Wonderful place! Im thrilled to hear Germans speaking their native tongue here. Ok first let me start off by saying that they have a nice selection of German imports; sauerkraut, pickles, cookies & treats, oils, etc. I have not bought any cheeses, but I may have to next time I visit because their sausages are good quality & very tasty. I bring these sausages to the family cookouts and they love it! I know most people aren't a fan of "offal" meats but the liverwurst is my favorite item here which they have a couple varieties of liverwurst. I try to go here every time I'm in the Phoenix area for authentic Leberwurst and Teewurst. It's convenient to the airport, so I'll head there last-thing before dashing to catch my flight. I've been known to take a small, soft sided cooler to keep this very perishable delicacy fresh. (To keep things cold, you can toss in a bag of frozen peas as I have, or better yet some frozen water bottles since frozen water is fine with the TSA.) They have recently begun accepting credit cards, which makes it easier as there's no need to hit an ATM. Lines tend to be long, but it's worth the wait. read more

We have been looking for an authentic German butcher shop for years. Our search immediately ended when we found this gem. The German Sausage Co. is the closest you can get to a local German butcher shop outside of Germany. I can say this because my boyfriend was born and raised in the Black Forest in Germany (#Schramberg) so he knows. When you walk in you are immediately greeted by the smoky flavors of Black Forest ham, Landjaeger and Salami that fill the air. That is when you know you've come to the right place. It's truly a meat lover's paradise. The owner is a master butcher from Germany. This is immediately evident as the framed Master Certificate is proudly displayed on a wall in their shop.  They have a great selection of cold cuts, sausages, cheeses, specialty condiments and German pantry staples and sweets including pastries and cakes.  Our typical order includes Lyoner, Gelbwurst, Hungarian and Paprika Salami, Bratwurst, Bockwurst (a Hotdog on steroids), Landjaeger, Dill Havarti cheese and Fleischsalat (baloney, pickle and mayonnaise).  The thinly sliced Black Forest ham (creatively termed "Bauernschinken" ) can't be missed, you won't find better even in the Black Forest.  Don't forget to grab a jar of Hendlmaier mustard, it puts honey mustard to shame and goes well with a Bavarian white sausage, which of course they also offer.  Give this place a try the next time you are looking for some cold cuts, sandwich meat or cheeses. I asked to try tbe cooked ham and she said I tried it last time I eas there which is mot true at all. She looked at me like i am trying to get something for free. I told her i did not try it before and she argued weth me. I said this is ruge and she told me to leave the store. Up until this point I was a loyal customer. October 16, 2019. This place is the real deal for authentic German cold cuts and smoked meats, and the prices are incredible. I stopped in here for the first time to get some natural casing smoked and linked weiners. Most of the items are labeled in German but the owners answered all my questions so patiently. When I was very young (7) I lived behind a German butcher shop in Columbus Ohio. I woke up each day to that wonderful smoke filling the air for the meat. The moment I walked in those memories all came back in vivid detail. I wanted to try a large assortment of meats so I asked for a pound of quite a few of them. I bought some Tiroler, lyoner, onion liver sausage, gelbwurst, roasted pork, mettwurst, liver wurst, apple streusel, bockwurst, jagdwurst, and several other meats. I had one of the wieners on the way home, even cold it was heavenly. The peach quark was so good. Absolutely perfectly balanced in sweetness. The customer service was truly amazing. The owners mentioned they also smoke meats for customers upon request usually turkeys for the holidays. I asked if they had pork jowl bacon and they didn't. But the owner said if I wanted some he would buy the meat for it and make as much as I want if I give them notice ahead of time. Now that is freaking service right there! Das ist gut! If you want some of the best sausages you'll find in Arizona, you need to go to this shop. After picking up my knives from Phoenix Knife House across the street, I spied the German Sausage Company and thought, what better way to celebrate having a wicked sharp knife again than to get a few sausages for dinner? Sausages and knives, it brings out the primal beast in us all! The shop itself is well organized and holds not only cured meat, but jarred condiments, crackers, cookies, all German brands. Off to the far side of the case there were two trays of delectable bienenstich for sale. I couldn't resist and got a piece for $2.40. I looked at all the freshly made sausages and cured slabs o'meat and had a hard time deciding what to get, it all looked so good! I asked the lovely ladies at the counter, "So what's something I can only get at this shop that I won't be able to get at another place that sells sausages?" Both replied, "Everything!" Looking at the sausage selection, I decided to get the curry bratwurst, debreziner, and weisswurst sausages, 1/2 pound of each. For your reference each sausage is about 1/4 lbs. The sausages are all fully cooked so they just need that extra finishing touch to warm them up. Also note that there are no preservatives in the sausages so use them up as soon as you can. I grilled the curry bratwurst and debreziner and boiled the weisswurst. Each sausage had a distinct flavor and were superb. The debreziner had a deep smoky flavor with a slightly thicker tasting casing that allowed for a good "snap" when you bit into it. The meat itself was perfectly seasoned, and very tender. The curry bratwurst looked more pale than I'm used to seeing in bratwurst sausages, and tasted more delicate. It had a hint of curry that could easily be overpowered if you ate it with a strong tasting condiment. The weisswurst was the most delicate tasting of the bunch, and paired wonderfully flavor-wise with some sweet hot mustard I had in the house. The traditional way to eat these sausages is to boil them over simmering heat, then removing the casing. The bienenstich was a layered bit of German bliss. The cake was a perfect density, with custardy cream and toasted shaved almonds on top. I loved the combination of textures and flavors. Service was very sweet and friendly. Note that they are cash or check only though so be prepared. I'll be back for sure! read more

Ich liebe Deutsch Wurst. This is the best Authentic German Sausage you can get in Arizona. Family owned and operated. Inside is always clean and tidy with everything meticulously displayed so you cannot resist getting more than you should. Everyone here also speaks German as well as most of the customers. Brings back memories of hearing my Grandma talking to her friends and family when I was a little kid. The quality and consistency of their sausage, lunch meats, cheeses, and other fine German products is exceptionable. I have been here too many times to count and have not left yet without buying a little bit of everything and more. It is hard to stop. Yummy. Today I picked up some Bratwurst, Smoked Landjäger, Sliced Cervelat, Bierschinken, Head Cheese (the vinegary one), some Fine Ground Calve Liverwurst, and a little Stuff Pork. Had to also get some real Imported SWISS Cheese, some Spicy German Mustard and a loaf of Rye. Don't forget some Imported German Unsalted Butter to spread on your bread. The smell of this place when you first walk in the door is heavenly. The essence of smoked meat and charcuterie permeates the interior. Reminds me of the smell of the meat section on the sixth floor of KaDeWe (Kaufhaus des Westens) in Berlin. They offer quite a selection of house-made sausage and specialties here. It all looked a bit pricey, so I have not sampled their wursts yet. I have, however, done some great stocking stuffer shopping here--they have a good selection of German grocery items. I was thrilled to find their display of Kinder Schokolade-Überraschungseier (chidren's chocolate surprise eggs). Everybody (including adults) appreciates the complexity of the prizes you find inside these eggs. Maybe it's because of superior German engineering, but Cracker Jack ought to be ashamed of the prizes they offer when compared to these! The eggs were pricey though... $2.50 a pop (but worth it for the novelty). I also found myself impulse shopping for German candy Ahoj-Brause (basically fizzing pixie stick dust), mustard-in-a-tube, and Knorr seasonings. With all my Christmas stocking stuffer needs met, I was lucky to get out the door without buying too much more. I'll be back (à la Schwarzenegger) to try the wurst here.
