Wifey and I purchased Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights Pro and found John E B Good Handyman had…read moreseveral good reviews on Yelp. He responded quickly and communicated well. He gave me an up-front estimate, which seemed fair. He asked for a 50% deposit, which (based on past reviews) also seemed fair. The first workday, he arrived then left because of weather: it was a bit misty but not actively raining. Each day, he arrived at around 11 am. I told him up front that our HOA is very strict and that the lights must be professionally installed. Halfway through, there were cords dangling making it appear unsightly. I told him again that we want all cords hidden. At the end of it all, there were still cords dangling in several places, easily visible a casual observer. Additionally, while Govee recommends their lights be 2 to 4 inches from the wall, he installed them at least 10 inches from the wall, making for a muted and dimmed light show. In the end, we were very disappointed and had to hire a second contractor to uninstall his work and then reinstall the lights correctly. If you need Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights installed, look elsewhere. I cannot speak to any other work he John does.

John and his employee arrived on time and were prepared to do the job of instaling my doggie door…read more They honored the amount quoted for the job, even though it turned out my door was metal instead of wood or plastic. This added significantly to their time. I had a good time visiting with them, and we laughed about our goofy dogs. They cleaned up their mess and were respectful of my property while here. I do not hesitate to recommend John. I have two happy little dogs who have already figured out how to use the door!

Do not hire this contractor if you value your time, money, or sanity…read more The work quality itself seemed fine, but that's where the good news ends. We had a signed contract for $3,300 in labor to complete a full bathroom remodel in two weeks, with a $50/day penalty for delays and clear availability windows (no Sundays). Before the ink was even dry, he demanded the first payment of $1,100 -- directly contradicting the payment schedule we both signed. His excuse was that he was tired and hadn't read the contract. He then threatened to walk if I didn't pay immediately, so I did. Work progressed okay until it came time to tile. His sub was unavailable for several days with no updates. When he finally got back to me, he said his tile guy could come Saturday and finish Sunday -- a day I explicitly excluded in our contract. After I pointed that out: complete silence. No response to calls or texts. He simply vanished, leaving me with a half-finished bathroom and $1,100 out of pocket, with no explanation of what that payment actually covered. He decided on his own what portion of the work justified that payment and walked away without a word. This is not someone who honors agreements. If you're considering hiring him, make sure you're okay with the possibility of being left with an unfinished job and no recourse.

I needed some quick help with the project and Mitch responded within the hour. I couldn't be more…read morepleased. He's very professional. My experience throughout life is that if you need something done try to find someone from the West Coast. They're just more intelligent.
