    Mismatched appliances

My parents joined Outdoor World in 1990, it has since been acquired by Thousand Trails. This place has gone down hill! We generally rented cabins, so we can't speak to rv/tent accommodations. The newer cabins are decent. We had 3 cabins on this trip. One of them was terrible, one was decent and one was a newer one and it good shape. All of them needed a good deep cleaning. In the worst one there were holes in the walls, mismatched appliances that were yellowed and a wall fixture falling out of the wall, to name a few things. In the decent one the shower faucet was falling out of the wall. When Outdoor World owned this place the accommodations were better kept. They also had better furniture. Two of the cabins only had futons in the living area. They used to have a pullout couch and arm chairs. Maybe someone had a sale on college dorm room futons and they scooped them up?!?! The Wi-Fi was terrible and if you have Verizon, be prepared for limited service. The landscaping and cleanliness of the resort properties were pretty good. Although they needed to use some roundup around the cabin and campsites. Maybe do a better job of insect control as well. As you can see in the photos, a hornet's nest of that size doesn't happen overnight. Staff is okay, generally friendly, but spends lots of time gossiping and not paying attention to guests. The trading post is overpriced, so best to go to Wei's or Walmart for supplies. We've seriously considered ending our membership because many of the properties are trashy.

The campground is mostly nice, it doesn't have good internet signal, but the reason for the score is mostly due to the condition of some of the permanent sites. The sites look like a junk

This by far is one of the nicest camp ground I have been to in a while . From the time we pulled in to the park the people at the ranger station were nice and super helpful. The camp ground was just what it said a farm with all the animals including the roaming roosters and their girls. I have a 38 foot coach and getting to my site and in and out of it was a dream . The site was spacious and clean when we arrived . Gettysburg is one of my favorite places to go and take in the history I will definitely be staying at this campground every time I visit.

A dump along side the walking trail. The no trespassing sign laying face down in the grass on the lower left.

Spent a week here just recently. For those who posted about the fee for the wifi. The Wifi is now free at the rec hall and game room. Pokemon go players are not forgotten here with 4 poke stops and 2 gyms all at the Rec Hall / sports court and playground area The creek side sites become swamps in heave rain. Luckily we had none but they were still flooded when we checked out the camp sites a few weeks in advance. Full hook up sites are no longer first come first serve. This is the only Thousand trails that I know of that does this. No drinking fountains. I have never seen a campground that did not have a drinking fountain. This includes state / county parks. The pool area is exposed to the sun all day with only 4 or 5 tables with umbrellas. The pool side concrete can gets so hot you can cook the skin off your feet. This is not a issue at other pools I have visited with exposed concrete not conducting anywhere near as much heat as this one does. Deep end of the pool does not show correct depth labeled as 5 feet deep when is actually 6 feet in depth with 5 feet being at the very edge only. Drains at the deep end also have strange humps on them that feel like your are standing on Lego bricks when you put your feet down. The walking trail is just around the campground on the roads. The only off road section goes through a corn field. The only thin I disliked about this trail was the huge garbage dump along the side of it at one point. And the no trespassing sign I found laying face down along the trail side and just looked like another piece of trash. So the dump are a was not even legally posted. People can enter and the legal actions posted on the sign cannot be enforced. 2 14 cent bolts should have been used to hold the sign to the pole and not just duct tape. Or even better The parks "TRASH" should not be dumped on the "WALKING TRAIL" Not enough trash / recycling cans. they are all taped up and signs stating not to add for 2 full days before they are emptied. Just adding 1 additional trash pickup day will solve this. Bathhouse up on the hill from creek side men's room is missing a toilet with the pipe leading to the septic system open to the air then duct tape was added to stop smell. Small panel on the wall with exposed wiring. BUT The complete building is scheduled to be completely replaced for the 2020 season.

Been here almost a week now. Really a nice RV park. We come in under Thousand Trails membership. The people here are very nice and informative. The park is well kept, however the tree limbs overhanging the roads do need to be trimmed. Most RV sites are spacious.

This campground has had new owners since October 2021. It is no longer Conewago Isle Campground…read more The new name is Campground Island. The owners were extremely friendly, nice, helpful, energetic, and excited to be traveling on their new adventure. They only started re-constructing this campground in November of 2021. They have a lot to do. Most of the sites are still grass. The owners plan on creating gravel pads for all sites. There's a fair amount of muddy areas due to new construction and drainage issues which I'm sure the owners will address. All the sites have a good amount of space between them. Our site was one of the most level sites I've ever parked on. It is a pull through buddy site. The owner said that he just dumped and spread the stone the morning we checked in. The softness of the stone showed it was very new. It could benefit from a nice heavy machine running over it a few times. The bathhouse/showers were really nice and clean. The rec hall was nice. Once again, these are works-in-progress and the rough edges showed a little bit. There is no store or office. Currently, the only way to book a night is online. This is a problem when there is no wi-fi and your phone service has only two bars and you have to go online to find the number. This campground has great potential! My wife and I will be going back. The problems I listed above are growing pains. They can't fix everything in one day and overnight. It will be fun watching this campground grow and mature.

We have two little kids and they loved the playground, outdoor ping pong table and outdoor movie night! They handed out free popcorn and even had a piñata the next day in celebration of cinco de mayo! The coffee and ice cream in the market were both delicious and the staff was very friendly. The rec room had great games and a craft center for the kids which was great since we did get a lot of rain on day 2. Overall a great experience and we will definitely be back- the website gives a great rundown on themed weekends. Almost forgot one of the most important parts- the bathrooms were so clean and accommodating! Little things that you may have forgotten were stocked for you in the ladies bathroom.

I just happened to walk into the grounds a week or two ago and finally got a good look at them. I have been through here many times while on the Metro Bus and only get a glimpse. It is well used and not just in the warm months. There are always people here throughout the year. As expected, during the warmer months this place is packed. With the amount of things on property to do during those months, I can see why. There is minigolf, playgrounds, spray playground, and tons of walking trails. I also see the horse crossing signs along the road and trails through the area, so be aware of that. The only downside to this place, and it is of no fault to the owners, is the amount of traffic that passes by and may cause a bit of a hectic situation when it comes to entering and exiting. They have widened the road in front of the entrance to allow for a turning lane and an entrance lane to the road, but a lot of the people traveling the road seem to not understand that. I don't see the road widening any further until the brides that cross over I-495 are replaced and widened themselves.

It is really a park for tourists and families with kids. They have a rental ballroom which had non-campers racing through the park. The little train/tactor ride around the park stopped in front of our site beeping the train horn with people yelling as we were trying to cook. I don't need to be on someone elses vaction. They also allow golf carts with sound and light systems to race around the park blasting music and yelling. It was a different RV experience than we expected. Not a real RV or camping spot, but probably great for families on summer break.

Definitely our best KOA stay! Our family of four, plus our Boston Terrier, stayed in a two room camping cabin. It was great because my husband and I had our own room and space, and our boys (10 and almost 12) had their own too. It was SWELTERING hot this week, but thankfully our cabin had an AC in the back room and ceiling fans in both rooms, which kept us nice and cool. It also had a decent sized mini fridge, which allowed us to eat at the cabin a majority of meals and cut down on food cost. It's an absolutely beautiful location outside of downtown Gettysburg. Our cabin was secluded and situated at the end of a path, so even though we had neighbors, no one was walking by/through our site at all (which can be really frustrating when you're crammed like sardines at other campgrounds). At night we'd sit by our campfire and watch the fireflies. I've never seen so many in my life; The trees around our site looked like they were twinkling with lights every night. I brought our dog for a walk early one morning and even saw a deer in one of the empty camper sites. It couldn't have been more than 20 feet from me, eating from one of the bushes. Just an overall gorgeous and serene place. Our boys also had a fantastic time. There was so much for them to do! They did a magic workshop and saw a magic show, did movie and popcorn nights at the pavilion, listened to Civil War ghost stories, swam, played mini golf/shuffleboard, mined for gems, rode the funky bikes, jumped on the jump pad, played on the playground, played jumbo chess/jenga/connect 4, made some great friends, and the list goes on... Because it is a fairly small and quiet campground, we felt safe letting them walk to and from these activities. It allowed us to give them more independence and trust, which we all enjoyed. We've been at campgrounds where there were adults up partying, being loud/drunk, blasting music into the wee hours of morning. To our relief, this KOA had none of that! It was very family friendly. But above all else, the entire staff was so warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived. We were always greeted with a smile and friendliness. This is a perfect example of what a KOA should be!! Our family was very sad to be packing up and leaving today, but I have no doubt that we will be back in the near future. Thank you all for making our week in Gettysburg so wonderful! :)
