Great honest people. these reviews that say otherwise obviously are people that go into places prepared to be negative.

Extremely personable, informative staff…read more Was able to get a same day appointment for an oil change on our Macan. Service was quick, accurate and extremely fairly priced. Will absolutely put this location at the top of my list for any future needs.

I have reported this to BBB as well. WARNING: DO NOT GO TO THIS shop. I will never use any Butler…read moreAutomotive for anything EVER again. On 06/23/2026, I took my vehicle to Butler Automotive West, Inc. for diagnostic and repair services. I was charged $2,500 for the repair. Within the same hour of picking up my vehicle on 07/02/2026, it broke down again with the same issue that was supposed to have been fixed. When I contacted the shop to report the immediate failure, I was told it must have been something I did, even though the vehicle had barely been driven since leaving their shop. They refused to take responsibility for the failed repair or offer a reasonable explanation. I had to pay the tow service because I wanted it towed to my residence instead of being towed to Butler Automotive again. The business charged a substantial amount, did not fix the problem, and then suggested towing the vehicle back to their shop--potentially to charge additional fees. After paying $2,500, my car should not have broken down the same day. I paid nearly $200 for diagnostics alone; they did not even diagnose the issue properly. The tow man told me immediately that the alternator or the battery is the issue; it's the fuel injection system. I asked that it be checked when I gave them my car to fix, and they clearly ignored me and obviously didn't even do a diagnostic test, and their mechanics can't be smart. Butler Auto is A SCAM. Money-hungry liars. I cried to them, literally cried, begging them for help with the bill. I let them know my situation that I couldn't pay $2500 upfront, begged for in-house financing, and they refused to help in any way. Desired Resolution: A full refund of $2,500 for ineffective repair services. A written explanation of the diagnostic and repair process. Accountability for the immediate breakdown following service.

I had just purchased my '09 BMW 128i and noticed a very unusual problem, namely the windshield…read morewasher fluid would not dispense despite the fluid pump running when I pulled the lever. After scanning the reviews of auto shops in the area, I decided to go with Mathewes Auto Repair. They took me in, dropped me off at my lodging, and took my car in to investigate the problem. After a few hours, I got the word that a fungus had grown on the filter leading from the washer fluid pump to the dispensing tubes. Talk about an unusual diagnosis! (I found out later that this is not uncommon for BMWs, requiring the addition of alcohol to the washer fluid to prevent this growth. So, it looks like I'm heading to the liquor store!) But, the guys at Mathewes solved this mystery and did a full inspection just in time for me to get on the road to Illinois! These guys are customer focused and experts, especially for European and imports. I'm glad I took my car to these guys!
