I could read the "E" at the top of the eye chart and that was all. As soon as I could, much later in life, I did something about it. Two co-workers recommended Dr. Ashraf of the Atlanta Vision Institute when he was with his former lasik surgery practice. On their recommendation, I had the same surgery performed (using a type of Bausch & Lomb equipment that is obsolete now). He corrected my eyes to 20/15 in one eye, and nearly 20/15 in the other. This was back in 2001 and I swear by my results. Lasik, though performed under a streamlined process, is still surgery, and you experience minor discomfort and inconvenience as you recover. The success rate is very, very high, as a result of being carefully screened beforehand. Read the literature accompanying your consent forms. I referred Miss D. to Dr. Ashraf after he formed the Atlanta Vision Institute, and he performed a different type of vision improvement surgery for her, and three years later she also is very happy with her result. We paid for and received the one-year touch-up package, though she did not use it.

I had a lot of concerns about LASIK and risks, but after speaking to Dr. Ashraf he was able to put all my worries at ease. He is very knowledgeable and experienced, with some of the best and newest technology available today. I decided to schedule surgery September 2014. I was told the surgery would take about 10-15 minutes, but it honestly didn't feel like it took even that long. Other than some pressure on your eyes from the instruments used to keep your eyes open, the procedure was painless. Directly after surgery they check your sight and my eyes were almost as good as they were with glasses coming in! There is some pain/soreness for a few hours after surgery (when the eye drops wear off). Have someone drive you home and take a 3-4 hour nap. After that, there was no pain at all and my sight continued to get better and better! I haven't been to a check up recently, but at my last one my sight was almost 20/20. I don't have any issues (no dryness or anything), except that for the first few months I would see some halos around lights when driving at night, but honestly I had this issue with contacts as well so it wasn't a big deal. Since I had such a good experience, both my husband and best friend decided to get LASIK done here. They both both couldn't believe how fast and easy it was and none of us regret our decision! I wish I had done this sooner. I highly recommend getting LASIK, and especially from Dr. Ashraf who was so professional and a pleasure to work with.

He takes notes but does not communicate to the patient what he observes. Losing your eye site is scary especially if u are elderly and alone. The doctor foes not do callbacks and schedule appointments every 4 months. My mother has end stage wide eye glaucoma. This man cannot give her more of his precious time?? Ironically enough we end up waiting an hour before being seen. For 10 min with this "professional" ; if one is late for their appointment they charge $70 for a late fee. I suppose his time is more valuable than that of his patients?? This is unacceptable

I waited an hour today before finally being seen and then was told that the full appt wld take 2-3 hrs and that my eye wld be dilated. None of this was explained to me previously and I was not prepared, I had to get back to work. The tech was apologetic and offered to get the practice mgr. The practice mgr cld have cared less about my frustration or concerns. She explained that call center folks have to tell pts when making the appt and that there are signs in the waiting room (I ultimately found one behind some other information at a window that I did not check in with). At no point did the office mgr offer any condolences or try to listen to my frustrations. There was no regard in her affect or in her interactions to let me know that my concerns were valid. This clinic feels like a cattle call situation where they're only interested in getting as many pts in the system as they possibly can and less about pt care or respect. I even heard people in the waiting room talking about how they had waited once 2 hrs. The tech and office mgr assured me that the MD was "fabulous." I don't care if this is how you treat your pts.

Yesterday was the last time I will patronize EYE 1st at this location. I chose this provider last…read moreyear because the location is close to my home. My entire family got a full eye exam. After my exam, I wanted to look at glasses. I waited 10-15 mins for someone to assist me or at least acknowledge my presence. It never happened so I left. Not a good impression regarding customer service. When I went in for the annual exam this year, they hit me with an out of pocket $30 fee for a "photo." My insurance company asked for the CPT code (92015BL) and said they "would" pay for it. I called receptionist and asked her to please call my insurer to confirm they would pay. Unfortunately, she did not call me back. A few days later when I took my kids in for their annual exam, I decided NOT to get their photos because of the hassle getting reimbursed. Besides, we have never been asked to pay for any photos during routine eye exams. When I tried to "opt out" of the photos for my kids, she informed me they would NOT do an eye exam without the photos. Hey that smacks of the kind of bundling that SW vendors and cable companies use to make us buy things we don't want or need. I caved in and coughed up the extra $60 because I did not want to go through the scheduling drill again with my busy teens but that was the last straw for me with this Eye 1st location. I feel like they took advantage of me and we won't be back.

I never forget people who provide such wonderful, personalized service and I like to share that information with my friends and through my reviews here on yelp. I also like to bring those people cupcakes, but that's another story. All this to say - sure, I spent nearly double what I could have spent online at a discount retailer, but the personal assistance of not one, but two techs in the office to help me find the perfect glasses was well worth the extra money. I could tell they really enjoyed what they were doing and these wonderful ladies helped me find the most adorable Coach glasses that perfectly fit my face and style - and there was no rush to pick a pair. They were knowledgeable and knew exactly what would work. And for once - I may even wear these cute specs out in public instead of just after hours in my home. Oh, and they arrived in less than 4 days. Happy eyes! Thanks, Ladies of Eye1st! I might see you soon to get that second pair I was eyeing that day!

Made an appointment online & got a call back saying they didn't take my insurance. So I used my husband's & the Rep was very helpful & called me back to confirm that PVI took it based on the info I provided. The exam was extremely thorough. I answered all questions they had & was presently surprised that Dr.Nim pointed out a few things she could tell I was dealing with. She noticed I had dry eye & allergies. She recommended some over-the-counter drops & so far so good. Mind you I went to another Optometrist less than 6 months ago & none of this was pointed out. I can tell she cares about what she does & is very knowledgeable. I even found out about something that could help my child with their eyesight & he wasn't there at the time. I didn't feel rushed & everyone who works there is pleasant & attentive. When looking at glasses I was advised of the amount my insurance covered & given prices for add-ons & recommendations. So no surprises at all. The only thing that may turn people off is they do not have a large selection of glasses but I found some that work for me! One of the best exams I've ever had & I've been wearing glasses since I was 12 y/o.
