Traditional hand tossed pepperoni pizza is my "go to" at Anna Marias. Where the cheese alone weighs more than an entire Papa John's or Dominos pizza (including the dough)! Every 3 or 4 weeks my son and I enjoy a pizza together and when he gets older, it will be a tradition he'll look back on and hopefully have happy thoughts...just as I do reminiscing of when my dad took our family to Sam's in Rockton. I love how Hispanic and Italian families are so closely knit and prioritize "family" above all else. Lots of love! When going in for carry out, the young fella is friendly as can be and comes across as genuine, probably a family member of the ownership. I love the smell inside of these places, very nostalgic.

(actually like old Cicero neighborhood - real Italians) Only downfall is they do NOT have a big Menu to choose from. They should be making Ravioli, Lasagna, etc. If they are as good with those dishes, as they are with the pizzas, they would have a non-stop crowd. Noticed a lot of people picking up pizzas to go. That is their forte - their Pick-up service. They need to expand the Menu. Many people would go for other Italian dishes. We would.

A great balance of fresh toppings, with flavors that complement each other, and a generous amount of smooth, creamy mozzarella! The restaurant is under new management, and the menu has been expanded. I'm looking forward to trying their great variety! The new owner is friendly and very accommodating. I like my thin crust pizza with a pie cut instead of squares. I experienced problems with the payout system and my card, which I hope he gets straightened out, but he did tell me I could order online, have the food delivered, and still pay the driver at the door (they carry card readers). That would save me the hassle of having to go pick up my orders in order to pay in the store. He said I could also order on the phone and pay that way. I look forward to visiting my friend's house up in Rockford more often so I can explore their diverse and ambitious new menu!

We tried it a few weeks ago for the first time and my husband and son swear that this is the best pizza in town!! We went back again last night and had the same results! First time I had the Italian beef and it was flavorful and juicy but the bread... it was crusty and flaky on the outside and fluffy yet dense on the inside. The absolute perfect bread for a juicy sandwich. We also had the lasagna(which I believe is only available on the weekends) and it was fantastic as well. His Grandma's sauce is splendid('Mamma Gulotta's' sold at Woodman's). To top it all off, Nick Gulotta; the owner, chef, order taker, carry out worker(he does it all himself!!!), is just about the nicest person I have ever met. I know some very kind/caring people, but Nick takes the cake. I just can't believe how long it's taken us to try it but am so glad we finally did! Thank you, Nick!! Lasagna is first on my list of things to try at a new (to me) place. This place ended my search for fantastic lasagna in Rockford~this is The One! The sauce is fantastic, tastes like several cheeses and it's baked right in the aluminum to-go container. And it's huge! Delish AND very reasonable priced! SCORE! I'm also picky about house salads. So many places don't give a crap~they tear up iceberg lettuce (ugh... Zero appeal in my book, not to mention zero nutritional-value), throw on some unripened tomatoes and carrots. But when you open the Primo's salad container, ciao bella! The colors instantly delight! Beautiful, fresh garden greens, scrumptious ripened tomatoes that taste like they were just picked, and whatever else is in there, it's going to be enjoyed, even if by itself! Next, the pizza test. This, from a male companion, who is also a self-described pizza critic, won him over and I, too, thought it was very good! Again with the sauce and cheese~Primo!! Thanks Primo's!
