    Turkey and ham club

Our regular butcher is in Wickenburg but we needed some beef and didn't have time to make the drive out so we searched up and ended up at Hobe. Parking wasn't an issue and we were immediately welcomed in and helped. They offer fresh beef, chicken, pork, sausages, etc. they have a TON of options! They also have freezers full of specialty items as well. We got a few top sirloin and filet mignon. Prices are great and quality was amazing. While there we saw a deli to the left so we grabbed a few Saturday special cheeseburgers and Turkey sandwich. Everything tasted great and fresh! We were really surprised at the quality of beef as well. Glad we found a local spot to support with so many great offerings and we will be back!

I've been coming here for years. Owners are amazing people they really care about their employees and customers. I came in today to pick up some tenderloin and chickens for mother's day. owner gave me a free burger for being a good long time customer. I really appreciate these small businesses that care. On top of that they have the BEST meat in town. I won't buy chicken or beef at the grocery store - haven't for years thanks to Hobe.

The best sausage I've ever had! Highly recommend the peach habanero! And we got three ribeyes that were DELICIOUS and at such a great price!

    Good selection of "rarer" meats

I went on recommendation from a friend because of their more "rare meat" selection, and I did find some of what I was looking for which was great. In particular I was trying to find pheasant, elk, venison, buffalo and perch, which they all had! Also discovered a few seafood options there too, which was so great. They had a freezer section along the back wall and a whole meats section on the other side. Nice retail space with other items to help you prepare an incredible bbq. Along with charcoals, sauces, woods with flavors.... Really nice. I was greeted upon entering and asked twice if I needed help as I browsed. Not a lot of chatter from the cordial gentleman but I wouldn't have minded hearing anything about the meats, the location, the sourcing. I didn't ask but would love to knowledge. It is connected next door to another business which was cool, you could just walk in over there. All in all I bought some venison, veal, a tuna steak and elk. Was pricey but I expected it for the "rarity" of the meats. I definitely recommend coming here to check it out and see what they've got.

    Smoked brisket

Loved the deli sandwiches. The brisket is so good, just the right amount of fat and Smokey flavor. Loved the combination of brisket, cheese and the onion jam on the dreamy draw sandwich. They do not skimp on the meat. I didn't order anything from the meat counter but I will be back to get some steaks.

Lady recommended elk jerky. I got the elk jerky, bison jerky, and sweet and spicy beef jerky. All are delicious!

Pulled pork sandwich and pasta salad
    Lidia M.

I tried this place for lunch. For $10, I got a pulled pork sandwich, side, and a drink. I thought that was a great deal. The pulled pork sandwich did not have any coleslaw, which I'm used to having on pulled pork sandwiches. It was still very good. I had their pasta salad as my side, which was good. The deli wasn't busy, and I got my food pretty quickly. There is some seating if you want to eat there. I would recommend this place for a quick lunch that's reasonably priced and quick.

Theirs is the hot buttered with chives sprinkled on top and a bag of chips. There were Huge pieces of lobster meat and a lot of it. So much so that pieces fell out while trying to wrap my lips around it. I also bought a pound of Faroe Island Salmon that I'm excited to grill. It was very cool of the Tap Room (next door) to allow me to eat my lunch on their picnic tables outside without ordering a drink. I came after lunch so it wasn't busy. I won't sugar coat it, Nelson's is pricey. The roll was $34. However they have fish that you can't find elsewhere. The ahi tuna was beautiful but I already set my mind to the salmon. I was surprised they even had guanciale (pork jowel) which is sought after in Italian pasta dishes. It's a bit of a drive for me but next time I want a toasted buttery lobster roll I will come to Nelson's!

So, after searching up and down, I stumbled upon Nelson's. I came by for an early lunch. This location is a very small place, really only big enough for a few fridges full of meats/fish, as well as the counter itself. I came in, and I took a little bit to decide what I wanted from the menu, and settled on a shrimp salad sandwich and a half pound of salmon poke. Before, during, and after the ordering process, I feel like the gentleman behind the counter was a little cold and not wanting to talk to me much. It seemed like I was inconveniencing him, so I felt bad about that. For that reason, I didn't really try to make conversation. I hope his day got better! I took the food togo, of course, and I ate the shrimp sandwich first. The seasoning was really great, and the salad was really well balanced. Mayo, onions, chives, cabbage: everything was well-represented and nothing was overbearingly seasoned. Yummy sandwich! The bread was a little drier than I would have liked, but very minor. It also came with Zapp's chips! Always a plus in my book. The poke? Delicious. I get the price. It's expensive, but it's the middle of a desert in 115 degree weather. Great representation of salmon poke, and super well seasoned with pacific island flavors that are certainly reminiscent of the stuff you'd get on the island! If you're looking for a wonderful seafood experience, I'm confident you'd like Nelson's in Phoenix.

**July 2026: Saturday Late Afternoon Visit**…read more When I'm on vacation, I'm always on the hunt for local Arizona products at grocery stores, and AJ's Fine Foods did not disappoint. I was excited to find Prickly Pear Lemonade by AZ Lemonade, which was exactly the kind of local gem I was hoping to discover. This is definitely a really nice grocery store and gives off a bit of a Pavilions/Whole Foods vibe, but in a more quaint, slightly more mom-and-pop kind of way. The produce looked super fresh, and they had a really good assortment of Arizona products like BBQ sauce, honey, and other local items. Overall, it feels like a more upscale shopping experience, and if you're looking for a grocery store with local finds and a nicer atmosphere, this is a great stop.

Many, many moons ago, while working a high stress, low paying government position in the area,; I used to come here for lunch every nearly every day with coworkers and my supervisor. It was a little pricey, but you couldn't beat those big slices of warm pizza and the salad bar to go, not to mention the dessert. Not only was a a customer during their lunch hour, but I was also a customer that shopped for groceries there. The bakery was my favorite with the iced sugar cookies winning hands-down. The last time I was here was with my son in 2014 to get those sugar cookies mentioned above. So imagine my surprise when I am aggressively approached by two men, who I've never seen before in my life, but clearly work there, telling me that I've been trespassed from that store before and that I need to leave. I am utterly flabbergasted, floored, speechless. At this point, I had a basket full of groceries and I was waiting to be served at the bakery. Just like every other law abiding citizen, I ask what is going on and what are they talking about. Now, I am a relatively young female, unaccompanied in the store with a pretty severe case of CPTSD. Now, of course I do not expect these men to know this but grabbing my purse and other bagged items that I previously purchased, shoving them aggressively into the sides of my arms and shoulders all while saying things like " you know who you are" that I "have been trespassed here before" (untrue) they "have a right to refuse service and don't have to tell me anything" and I "know what I have done" and they "know what I am up to." while literally surrounding me and physically grabbing my car and shoving my things at me. Needless to say, I was severely triggered. In fact, they didn't even give me all of my stuff from my basket actually, maybe they did; I'm so traumatized by the whole thing that I don't even know. What I do know is that I've never stolen anything from AJ's in my entire life. I'm not a thief. In fact I won't even steal refills from Circle K because I feel like they will know. I have no idea who they have mistaken me for, perhaps no one . It would not surprise me if they just made some kind of judgment based off of my appearance. Never have I ever been in a situation like this before but I wanted to let everyone know how they treat people with zero explanation. H de my body tr free have a basket full of and I'm waiting to be served at the bakery.
