But I was on a mission : - ) I was in the city yesterday to visit relatives and thinking of what to bring to them would not be deter me as I snaked my way through all the construction. Trying not the be negative, the thought entered my mind that this wonderful place may not have made it through the pandemic... But there it was - lights on and someone walked out while I was parking... The on-way street has parking on both sides. I've always found it to be tough to find a spot... but I hit it right, finding one directly across! I was greeted by the nicest, friendly clerk who chatted with me some while she hand- sifted powdered sugar over a few paczkis ( Polish/Eastern European donuts) I bought. I kept going... hoping for a cheese babka, they only had a few other kinds - it was late morning. So I opted for a Walnut Strudel that looked delish. I added a few more items to my purchase. She packed them well. Leaving, it took more snaking around the streets, but not too bad. I just want to remind people that what you purchase here will not be as "sweet" as grocery store bought. The Kosher certified pastries, cookies etc. are made in the old world tradition and are exactly as they should be- as they've always been. They are meant to be shared over steamy cups or coffee, tea and engaging conversation. When I arrived my relatives were all smiles awaiting what was in my bags/boxes.. happy to see me? or the pastry? LOL

The cases and shelves are fully stocked with cookies and breads, and off to one corner sits a refrigerated cased with Apple Tarts that seem to be beckoning. I was unsure if the tart was made at the bakery due to the packaging and label. But it looked good, so I grabbed them to go. I thought the tarts were delicious, not overly sweet with a nice texture. I'd look forward to eating these again. Alas there were no French Eclairs, my perennial favorite, and there could be a greater selection of pastries. That said, this is a great local spot to score some fresh bread or tasty treats!

Nicole was kind enough to help me place an order and was able to pick up our goodies the next evening. Cinnamon rolls might be the best I've ever had (in over 60 years of eating them!); maple-frosted brownies were great too - more fudgy than cakey, which I prefer, but not simply like eating fudge (which would have been too sweet). Looking forward to next opportunity to placing another big order!

Wholeheartedly recommend them for cannolis. I have tried their other desserts, but hands down the go-to dessert here are the cannolis (and I have had all the flavors - favorite, pistachio). I like that they have the mini ones. And of course the staff people are a delight and are always able to direct you and advise on the other desserts they have there.

Almond-anise biscottis were bland - no almond taste (other than the almonds which actually did not…read moretaste fresh) plus no anise taste whatsoever ... reported issue to company who acknowledged we and others have reported the same issue. We were offered another biscotti variety of our choice (chocolate chunk) as a free replacement. When we opened the replacement pack, two of the biscottis fell short: (1) one biscotti was half-size, not full size; (2) second biscotti was perhaps 2/3 in size, not full size. Don't they weigh the pack before it gets sealed? Apparently, they do not. And, the chocolate chunk coloration varied. We are concerned that the quality of the ingredients being used now falls short compared to what we experienced a year ago. How in the world can a biscotti having "anise" named in the flavor title have no anise taste at all! It's not worth spending $10. for their single-pack any longer when compared to less expensive Italian-made biscottis available at the grocer, even if their biscottis are larger in size. Quality counts more than its biscotti-size

This week, they had the Little Debbie menu. We got my favorite pink chilled sugar cookie that's always available, and a Strawberry Shortcake Roll Cookie off the specials menu. The strawberry roll tasted just like the dessert, and had the best whipped frosting swirled in with strawberry jelly frosting. The cookie itself was slightly gritty and tasted just like shortbread, uncanny! The chill pink sugar was great as always, with the frosting seeming extra fresh and stronger on the cherry note than usual. Only taking off a star because 1 out of 2 kiosks was out of order, and the one that was working was a little glitchy and we had issues logging into our rewards account - the text code to verify your phone number only went through on the third try. Overall a very cute and clean location though.
