They tell you "don't hesitate to reach out" but never responded to an of the 20 fuckin emails I sent requesting someone call me immediately to resolve my issue fucked me on my refund and refuse to talk to me on the phone sending me bullshit invoices that clearly say I PAID and was not refunded for an amount and rental that is COMPLETELY unrelated I hate this fuckin company and I hope they never make another fuckin dime!!!! read more

I rented a car from Getaround, and received a car that had been recalled with the issue never being resolved. The issue, which was related to easy theft of the car, resulted in the car BEING STOLEN almost immediately after I first retrieved and parked the car. Not only did I not get to use the car for the duration of the rental, when I informed Getaround they told me that I WAS RESPONSIBLE TO RETRIEVE THE CAR FROM THE THIEVES (they have tracking and disabling devices on their vehicles), and then THEY CHARED ME FOR THE RENTAL, A "CLAIMS FEE" OF $100, AND AN REPAIR FEE OF $500!!! I've never received worse service. They have hung up on me and ignored emails and messages sent through the app, proceeding to charge me without my permission. If a car is recalled for any safety reason (imagine if it had been the brakes and I had been in an accident as a result of the disregarded recall!), it should not be rented to unsuspecting customers. I'm an owner of two vehicles on GetAround. One was my personal vehicle, the other I bought explicitly to rent on GetAround and Turo. In two months, with about 30 rentals, 3 renters have failed to return my vehicles. One time was an easy 10 minute uber and the car was clean and the key was inside, so that wasn't worrisome and I got a second vehicle. Next, a guest let their friend drive the car. That friend left trash all over the vehicle and smoked in the vehicle, and then failed to return the vehicle because they said they didn't know where to take it (It goes back to where you pick it up every time). Chasing this car down involved calling two police departments, going to the detail shop for an hour, and probably close to a dozen calls to GetAround, and then ubering to where they left the car unlocked, windows open, with the key on the seat in plain view. The fact that this renter was allowed on the platform is egregious. The third was the worst though. My car was driven from Denver to Arizona. They guest contacted me an hour before the rental ended saying they wouldn't have it back in time for the subsequent rental that another person had pre-booked. GetAround towed the car to a lot after disabling the car, which is where it has been for about 4 days racking up $45/day in lot fees. I only found this out by matching the GPS to an address and then calling around. You can schedule a car hauling company online in minutes, but their team can't seem to handle this. In the mean time, I do not know the condition of the vehicle, when it will be back, they have caused me to have to cancel multiple future reservations, and lastly they are costing me $50-100/day in revenue. They have no phone number for their Trust and Safety Team, and that team only responds to emails every few days. Additionally, they have no monitoring of where vehicles on their platform are, so you have no way of knowing if a vehicle is being used for errands or is on its way to another state. I will be adding GPS trackers to my vehicles going forward, but more than anything, I would appreciate if GetAround would stop marketing to deadbeats, would offer proper service to vehicle owners, get working phone numbers, and stop trying to sell themselves as a useful service provider to development companies like mine. I'm glad I tested them out first before we signed a long-term contract worth $100,000s. We'll take their legal documents and give them to Turo instead. read more

DO NOT DO IT!!!!! The car I rented broke down and I was an hour away so the agent at Getaround told me it would be $600 if they had to tow it. So I used my AAA and since I was an hour away I had to obviously wait which led to me having to extend my trip multiple times. The rep at Getaround told me once I dropped the car off at the location I'd be able to end the trip and file a claim to get a refund on some of my money for all the extended time. That was a HUGE LIE! After a month of dealing with the "claims department", which was just an email that I could never get anyone on the phone, I realized that I was never going to get any of my money back. The rental ended up costing me over $250 instead of the $52 that the trip should've cost. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! read more

My vehicle was sideswiped (hit and run) by a person using a Getaround vehicle in February 2020. I followed the car to get the plate and called the police to make a report. I worked with Getaround to though they never worked with me. It's June 17th 2020 and my vehicle is still damaged. I have multiple emails in to Getaround with NO REPLY! Getaround has no working phone number to contact anyone. I will continue to write bad reviews until Getaround contacts me to get this resolved. There's no where I can find to DM them. They don't reply and won't reply. No where to reach them anywhere. read more

Tried to use this service on two separate occasions and both started and ended in disaster. The cars were a mess, the dash was lit up like a Christmas tree, and both cars absolutely reeked of weed despite being nonsmoking vehicles. No maintenance is ever done on these cars and the owners just let them be run to the ground. The last car that I had rented had a screw in the tire that I had to pay to get replaced because I "didn't document it thoroughly enough during the initial inspection." The only reason that we didn't notice when we took off was that every single tire had low tire pressure and there were a dozen other issues shown on the dash. Not to mention, this wasn't even the car we rented. I was called less than an hour before the rental and informed that the original car isn't available anymore. Literally in the airport about to leave to pick up the car. The customer support was awful, unhelpful, and straight up rude through the whole process. Instead of giving an upgrade or some compensation, I ended up with a worse car and having to pay $200 for a new tire. Same goes for when I tried to pick up and drop off the car. After finding out the neighborhood needed a gate code, I tried to reach out to the owner with no luck so I called their support who basically just called me a liar and said no code was needed while I sat in front of the gate in my Uber. Worst company I have EVER had the displeasure of dealing with. They should be shut down. read more

I rented a car for a 2-day period in the Denver, Co area. I went to their service because commercial rental car rates were astronomical, and it looked like I could get a better deal with Getaround. Well, their app screwed up my reservation and said my trip "ended" after 13 hours. This occurred while I was far away from the drop-off location. After calling them and letting them know they had screwed up my reservation, and there was no way I could be back by the time they demanded, they finally extended it. (Shouldn't have been any need, based on the original reservation.) Then I was charged exorbitant "late fees" on top of the original charges. In the end, it would have been cheaper and a far better experience had I gone with a commercial car rental company. I will never use this company again. read more

I work from home and drive less than 4,000 miles a year. I rent a new car every 2 to 3 years and thought, I'm make a few extra dollars and meet some fun people - NOT. My car was BADLY wrecked. I'll be posting pictures soon, including the bongs and blood filled syringes from people shooting up in my car. Post wreck, I was treated as a criminal although it was my car the criminals were using. Getaround finally towed my car to a repair shop although I was NOT allowed to know what repair shop or speak with the repair team - MY CAR, not getaround's. The car was never the same and issue after issue impacted our family. I had to pay almost $5,000 when the car was traded in for a new lease. Getaround calls a wrecked car, when we know drugs were used, massive damage was done and the entire car was not repaired, DEPRECIATION. CarFax and the car dealer and the buyer feel differently. Now, I'm paying legal fees to go after them - Unless you have $ to burn, DO NOT place a car on Getaround. read more

Getaround does not vet their riders. I was an owner for over a year on the platform until a renter used my car to commit a crime and now my car is impounded and has been impounded for the past month. I had to advocate for two weeks to get getaround to compensate me for not having a car for 30 days. They reimbursed me 25 dollars a day for a month and I will now have to fight again for them to reimburse me for another month. They take good care of the renters and owners until something goes badly. Their customer support people have been nice and have been calling the detectives working on the case and trying to advocate for me but the bottom line is I don't have a car for going on a month. And if it goes on another month I will have to Fight again for another months reimbursement. It is very sad that I have to advocate for that for myself when this is obviously their fault for not vetting their renters properly. I cannot imagine the lack of support that I would get if my car was totaled. read more

After some difficult experiences using Getaround initially, they eventually corrected my problem and I gave them another chance. They have done much better recently and I felt it was appropriate to edit the review as such. The service is a great idea when things work as they are supposed to; it is a fair value and the flexibility is nice. I will continue using them and hope for no further problems. read more

I am the owner of a car that I share on Getaround. Thus far, I have had an amazing experience with this company. It is so cool to be at work knowing my car is out there making money for me!!! It is also cool knowing I am helping the environment by taking public transport and placing a car out there for others to use making it so that they can get out of owning their own car. It has been great fun providing awesome customer service to renters as well. Getaround gives tremendous support in this endevor!!! Come aboard!! read more
