked about it he told me I can't afford it. I reported this dentist to the board - he is rude and his staff is incompetent. Took money for root canal and I could never get an appointment. Found another dentist and he refused to refund my money!!! He tried to get me to sit in his chair saying I had to prove I had work done elsewhere. He was just trying to bill insurance for another visit so I refused. I had to send a demand letter threatening to take him to court to get my money back!!! I wanted to really like this place. Unfortunately, that was not the case in the long run. Initially he was informative and explained things well when I was getting seen the first time. However when I came back for fillings, they booked me at 4pm. I thought that was odd so I double checked the time, but I was right. I got to the office and waited, when the dr came to my room he asked me what tooth I was getting done, and I kind of stumbled on my words and said- well I assumed several since I had several teeth that needed a filling. He looked confused and said sit back, we will see. He names a few teeth and pulls out the needle to numb. I take responsibility for being emotional and nervous, but as a professional dentist I'm sure I am not the first or even the most anxiety ridden patient he's had. He was very short, I could tell he was wanting to get out of the office. (I don't blame him, it was 430 by this point but why book me so late then? I didn't set the freakin appt.). After a few mins of feeling rushed and asking him to explain some things with very little conversation, (I'm in tears by this point) he realizes I'm emotional and kind of chills out. I gather myself and we move forward. He numbs me, starts drilling, and literally saying to his tech "It's 4:35, can you believe that!? I can't believe it's 4:35.". Which made my anxiety even worse cause clearly he doesn't want to be there WELL NEITHER DID I. He did ONE tooth and said not to set another appt cause he wasn't available for a few months but to call in a week to check the schedule. And that we needed to go slow because I was nervous. Long story short I was rushed, no information, shut down all my questions, and amplified the anxiety I was already feeling. It was so awkward and abrupt, the ending of the visit was as well, that I left in tears, sat in my truck and just felt really bad about the experience. read more

This dentist seems to be more concerned with his practice production than taking care of his patients. In his dictionary, pocketbook comes before patient care. Does not have a hygienist to do cleanings for patients. He would rather make patients wait so he can do the cleanings himself and not have to pay a dental hygienist their salary. It shows I already reviewed but I wanted to update and again reiterate how great Dr Ghozlan has been to me. His staff is so so most of them nice but you can tell the majority are inexperienced. By that I mean just out of school. Addie is great, he works her hard but she gets stuff done. I hope he pays her well. He does get people in and out quick and isn't super talkative. I know Ive felt like I was a bother to him when I asked about things but I'll take that since at least for me he explains what he's doing. He knows I've had very bad experiences with dentists and am very untrusting when it comes to having my mouth worked on. He's very expressive and shows his emotions by the sighs he lets out, again, maybe not professional but at least I know what he's doing. I know my mouth needs a lot of work and other dentists have made comments that my teeth have oddly long, twisted roots. When it comes to medical stuff my body likes to be difficult. Their customer care from a payment standpoint is total crap. I made my first ever appointment with them for a Saturday, verified my insurance carrier was accepted etc. However when I arrived that Saturday I was informed that they could not verify my insurance on the weekend and I would be responsible for paying up front and getting it refunded after they got payment from my insurance. I was annoyed that they hadn't... 1.) verified my insurance ahead of time or 2.) informed me of this policy before I came. I begrudgingly paid up and the appointment itself was fine, nothing spectacular, didn't get a dental goodie bag at the end like I'm accustomed to getting but no big deal. Upon wrapping up my visit they told me to expect a call from their insurance coordinator on Monday about the payment/refund...they never called. By Thursday of that week I called them and I got the impression that they hadn't done anything with my account. I asked them to please call me when the funds were released back to my credit card and big surprise...they never did. So 2-3 weeks later I followed up and I didn't feel too reassured that they had done anything. They said they would talk to the employee that handles such things and call me back. BIG SURPRISE, they didn't so... Now it's LATE DECEMBER when I noticed on my credit card website that they STILL hadn't refunded the charge! (the original appointment was all the way back in SEPTEMBER). I called and demanded to speak directly with the person who "handles" this and was assured that they did it then and there but all I got was a lame apology! The charge had been on my account for MONTHS after they claimed to have taken care of it causing me to have paid interest on it and all I got was a shitty apology. They are a shitty business. I should never have had to fork over the charge in the first place but then to have to follow up with 4-5 separate phone calls to get it refunded when they received payment from my insurance mere days after my appointment is practically criminal. read more

I took my 13 year old daughter to him for about a year and a half. Dental "cleanings" were a few minutes with an instrument then a polish. No scaling etc. She had a huge cavity in her back molar which he said because of her age insurance would not cover treatment and we should " keep an eye on it. The last visit he wanted me to find someone else to pull it and offered me a referral. I ended up taking her to the dental office my husband services as a IT Technician in San Bruno. They informed me she had 14 cavities! The molar was affectively filled by them although Dr. Ghozlan said it could not be filled. Dr Ghozlan's office never told me she needed fillings in her teeth. I believe their poor cleanings were a contributor to the amount of cavities she had. It seems he wants to do the minimum and who knows what he was billing denti cal for her visits. The office was clean and the receptionists were very adept--with the exception for Denti-Cal coverage. They tried to say I was not covered for a slew of services Denti-Cal does cover for adults (both Denti-Cal's website --and-- customer service contradict this office's statements). However Dr. Ghozlan himself (if he's the one who covers his beard with a N95 face mask) was brutal and utterly lacked compassion. He said I wasn't covered for cleanings (which I am) and proceeded to "do me a favor [and] save me $800" by jamming his cleaning instrument hard and fast into my teeth and gums. My gums didn't just bleed, he lacerated them in several places on the left side. He asked me if I had "any money", had friends or family who had money, or could apply for CareCredit and then lied about my not being covered by Denti-Cal for fillings and crowns again. Just an FYI to anyone reading this, in 2013, CareCredit was fined $34.1-million dollars because of shady dentists, doctors, and vets trying to force people to use their credit card system. Only gave him one star cuz I had to but would give him no stars!! He did a root canal and only went Half way to my root and my tooth still hurt so I went to a good dentist and u can see in the X-ray! NEVER AGAIN! Root canal is split into 6 different procedures, which means having to go back 6 different times! You wait in the chair longer than the doctor is with you. Office staff is wonderful, very nice but the doctor is so impatient and rude to them! I couldn't believe how they were being spoken to and how he would just swat their hands out of the way if he wanted them to move! He wouldn't do anything for the amount of pain that I was in besides say "hopefully the antibiotic works and you'll feel better, don't be so soft." And when the crown finally came in and was placed, I told him it felt high, and was very uncomfortable, he said "it looks fine." And grounded down all my other good teeth to make that one fit! But I know how I felt and he didn't do a thing about it. Now my teeth surrounding the crown feel rough and uneven. UGH. The office staff just said "give it a try and if it's still uncomfortable after a day or two, you can come back and we'll fix it." AS IF I WANTED TO WASTE MORE TIME OUT IF ANY OF MY DATS TO HAVE TO COME BACK AGAIN!! Splitting the procedure up so you don't have to sit there for hours to get a root canal done is fine and dandy when you have the time to keep going back and forth but I can't just keep taking time off work to do that. They should give you the option to have it all done in one day or split it up. They say he does that because he schedules more patients than he can see, so he spends 10 minutes with you and moves on to the next. NEVER AGAIN. read more

If i could give zero i would! Called yesterday made an appt! I gave them my insurance info and all! Today i go in appt at 10am...i got there 950....once i get there they have me wait while they check for my insurance! Why would u check when i already gave u that info yesterday! Your suppose to have everything ready,so when i walk in i just have to sign paper work and thats it! Soo i wait! Its now 1030 and i still havent been called uo or havent been told anything! Was here about a month ago for a quick cleaning. Ended up waiting 90 minutes before the cleaning initiated. If you like an environment where the pace isn't efficient and the staff never checks up on you after being "in the chair"....this is the place to be.
