Who knew this German restaurant out on Waterloo would be so good?? Our server, Mia, was great. She was friendly, attentive, and honest and we really appreciated it. The environment was great. We sat outside and had dinner in the beer garden area and it was really comfortable and inviting. All of our food was fresh and made in house. The flavors were delicious. We had the chicken cordon bleu, the schnitzel, the little potato things, sauerkraut, potato salad, and cucumber salad. All of it was great. Just an over all great experience. Word of advice, if authenticity is important to you, the desserts are shipped in. They aren't made here. So be aware. Parking was easy. They are busy so you want to account for that. From the moment we walked in, the staff was so welcoming and friendly. We came here on a busy Saturday night, so the only seating available was outside. They have outdoor heaters and they even said they could provide us with blankets. We didn't need the blankets but I thought this was amazing customer service. When it came to ordering, the server was very knowledgeable and made some great suggestions. I ordered the potato pancakes as an appetizer and the chicken cordon bleu as my entre. The cordon bleu was really tasty, would definitely order again. I also ordered a green salad and spätzle. I enjoyed the freshness of the salad but the noodles were a bit bland for my taste. For dessert we went with the apple strudel, which was warmed up. Great way to end our meal. This was my first time at this restaurant and it definitely won't be my last. Excellent food, service, value. Ate outside on the lovely patio. The server was helpful and cheerful. The food is inexpensive and delicious. The farmer's schnitzel is very protein forward and the onions are grilled to perfection. I would have liked the egg a little less cooked, but I don't think that was an option. Love love pork schnitzel and this does not disappoint. The beets were standard--you love'em or you hate them. The potato croquettes were deliciously crunchy and soft and fluffy on the inside, a perfect balance. Stop reading the review and go get some!!! read more

We found this restaurant on Instagram, after loving a similar place in Lake Tahoe. We loved everything about it. The service was amazing. Everyone was super friendly and attentive. The food was great. My wife loved the pretzel. My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed everything in the sampler platter. The meatballs and currywurst were our favorites, but the potato pancakes were also fantastic. The sauces are incredible and I love their Spaetzle. The decor is cozy and there is good seating without feeling crowded. The beer garden outside looks fun, so we'll try that next time. Met friends for beer and the Wednesday schnitzel special. This is a good deal, any schnitzel plate which, concludes two sides of your choice for $15 The Hubbs got the barbecue schnitzel, which is a sweet barbecue sauce topped with sautéed red onions. I got the Hollan chili schnitzel, which is topped with hollandaise sauce and chili. At the recommendation of the server, I got the potato croquettes to dip in the chili hollandaise sauce along with spaetzel. My schnitzel was cooked perfectly, not too much breading and not oily. The potato croquettes were crunchy on the outside with creamy potatoes on the inside and also not oily. The only blah item was my spaetzel which I was looking forward to, but it was served cold and plain. I tried adding fresh lemon and then ended up asking for Hunter sauce, which is a brown gravy and mushrooms to go on top of the spaetzel. I really liked the sauerkraut which is served warm and is not overly tangy. Some time back, I had read an article in the Sacramento Bee, that Yelp had listed this place as one of the top six German restaurants in the country! Yet I had never come in. Well today, I was in Stockton, so I decided to stop in for lunch. The place is a few miles east of Stockton, on Highway 88. A little touch of Germany out amongst the farmland.... I come in, and was immediately greeted by Tiffany. Throughout my entire meal, she was very friendly and very helpful. I'm seated at my table, and since it was lunchtime, I got the lunch menu. It has to be pork schnitzel, of course! For my sauce, I was interested in the curry sauce. I know German curries can be very spicy, so I asked Tiffany, and she said no, it has just a tiny kick to it. So that's what I ordered. For my sides, I had the Spetzle, hunter style, with a mushroom sauce on top. For my other side, The bigos sounded interesting . I had never heard of it before. Warm sauerkraut, in a tomato sauce, with sausage and bacon. I'm sure the German beer is extremely good, but I retired from drinking sometime ago, so instead I just had a soda. The food comes quickly, and OMG, it was amazing! The schnitzel was absolutely delicious, it was not over breaded, and it was very tender. The curry sauce was amazing. It was not too rich, and it was perfect for the schnitzel. The tomatoes on top provided a wonderful pop of freshness. The. Spetzle, was perfectly done, and the mushroom sauce on top was so amazingly savory. And the. Bigos? As good. As everything else was, that was definitely the star of the show. The sauerkraut didn't overpower the sauce, and while the sauce was rich, the sauerkraut kept it from being too rich. The sauerkraut and the sauce played so absolutely wonderful together. That is a side I would have again, and again, and again. I finished the schnitzel and bigos, and some of my. Spetzle with the sauce, came home with me. It reheated extremely well.. For this amazing lunch with soda, it was only 20 bucks before tax and tip. An extremely reasonable price, for an absolutely amazing meal. I will absolutely definitely be back. Beer "boots" that two can share (maybe three) Julia (along with numerous ladies ) have a unique and EFFICIENT table light to let them know you are low in homemade Spatzle or beer or small but very tasty desserts! When we heard about this place, we had to take a drive and test it out. Upon arrival, we were very happy because it seems like we were in a little Germany. We had schnitzel and spaetzle, and some sausage and sauerkraut for hors d'oeuvre. They also have some German beer on tap as well as other beers to enjoy in a bottle The food was very tasty quite authentic for being in the central valley of California. Whaaaat? I have lived 45 mins from this place had NO idea this gem was so close! It opened in 2019 and has escaped my notice. I last had authentic German food way back in Germany in 1976, and was looking forward to it again when my wife and I take a river cruise there in 2027. That said, tonight I had the wonderful pleasure of experiencing the German Guys' way of doing business. The ambiance was an interesting mix of Bauhaus (where ladies carry massive mugs of beer) and Central Valley out in the country. Loved it! The service was fantastic, the meal was spot on (with the possible exception that my meatballs were room temp, I don't usually notice such things but there it is). Sauerkraut was delicious and the beets flavorful. I appreciated the availability of a cider (not a beer drinker) which was worth a repeat visit. I tossed them a bit of a curve with a request from my wife via text for some sausages. A fair price, a fair portion, and the transaction was smooth as I could ask for. This review will be a bit short as my only experiences were at a German holiday market. We have been the last couple of years highly recommended, now to the food!! We got currywurst and fries and the Laberkase with potatoes and red cabbage and the food was phenomenal the Sides were great. We are going to a cabin close to Arnold once or twice per year and are always looking for a good dinner experience on the way. This time we stopped in at German Guys on a Friday afternoon/early evening. We probably arrived at 5 pm to a very empty restaurant and when we left after our meal, it was packed! The food was good - and this is coming from a German ;-) Highest points for the Currywurst and the Pretzel. The Cordon Bleu was OKish, but not much flavor. Didn't know what to expect from the "Bigos". Had never heard of it. It was definitely interesting, but not something I would order again. I really liked the spacious outdoor setting, the friendliness of the staff (especially towards kids) and the beer. We will be back on our next trip to Arnold! read more

All right so this place wasn't terrible, but I do have a few critiques I would like to start out with that the little light thing that they put on your table that you apparently flip over when you want something is a little weird and childish, and I didn't find it was necessary in a small restaurant that maybe had 10 tables. Mia was our server and while she was very nice and mostly met our needs, I did find the overtly stylized delivery of her service to feel like she was talking to us like children. Our party was full grown adults and did not need the menu explained in a childlike manner and would have just preferred if she served us like a normal person. I didn't care for her delivery and was really annoyed by it by the end of our meal. The schnitzel was thinner than a pancake and was shocked that something about as thin as a tortilla was $10. The potato croquettes are very obviously not house-made as every one of them was uniquely uniformed. I believe the Cordon Bleu was also a premade frozen item as that was also exactly the same as the second piece. The server asked if those in our party who received the Cordon Bleu would like to purchase a second piece for five dollars since they "aren't that big." Those in the party that did opt to get the second one felt it was a little weird to be offered a second main part of the dish. We did not notice on the menu nor was it mentioned to us that if you ordered Spätzle as one of your sides, as indicated that it could be a possible choice for your side, that it would be an additional two dollars. So the Cordon Bleu meal that was regularly $22 was now an additional five dollars for the extra piece of chicken and an additional two dollars for the side of noodles which were completely overdone, cold and hard when we received it. another in hour party ordered the sausage dinner plate and felt the sausage was quite bland and wasn't all that great. Overall, we felt that most of the items we ordered were premade and frozen, but the sauces appeared to be house-made for the price paid, I would have liked to have seen more things house-maid. The meal wasn't terrible, but the bill was rather expensive for what we received. Our drinks were also never refilled. I wish we would have just gone to Waterloo bar across the street because we definitely know we like it there. Overall, I guess it was worth a shot, but we won't be coming back. read more

This is for service and food ! Mia is one of the worst waitresses ever super condescending and load and heard her give the same LOUD menu instructions to 2 other tables next to us . I thought it was just me Giving off a weird vibe but no. And don't get me started on the stupid table Light you need to flip for service because they only have a total of maybe 20 tables max including the outside . The food is mediocre at best I don't think people know how to cook at home anymore . The chicken was oversized McNugget from Sysco with some goopy sauce drizzled on it some fries that were so/so some over cooked and some undercooked presumably under a heat lamp and some watery iceberg salad . What a treat. Visited this establishment today with 2 of our good friends. None of us had been here before but we all wanted to try this place. It did not disappoint. Great place to have a few beers, hang out with friends and enjoy good food. It started with our server, very friendly and helpful. We decided to try the German Sampler for four and glad that we did since that was a great way to try several different types of their wonderful food. We started with Beers of course and one of their pretzels - yummy. Then our Sampler Plate arrived (it included a choice of 4 sides). We selected their Beet Salad, Potato Salad, Potato Croquettes and Spatzle. The Sampler plate had 4 Potato Pancakes, 2 Schnitzel's, 2 Meatballs (cut up), 2 Smoked Brats and 2 Berlin Curry Wurtz and with their Hunter Sauce and Gypsy Sauce on the side.
