I ordered Veal Parmesan. It was alright when I added Parmesan cheese I had in the house. It did not come with any. When I ordered it for delivery, I asked if it was ground or a chop more or less as I have found it like that at another restaurant and did not like it unless it was ground up. Let me just say this is solely based on delivery, which was extremely prompt. So I have no idea about the dine in experience or staff. We were staying at the Baymont Inn and the desk staff suggested Gerry's was the only once to get pizza. We had a fantastic bike ride around Rock Cut Park (and got caught in a downpour!). We ordered wings and a meat pizza. The wings only come in Buffalo but they were fantastic! Not too crispy but lots of meat and not too spicy either. The pizza had a crispy, thin crust and just the right amount of toppings and cheese. The sauce is different than I've had before and it was delicious! It's hard to describe but maybe spicy/tangy describes it. Delivery was timely and the delivery person was friendly and came right to the hotel room door. The last 3 times I've ordered from Gerry's I have been severely disappointed. A couple months ago I ordered a steak sandwich. When it was delivered I received a dry loaf of bread split in half with an ungodly amount of burnt onions, steak that was dry and chewy, and cheese that was unmelted. The second time we decided to order pizza and bruschetta. The pizza was great. The bruschetta was basil leaves that were brown, unripe tomatoes, a thimble sized cup of balsamic, and again dry bread. This past time did it for me. Ordered a pizza, they do make good pizza, but not this time. Asked for green peppers on it and the stem of the pepper that you'd cut out and toss was the first thing I saw after I opened the box. On top of that, I ordered anchovies. I ate one and i went back for another when I saw mold all over the next one in the cup. Also, 2 of these orders were pickup, yet both times the person on the phone took my name and phone number wrong. I had to watch them search high and low for my food when all they had to do was ask what I ordered. I've frequented Gerry's since 2007 but never again. It's not worth the prices they charge to be disappointed when there are multiple other pizza places in the area. read more

Not sure we will ever order from this place again! Was our first time and disappointed. Our "special salads" were honestly the worst salad we've ever had for the price. Lettuce was soggy and barely any lettuce in the container, my husband didn't even want to finish his. Delivery review--I think the staff there needs to be better versed on their menu...with that being said, I think the pizza is great. I really like their extra thin pizza. We've always gotten exactly what we ordered and it's been good! Very reasonably priced too. We order from them all the time. Make sure you get their punch card too. After a certain amount of pizzas, you'll get a free one. Dine in--wait staff was pleasant. The pizza was good, as always! But I don't recommend the calamari at all. It basically tasted like it was microwaved. Wasn't crispy at all and very bland. Waste of $9. Overall, if you're looking for a good pizza to get delivered I would definitely recommend this place...but not as a cute place that would be worth dining in at. read more

Friend reserved her party for her young son and then received a call a few days later that they were booted because someone else after the fact called and wanted the same day and was going to pay more. My mom and I found ourselves in Rockford on our way back to Saint Paul after a long, arduous one and a half week journey to see a deathly ill family member. Yeah; the times weren't fantastic. This place was right across from the hotel we stayed at and was repeatedly suggested to us as the restaurant we needed to stop at from the guy at the front counter. He said it was family owned and that everything, right down to the dressing, was made completely from scratch. It sounded appealing so we made the two second jaunt in the rain to get there. It was dead that night--maybe three other patrons in the place--and we were seated right away. Our waitress was very on top of things and engaged us in several conversations. Honestly, she's the reason for the third star. We were both chilled to the bone after having driven through icy rain so thick you could barely see for the final three solid hours of our night. We opted for the Italian wedding soup hoping to warm up. It was an immediate disappointment. It was barely lukewarm and I'm so positive that it was Campbell's right from the can (I've eaten that shit in desperation) that I'd bet my left nut on it. I silently labeled the front desk guy at the hotel a sham. A sham-fucking-wow. Both of us decided to get the lasagna. I asked for light sauce since I don't care for the whole 'rectangle in a pool' presentation at most places. Truthfully, the flavor wasn't bad and I've had a lot worse. But the size of it (not the length--the depth of the layers) was comparable to one of those Lean Cuisine lasagnas you grab and heat up only to ultimately find yourself weeping in a corner once you see how sad and flat it looks. It had little more than a ricotta mixture stuffing to it. The cheese they used was tasty, though. We both joked that we should've each cut our servings in half and stacked them on top of one another to make it look less depressing. At the end of the night, it was at least hot food. After having survived off of protein bars, hot peanuts and jerky for the previous thirteen hours it was a welcome reprieve. That having been said, I can see how this place thrives amidst all the hotels in the area. I don't think it would be as successful otherwise; I know I, personally, will not be making the same pitfall should I be in town again. read more

Also the cheese/sauce blend is pretty uninspiring and lacks some intangible flavor element that pizza pretty much always has. When's the last time two hungry drunk people ate less than 1/3 of a pizza? Seriously, this place could only survive by delivering to guests of the 5 unsuspecting hotels nearby. Don't fall for it. The best pizza in Rockford, hands down. The stuffed pizza is the way to go. It tastes completely different than all the other crust styles here, I have no idea why. It's probably the best stuffed pizza I've ever had, comparing it to Gino's East, Giordanos, Pizzera Unos. It's not a traditional Chicago Style though. Not a chunky tomato sauce and not the crispy crust around the outside. The thin crust is just average, to slightly above average. The sauce doesn't even taste the same as the stuffed pizza, again, I have no idea why. The buffalo wings are really good. Pretty fatty, not too buffalo tasting though, more of just a traditional hot wing. I always get pickup, so I can't comment on the sit down service. But the place is clearing lacking of an update inside. Cheap tables, chairs, table cloths, etc. I've had any of their other menu items, so I can't comment on those either. But when you have had their stuffed pizza, it's hard to go back and get something better. read more

As a dine in guest, it was pretty sad. I was the only person in the restaurant and they actually were surprised I wasn't there for carry out. Seemed like the phones were busy for pizza delivery and take out. They were really running behind in that as the girl fielded multiple calls complaining about 90 minute wait for pizza delivery. Anyway, by the time I got my food there were 2 other tables filled, so I didn't feel quite so lonely. They made my ravioli order wrong the first time, but quickly returned with the proper order. No big deal. Overall, seems like these guys were good back in the day, but have failed to keep pace with the expectations of today's hungry diners. read more

But I can tell you this, the service was poor, our server acted like she didn't care at all; who took care of us better was the hostess, and that's not her job. So wth? Plus the food took a bit long, and it's not as busy for it to take long. The pizzas were just off from the originals. Like the BBQ pizza it should have red onion and cilantro with red bell peppers. We went for an early dinner at Gerry's pizza. It wasn't very crowded which was just fine. I was a little apprehensive about this place because it was so dead inside. The waitress said they had Stella on tap which completely changed my mood. It came in a very frosty 24 ounce glass. Thumbs up. One of is ordered the salmon because we have a salmon lover in the family. The waitress admitted that it's frozen, but the boss eats it all the time. She said the pizzas including the sauce and dough was made fresh. My son ordered kids spaghetti and meatball. So, the food came and it all looked really good. The salmon smelled good and my daughter loved it. The kids spaghetti plate and meatball was huge and looked really good. My son enjoyed every last bite. The pizza was very good. It was cut in squares with good cheese and pepperoni. The crust could have been a little crispier, but we enjoyed it overall. We had a very nice dinner. The atmosphere of the restaurant is so so, but I realized it's what you make of it that counts. Maybe next time I would do take out and bring it back to the hotel. read more
