German Auto Sport repaired the brake system in my car. The repairs took longer than promised, and the repairs turned out to be more expensive than they told me at first. The most important thing is that the repairs were carried out very poorly. After the repair, my car started making noises (knocking, rattling, ringing). Repairs are covered by a warranty. But this is a lie. After payment the client is no longer needed. Don't believe friendly talk and promises. I contacted them three times asking them to fix the problem. But they were just wasting my time. The problem has not been resolved. I recommend anyone who is worried about their car to get repairs done elsewhere. read more

I'm from San Francisco I purchased a used X6 in the East Bay last week...I Spoke with a guy named Justin who said to bring the car in to get it looked at it wasn't running but I would at least wanted them to diagnose it and tell me what's wrong with it .... I had the car towed from Crockett to Berkeley it got to the shop Wednesday morning the tow truck driver called me and said that the shop wouldn't take the car , I called the shop Spoke to the manager to get an explanation on why they just flat out refused and said they wouldn't take the car, something about the turbo had been taken off but all I wanted them to do was to diagnose it tell me what was wrong with it didn't matter the cost. Okay that's fine but you guys are supposed to be professionals and experts so tell ​ me what I have to do to get it running again and they couldn't do that just flat out refused my car ....JERKS! read more

I serviced my Porsche twice here. Once in 2020 and once in 2021. The person who helped me was nice and friendly. I liked the place enough to go back, but I may not go back there again. I have a hard time wanting to go back because of the 6 reasons below: 1. First time I went there in 2020. My engine oil lit up the same day after they completed maintenance on my car. When I had to make another trip to the shop to resolve this problem, he explained that the tech probably didn't run the car long enough to make sure that enough engine oil level is sufficient. Ok. I made another trip and took more time off to get this fixed. I get that things happen but not a great experience. Decide to go back again in 2021. When I arrived, I reminded them what happened last time as written above. But... 2. The cost to service my car was doubled what I was quoted. 2 weeks prior to getting my car service, I drove to the shop to explain everything I need to do to the car (interim service, oil change, filter change, front hood struts replacement) and was told it would be about $400-500. Sounds good so we scheduled a service appointment two weeks later. On the day of service, the guy said it will cost $927 and apologized for the misquote. So a bait and switch. Ok. 3. So I asked if they can throw in the Uber/Lyft credit to discount my bill even though my wife took time off to drive me. He said no but would ask his manager. When I picked up my car and paid, he didn't mention it at all. So I followed up and asked and he said no. Ok. 4. He asked if the shop can keep my car overnight, I said it'll be hard for my wife to take more time off to drive me to pick up my car, then he said no problem they will get the car back to me the same day. Later I got a call saying they cannot. Ok. 5. When I picked up my car the next day, he told me they couldn't get the front hood struts - it's all out of stock - so they weren't replaced. Ok. I made an appointment two weeks in advance and this wasn't communicated to me until I picked up the car after the service? Ok. I gave all of the feedback written here directly to him. He was receptive and he thanked me. He has been very nice throughout my interaction. Gave me tips and info on the car. I wrote the above right after I picked up my car, but the same night... 6. My car engine light lit up and it said "Oil level above maximum". At this point, I was like fuck me. Had to make another appointment. Had to drop off my car again for the day and find a ride. Again, I like the guy, I like that the shop take pictures and email a copy of the service report to me. I just wouldn't want to put myself through # 1 through 6 again. read more

Last week I got an alert my diesel needed more AdBlue and it was only when I tried making an appt with my auto repair shop of 15 years that I learned they'd abruptly gone out of business. I stopped by GAS without an appointment and saw a staff person working on a car on the lot. I approached, explained that I was looking to get some AdBlue and immediately the staff said he'd order it fresh if I could return after 2pm that day. Then he introduced himself as Chris, the owner, shook my hand. Told me their lunch hours and if he wasn't there, Justin could help me. I returned that afternoon and they had the AdBlue as promised. Seem like a competent lot but the premium price not worth it for most people. I paid $300 for just an oil change on a 2017 BMW 330i. Asked the owner Chris why the price was higher than market rate and the dealership and he said something along the lines of "If its price that is your focus, you will always find the wrong people." Inadequate response imo but telling. Edit. Downgrading to a 1 star because of harassment. Just got this email from the owner after leaving my initial review. How businesses with awful customer service survive out here is astonishing to me. Lesson for other businesses out there - how you react to a bad review says a lot about your business. So my 2015 MINI Couple Coupe (2DR with manual gear shift) decided the clutch wasn't going to take it anymore as I was getting off the 12th Street offramp on I-980. Luckily, the tow truck arrived quickly and dropped my now-disabled MINI to German Auto Sport. These guys are legit. Customer service that way it's supposed to be, excellent communication throughout the repair process. Replacing the clutch ended up being an untimely but necessary expense, but pricing was reasonable. The repair took a day longer than originally estimated, but only because they encountered an issue and wanted to ensure the repair was perfect. And to be honest, when I got my MINI back, shifting gears felt buttery smooth, like when I first got the car, which made me realize the clutch had probably been deteriorating for a long while. Before calling GAS, I actually called a shop that was near my house for a quote and they literally hung up on me after saying "no". The folks at GAS we're NIGHT AND DAY different. I was welcomed with such hospitality and genuine kindness. I never felt like I was being mansplained to nor did my wife. If you want to go to a shop that actually treats you with respect and dignity, this is your place. I also never felt pressured into doing work that I could either do myself or couldn't afford. My car could have used some additional work which I refused and they simply answered with a "No problem" and nothing more. Not a single word of judgment or scolding but simple respect for my wishes. I went in for an oil change. Which they did at a reasonable price. They also did a vehicle inspection for free. When I received their review they had 7 items on the list that needed to be done ($5,309.37). A water pump which I had done 3 yrs prior I questioned that and they asked me a few questions and then said no I didn't need that. Moving on, told me I needed control arm bushings (1,800.38). I looked up the symptoms for this need I have NONE. In fact I took my car somewhere else and paid $72.00 for them to check it --I NEEDED NOTHING. The only thing I did need that they mentioned was brake fluid exchange ($401.84). The place I went for 2nd opinion did it for $201.14. The other reason I will never go to GAS is when I read the reviews(after I went to them) they had many good reviews and a few bad ones..the owners response to the negatives were so nasty and snarky..which I think is not necessary. The dude tried to rip me off, lying straight to the face. Absolutely not recommend. He is expensive anyways. What happened is that I've had a HPFP broken, brought the car to this service ONLY to diagnose. Turns out the HPFP is under warranty, so I'm telling the guy named Chris don't fix it I take it to Weatherford BMW as they fix it for free. He is telling me I can reimburse the invoice from BMW North America, while I called BMW NA 3 times and they told me that 3rd party (non-dealership) mechanic invoices can not be reimbursed in any circumstance. He kept telling me that BMW NA is lying and he is doing this reimbursement for years. Obv he did not want to reimburse himself. :D So he does not pick up the phone for 2 days then sends me a 2000$ invoice while I only told him not to fix the car. A Bosch HPFP costs 180$ retail he gets one for you for 650$ (300+% margin), which I think is a highway robbery. Plus 1400$ service fee for 3 hours of work. So I've had a pretty horrible experience. I've been meaning to write this review for a year ever since Chris and Yar took my barely-running '89 325is and fixed it up so nice it blew zeroes at the smog station. Look at the smog results below...this is a 30 year old E30 with 220,000 miles, and it blew zeroes. The tech said he'd never seen a car this old pass with such flying colors, and ran it twice because he thought his equipment was broken. One year later and tight as a drum. Don't waste tour money and take your Mini Cooper in here. They sin't seem to like working on them. I told them I had a coolant problem in July. They said it was the coolant cap. charged me $200 and never replaced it. Coolant was still leaking they replaced a radiator. $1,200 Coolant was still leaking. The biggest issue I have with this place is they didn't care about finding the leak and fixing the problem. No customer service. A good mechanic trouble shoots and asks you questions and knows the cars they work on. These guys don't know their way around a mini cooper and don't care so don't waste your money!! read more
