Not only did Mike get my oil changed he also wouldn't let my go with doing a full diagnostic to figure out it ran hot in the first place. He texted me and printed what repairs were needed. My H3 needed 6 quarts of oil, he only charged me for 5. ...without doing.... These guys made sure I was safe and understood what was happening to my vehicle and what could happen if tje issues are repaired. First on brake pads and rotors and next on a cracked brushing arm (or something like that). I've never spent money on a Subaru like that in my life of driving Subarus. I wish I had checked reviews here and gotten second opinions given some folks in the reviews got similar diagnostics from them, got second opinions, and the second opinions said no need for such repairs. But when you're getting the car serviced prior to road trip, you feel somewhat over a barrel and worried about not getting the repair and don't have time to go elsewhere. Anyway, then I start getting warning lights for tire pressure (never happens except in winter as long as I have regular service). I was worried there was a leak. No, they were all low as though no one checked them when serviced. Then wiper fluid light which I've never had before as long as it's serviced regularly - again as though no one topped it off during recent service. Finally I go to another mechanic for an oil change who said the oil looked neglected and suggested I get it changed more often. I just went in for an oil change at Nielsen's three months ago. So I'm pretty suspicious of the expensive repairs (suggest reading other reviews on this). But feel sure they were not doing the routine maintenance I was bringing it in for while charging me thousands for expensive repairs.

I initially thought it might just be an aging coolant issue, but I didn't want to keep driving it and risk turning a cooling-system problem into an engine problem. Their technicians inspected the heating and coolant system rather than simply topping off the reservoir and sending me home. They found that the coolant level was low and traced the issue to a leak that needed attention. They also checked the hoses and other components of the cooling system and explained what they found before doing the repair. I appreciated that because I wanted to understand why the temperature had been fluctuating instead of just being handed a repair bill. While they had the vehicle, they also checked the heater operation because I'd noticed that the cabin heat wasn't getting as warm as it normally did. The technician explained how the coolant system affects both engine temperature and the vehicle's heating system, which helped everything make much more sense. After the repair and coolant service, the temperature gauge stayed exactly where it should during both stop-and-go D.C. traffic and longer drives. The heater also returned to normal operation. I love that they didn't immediately recommend replacing expensive parts. They inspected the system, identified the actual problem, explained the repair, and then verified that everything was operating properly afterward. That's exactly the kind of approach I want from an auto repair shop. Plus, everyone was professional throughout the visit, and the technicians clearly knew what they were doing - very reassuring!

Form the moment I talked to Chris and the staff, though, I felt completely at ease. They diagnosed a bad ignition coil, gave me a staightforward estimate, and didn't pressure me into adding any unnecessary fixes. They knocked out the repair the very same day, and my car has been running perfectly since. It's tough finding a trustworthy mechanic in DC, but these guys are the real deal.

I was understandably concerned because coolant was pouring out from underneath the vehicle. T.J. (the lead mechanic) charged me $168 for a diagnosis and told me that the water pump had failed. I was specifically told that the cooling system had been pressure-tested and that the water pump was the source of the leak. Based on that diagnosis, I was advised not to drive the car and ultimately had to arrange for the vehicle to be transported to Audi. Audi Annapolis subsequently inspected the vehicle and determined that the water pump was not the problem. The actual failure was a faulty pressure-release valve in the coolant reservoir cap -- a $33 part. The Audi technician showed me a video of the faulty cap and the subsequent pressure test demonstrating that the system held pressure after the cap was replaced. The car has been running perfectly since. The incorrect diagnosis cost me not only the $168 diagnostic fee, but also roughly another $400 in towing, transportation, and additional diagnostic/repair costs that would not have been necessary had the problem been correctly identified in the first place. Mistakes happen, but telling a customer that a component has been identified through a pressure test when it turns out not to be the source of the leak is a serious concern. I would have been much more understanding if I had simply been told that the water pump was a suspicion rather than a confirmed diagnosis. $33 cap. $168 diagnosis. $400+ additional expense. I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion before authorizing any significant repair based on a diagnosis from this shop.

Drove it in, the service manager Wally was really nice, he identified and located the replacement tire right away. He gave me a quote clearly laying out the charges, and promised next day turnaround. True to his word, was ready in under 24 hours. I was due for an oil change and asked them to add that and they did no problem. Pickup was super easy- the final price charged matched the quote and it took less than 10 minutes to settle up. Price was good. I'll be back for oil changes and would trust them with repair work if i need in the future. Many thanks to the team for making a bad day better.

UPDATE (November 2026): From a Glowing Review to Two Damaged Hoods…read more I originally wrote this glowing review when this business operated under the name Smoke Detail Hand Carwash. At the time, I was genuinely impressed with the service, affordability, and attention to detail. Unfortunately, after more than a year of patronizing this establishment, now operating as Auto & Tire Master Car Wash, I'm updating my review to reflect two extremely disappointing experiences. In February 2026, I discovered a deep scratch on the hood of my vehicle following a car wash. I immediately brought it to an employee's attention and asked if he could remove it, but the scratch was too deep. Rather than make an issue of it, I gave the business the benefit of the doubt and paid out of pocket to have the damage professionally repaired. Fast-forward to October 27, 2026, and here we are AGAIN. Another scratch on my hood, in almost the exact same location! TWICE. SAME BUSINESS. SAME AREA OF MY HOOD. I take pride in maintaining my vehicle, and the last thing I expect after paying for a car wash is to leave with damage that requires professional repair. What makes this particularly frustrating is that I've continued supporting this business, even after the first incident, because I genuinely appreciated their service. I've spent several days trying to locate management's contact information to address this latest incident directly. I'm now formally requesting that the business take responsibility for the damage and cover the cost of repairs. I'm including photos of both scratches because I believe customers deserve to know about my experience. While I previously praised this business for its thorough cleaning, friendly employees, and affordable pricing, none of those things matter if your vehicle leaves with damage. I don't enjoy updating a positive review to a negative one, especially for a neighborhood business I've supported for over a year. But loyalty should go both ways, and I simply cannot overlook having my vehicle scratched twice. I hope management takes this seriously and makes things right. Until then, I can no longer recommend this establishment.
