My boyfriend and I went there for dinner and were impressed with the food and the service. Portions are a good size - we split 2 entrees and still had a little to take home. Ughhhhh.....I hate when I have a great initial experience at a place, then I get all excited for the next time, and the next time sucks :( So it's another Friday night and I'm craving Indian food again. Without hesitation, I call up GEK. I ordered everything I ordered last time with Tandoori Chicken added for my friend. Ok, first of all, it took an hour and 20 minutes to get here. I was a little annoyed since the estimated time was 45-60 min and last time they were here within 45 min, but it was still ok because I was starving. Open the bag and wth?! The Tandoori Chicken container was smashed on the top which didn't help the already unappealing visual of the chicken. It looked like 2 legs/wings that here heavily blackened (more than usual) with a lump of peas and mushrooms. Seriously, $16 for two dried out chicken wings?! My friend couldn't even eat it, it was so bad. Then, there was one small container of Basmati rice. ONE container for an order of butter & Tandoori chicken ?! And of course they charge extra for Naan, so that wasn't included. The samosas were definitely frozen, as the inside was ice cold. My friend called to complain and they basically said oh well, of course. The butter chicken and biryani (although not that spicy) was delicious as before, so they can keep their 2 stars. read more

So let me just start by saying that the food here is great! My problems are a few things: the price, the delivery time, AND some of the portions. I paid $21 for butter chicken, rice and ONE piece of naan. That is totally unacceptable. Almost 3 dollars for one piece of naan that will not last through the ample portion of butter chicken they give you (which comes with too much sauce IMHO, it drowns the 4 pieces of moderately sized chicken they give you).Also the delivery time is less than great, an hour plus, so just make sure you aren't starving if you order your food from here it will be awhile. It is almost enough to make me never order again but like I stated above the food is good. The butter chicken is very flavorful with just a hint of spice. The rice is cooked well, and accompanies the butter chicken well. The naan tastes amazing as well I just wish I got two pieces instead of the one so that I could have enough to finish my meal. read more

This place was very good! Kind of pricey at first glance, but when we got the delivery, the portions were great and made it worthwhile. The tandoori chicken order gives you a 1/2 chicken each. The white meat was a bit dry, but overall very good and the sauces were excellent. read more

I loved this place. We walked in right at 10pm which is their closing time, but they sat us anyway even though the place was empty and closing would have been a breeze. They were also extremely friendly and pleasant. The food was great. I had the Chicken Tikka Masala and my friends had some of the goat dishes. All of the dishes were great. Garlic naan was good too. I tried this place out with a friend after reading the reviews on Yelp. We went on Friday night not to long after they opened for dinner service. That might be one of the reasons for the good service we had, but the waiter answered our questions and was friendly. I had Khaski Ko Masu (goat meat w/ Nepali curry) and my friend had goat meat kababs. I really enjoy spicy foods in general and I thought my dish had the right amount of spices and very flavorful. I've never had goat meat, but it was very tender. It was also the right amount of serving for me since I ate all the meat and had the sauce leftover and I even took that home so I could enjoy it later. The rice was good as well. My friend said hers was good, but a bit dry and after dipping it in the green sauce, she said it was good. I don't live near Silver Spring so I won't be able to visit as often as I want, but the next time I'm in the area, I'll definitely check them out again. read more

Excellent service, space a bit tight , food ok but nothing special. My daughter who is not Indian does a better job with her Indian dishes.

Came here with a fairly large group of work colleagues for dinner. We were a large group and I expected the food to take time to come out but we waited for nearly an hour and the food wasn't even brought out in the proper order. They brought the naan out last! Essentially all our food was eaten with the rice before the naan came out. Naan was also a bit doughy. Their Nepalese dishes are yummy and appropriately spiced whereas the other dishes were on the sweeter side. They for some reason don't cook their peas in any of their dishes. No idea why. Nice interior and good for large groups. Portion size is quite small so be ready to order quite a bit. Get the lamb dishes! read more

delightful and quaint for the veg and carnivore alike, friendly staff and organic ingredients! only beer and wine but the food and atmosphere is so worth the experience. they serve perfectly toasted papadom. i have had chana masala, aloo gobhi, and saag paneer. always exquisite. my carnivore friend says the lamb vindalooo is the best he's had this side of london. read more

When you first see it you might just notice it's simple exterior. But, the inside is charming. Their produce is all grown on their organic farm. Our waiter was very kind and gave my kids complimentary mango lassis that were delicious. The samosas and fried lentil balls were light and airy in addition to the fact they were not greasy. Our main meal was not exactly what we requested but we were very pleased. The wait was a little long, but the food was worth it. Buffet was limited compared to the menu. Very fair pricing. My BF and I really enjoyed this restaurant. The best part of this place is the extremely attentive service and cozy atmosphere, but the food is very satisfying as well. We wouldn't call it the best Indian in DC, but we will be repeat customers. We had chicken momos for an appetizer; neither of us had eaten Nepalese food so were surprised to see "potstickers", but deliciously seasoned with nice dipping sauces. Our main course was chana masala and the Nepalese main chicken dish (can't remember the name now) - also both well-cooked. We liked that you weren't served a huge dish of rice (which always seems to go to waste on 2 people), but instead the server monitored our bowl carefully and filled partially as requested on a refill. The food here is amazing. We have tried the Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Saag, and Lamb Korma- all wonderful. Definitely the place to go if you are looking for delicious, quality tasting Indian food. The price seems comparable with most restaurants like this. The delivery service is slow, but most places in the Silver Spring area aren't much better. The only real downside is that the portions (at least for their delivered items) are incredibly small compared to what you will get for the same price at other restaurants. Most of the time when we order Indian food, if we get one entree per person we have plenty left over. We were happy we ordered what we thought would be an extra entree since the others were gone fast! They do supply plenty of rice though. The samosas were delicious- not overly fried. The food (Nepalese) is well prepared (though not spicy), the service is quick and accommodating and the proprietor also owns an organic farm where he sources many of his vegetables. He happened to be around that night and was extremely warm and welcoming to us, even though we had people coming in late and we waited a while to get going. They have great patience for families with kids. We have tried many dishes on several and all have been mostly good. When its a good day, the food was fresh, not overly oily and delicately spiced. I took a group to Ghar-E-Kabob, and every last person loved their food! I can't remember when I have been with a group when that has been the case. Both the vegetarians and the meat eaters were really happy. It took some time to get us all served, but it was well worth the wait. The restaurant was great to work with before and during the event. The parents particularly noted how kind and attentive the owners/servers all were to their kids. We will be back! read more

This place might get two or three stars from me if the prices weren't so high and the portions so small. The food is largely flavorless. Even the spicy stuff is just pepper, not flavor. Compare to Tiffin in Langley Park, which has stellar and very consistently stellar food. Overpriced for what you get. Small portions and generally disappointing. Saag paneer was runny, watery and just bad.

Ordered the Malai Kabab. Bland and boring. Just absolutely 0 flavor or spice. For $15 I expected much, much more. The rice was even dry. The description listed 4-5 marinades, but it literally tasted like a plain chicken breast cooked on the grill at home...but overcooked and dry...for $15. My family has been here for lunch and dinner, and both are fantastic. They're family-friendly too. Our waiter brought a small amount of chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, and rice, plus a (very) tiny mango lassi, free of charge for our 1-year-old (only at dinner, not at lunch). Three starts because service was not good at all. They fill your water cup up once then never fill up until you get up and ask for it again. Also they were no napkins on table or given. Food it self was decent but they gotta step up their spice game. The restaurant can be great if they serve you more professionally. read more
