The Authentic look of this Restaurant is enough to bring a smile to your face as you walk throughout the Restaurant, We arrived a half hour before closing and not only did they serve us my, but they let us stay a extra half hour to enjoy our meal. We personally got the Deep dish pizza, and it tasted as good as chicago authentic deep dish. It was a Saturday night, we were hungry and were feeling Italian. She recommended we try Maciano's after our first choice had over an hour wait. When we arrived there were people waiting for their take-out orders and others in the dining room. The hostess greeted and sat us quickly. Maciano's is in a small strip mall that at the time of this posting also hosts a Gym, Hair Salon, Tax preparer, and a Bar. For the size of the strip mall there is adequate parking. The interior of the restaurant has that typical 2010's; Brick and neutral colored painted walls. Semi-private booths and open tables. The lighting was bright enough to see, but dim enough to not be glaring. Our server was amazing. I can't remember his name, but he was a great guy. He joked around with us, and went out of his way to double check on some of our questions he wasn't entirely sure about. He was very attentive, but not overly. I wish ever server I had was like this guy. I had the lasagna with the meat sauce, and she had the Gluten Free Penne with meat sauce. I won't say it's the best lasagna I've ever had... because that would be a bold faced lie... but it was good. Great flavor, the pasta was cooked perfectly not too firm, but not overcooked. It was delicious. My girlfriend raved about the sauce on her meal. It was very good. Each meal came with garlic bread. The garlic bread had a good flavor. It was a nice compliment to the lasagna. The prices were fair too. With the portion size they gave we each ended up taking half of our meals home with us as left overs. Overall I was pleased with our experience. I don't know if this is part of a chain or if it's a family that has multiple locations. So I don't know if the other locations have the same qualities and quantities as this one. Solid food but a pretty disappointing dine in experience. A busy Friday night with tons of carry out business had the staff stretched thin. We waited 10 minutes for a welcome/drink order (never got a refill) and another 45 for our pizza and pasta to show up. Kind wait staff, but if there is a next time, we will carry out. Wow, what a find! I stopped by for a quick lunch and stumbled across a really good restaurant. I ordered the Cheesy Beef lunch special. This is basically a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich. The beef was good and the cheese was nicely melted over the beef. The sandwich came with fries. The thing that was special about the meal was what they call "Natural Gravy". This gravy was the best au jus that I have ever had in my life. They should bottle that stuff and sell it in supermarkets across America! OMG! Melissa, my server, was very nice and attentive. I ordered delivery two times on one week - I don't do that very often. I had angel hair pasta with marinera and meat balls. Plus a Caesar salad. The salad was good - I like all Caesar salads with Romain lettuce, Caesar dressing, croutons -!: Parmesan cheese. The pasta had a large amount of marinara sauce which was very good and they were great meatballs. Tonight I got a grilled chicken Caesar salad and boneless buffalo wings. Both were great. Tried Maciano's for the first time today for lunch. Ordered a 18" Thin Crust Cheese. Take-out. They charged $22 for my XL, plain cheese pizza. No specials, no discounts, no promo codes. Full-price! Got the pizza pie home, and to my disappointment, it sucked! I was really wanting to love this pizza because I heard good things but it was horrible. No seasoning, no flavor. It was lacking in taste/flavor. Sauce was plain, cheese was plain, crust was nothing special. It was all around a very basic, plain, no flavor, so spices, waste of $22. Most definitely will not ever order from here again! Try it if you must, but consider yourself warned. read more

Went last week because my wife and I wanted some great Italian food - unfortunately, we did not find it here. She had the Italian beef - the sandwich was tasty enough but was pretty skimpy as far as the beef. I had the pasta arrabiata; we could easily have made better at home - the pasta was overcooked and while the sauce had spice, it was almost flavorless otherwise. Finally, in addition to the service being just ok, the music was too loud - when we asked for it to be turned down some (we were the only customers in the house), we were told that the staff was not allowed to touch the volume. My family love the pizza and order delivery all the time. I have a dairy allergy and there are a lot of great options on their menu or they will be more than willing to take it off the pizza. And they are never skimpy with their pizza toppings. From the menu our favorite dish is by far the make your own pasta. And save room for dessert!! We have been eating here for the last 15 years or so. They no longer serve coffee which is absolutely ridiculous because they serve desserts which coffee goes great with. And their coffee was actually really good. Their food quality has gone down tremendously. Their chopped salad had no taste, you can't taste the cheese, heck you can barely see it. The dressing is watery, the spicy breaded chicken wasn't spicy. The calamari was chewy and the coating was falling apart. No fresh garlic on the bruschetta anymore. So disappointed. We don't think we will be returning which is sad because we came as a family on occasions and as a couple on weekdays. read more

I'm from Chicago and only recently moved to Rockford. I miss my local pizza place which is incomparable- but Maciano's is an excellent choice for the area for pizza. I've tried a few other local restaurants, but hands down Maciano's makes the best pizza around here that I've tried so far. I placed an order for delivery for a work luncheon, per Director's request. I had 2 separate orders being delivered to the same address. Order 1: 1 large cheese pizza, 1 large sausage & pepperoni pizza and an order of breadsticks. Order 2: Cheesy beef sandwich & fries They charge $8 delivery fee and wanted me to include the drivers tip with the transaction instead of tipping when delivered. (New to me, I have always tipped at the end of service, not beforehand). I asked, how much does the delivery driver get from the $8 delivery fee; manager states they get none of it, so I had her add $8 tip for the driver. This is the kicker, she was going to charge me another $8 delivery fee for the 2nd order on top of the $16 for the 1st order going to the exact same address! HUH??? Crystal / manager was matter of fact and didn't seem to care or entertain the idea that she lost future business. Please watch out for these locally owned businesses that feel they can rob you, just because they feel they can. Everyone is feeling the inflation, not just Maciano's. I will be sharing this experience with everyone I know and letting them know there's better locally owned businesses that have better customer service and prices.
