This place is GREAT!! They have good wines, good staff & great options for wines. This is a very neat place nestled in the Georgetown Square with different little shops. Sometimes in the evening they even have a band playing. This is a very cool place with cheap prices. The wine tasting is only $5 during the day, before 5pm and you get a choice of 3 different wines & 1 can be a dessert wine. Or you can spend $10 and choose ANY wine. Go check it out!! read more

The wine was ok simply because staff was absolutely horrible. My wife and I ordered tasting and it seemed that the staff turned their noses at us just because we didn't order a full glass first. EXTREMELY RUDE and horrible customer service from the staff. We went to Pilots Knob after and it was ten times better. Remember to take care of the of people equally. read more

Let me start off by saying, I love wine and I love people. I have worked in customer service and account management for my entire life, and while I realize not everyone is cut out for that line of work, it is critical when your business exists through repeat customers and referrals. I am almost 30, and I understand the days can be long and whatnot, but the girls whispering behind the counter and talking about gossip with smirks on their faces makes customers uncomfortable and unwelcome. Let me iterate that it is almost impossible to make me feel uncomfortable, but it happened here. It was like pulling teeth to have a simple conversation. I was giving them the customer service and interaction that they should have been delivering. Quick tips on customer service: 1. Smile 2. Acknowledge each customer even if you are serving another and accommodate them when you have finished with that customer. I rented cars early on in my career, it can be done. 3. Loosen up and have a conversation 4. Gossip is unprofessional 5. Engage with your customers 6. Simply saying hello and how are you when it looks like it was forced and almost killed you, doesn't count. The glass of wine I had was good - Capitol Red. I typically don't post reviews, but it was upsetting to feel like I was imposing on the gossip session behind the counter. After reading other reviews it appears this has been a consistent issue and won't change, but here's my 2 cents anyway. Cheers. read more

My wife and discovered Georgetown Winery over a year ago and have been going back ever since. They offer everything from wine by the glass at their wine bar to private wine tastings. We had just got done eating at Eats on 8th (totally recommend) and thought we would walk around and wander the little shops. All the shops were very nice and the employees welcoming. We were planning on doing a wine tasting at another location when we saw Georgetown Winery. We decided just to go in and do the tasting. It's $10 for 4 samples. We had a group of 4 so we all got different ones so we could sample more. Most wines were mediocre and tasted like a wine cooler, but there was a couple of good ones. The store is cute and I loved the wine accessories and household decorations. The reason for rating them low was because of one employee. She was a young blonde named Chelsea (I made sure to ask the nice employee with long black hair for that girls name so I could call out her terrible service). From the time we walked in she made eye contacted and turned her back. We sat at the table, read that on Saturday's we had to do the tasting at the counter. She came to our table and stated "what do you want?" We said we were there to do the tastings and she stated we had to go to the counter and mid sentence walked away. The other nice employee came over to check on us since we were still reading the menu and was extremely polite and informative. We went to the counter and unfortunately Chelsea was the one helping us. We said thank you, but never responded back or acknowledge any of us with eye contact. We went and sat back down and proceeded to watch this horrible employee look people up and down with distain. I was really in awe of how many people she could give dirty looks to or ignore their thank you's. After we finished our samples we thought about buying a few glasses of wine to play a drinking game. We would drink anytime Chelsea rolled her eyes, looked a customer up and down with disgust, ignore someone. I did end up buying a 3 bottles of cranberry wine for Thanksgiving, 2 other kinds for friends and some accessories and luckily the older blonde lady assisted me and was friendly towards my business. I would suggest the manager/owner get this gal some customer service skills or maybe keep her in the back cleaning the toilets. It would be a fitting job for her crappy personality. read more

The peach wine is so good ! The cheese plate actually has good cheese. The kids really enjoyed the cheese plate. The Georgetown square is really turned into a neat place. They will let you shop the square and take a glass of we one to go. read more

I really like this winery. the people are friendly and they make your wine tasting fun. the wine tastings are inexpensive. They give little samples if you are unsure of a particular wine which is very helpful so you don't have to waste one of your wine tastings since you get 3. $5 bucks for 3 wine tastings is good. they give a little snack usually crackers or something which are always good and fresh. Some evenings they have a band that plays which is nice. Its fun for friends to go and have fun. It is worth going to.They also have other specials and lite snacks for purchase. read more

Stopped in for happy hour before a play at the Palace Theatre. Prices were reasonable. Selections were plentiful. We happened to get the Sangiovese and Barbera wine. The Barbera was the CLEAR winner. Also, the Friday night we went, they had a saxophonist, which could still be heard at the outside tables by the entrance. Nice touch. read more

I went in with my parents several months ago and had a great time. Even signed us both up for their wine club. My parents went in again on their own to get their free wine they get with their membership and had the absolute WORST service ever. They were treated very rudely and like they were wasting the employee's time. I called to speak to management the next day and was told no one was available. I asked to cancel my membership to the wine club at that point. The woman on the phone laughed, yes out loud, and stated in her wonderful southern accent "oh no honey you can't do that you've got a year to go". Shocked by her response, I asked for a manager to call me back. It's been 3 months... still waiting. I've stopped payment on my credit card for both accounts and will never be back, neither will my parents. read more

I live in Georgetown and have been taking this awesome place a bit for granted. After a really fun evening, I thought I ought to finally post a review. I go here often for wine, of course, but also they have a great selection of olive oils for restocking my pantry or make a great gift along with a bottle of wine. Speaking of great gifts, they also have a nice selection of fun items that "dress up" a bottle of wine when giving it as a gift -- cute glasses, magnets, etc. The atmosphere is wonderful. Friday and Saturday nights they have entertainment. The staff is friendly and attentive and makes for a great evening. They're a must-do here in Georgetown. read more

The Peach Wine, Oliver Oil, Balsamic vinegar all great products however, the staff are not the most inviting or talkative people I've seen. The place closes too early at 6 pm so good luck getting there after standard work hours. read more

First time checking out the tasting rooms in the area. Brought my mom along and we both were extremely underwhelmed. We were not greeted by any staff, I had to start the dialogue of "its our first time here, tell us about your winery, where do you source your grapes from, etc". I have been a sommelier working and managing tasting rooms in CA for years and was so disappointed in the lack of customer service and overall knowledge of the wine associates. After seeing that their Pinot Grigio was sourced from CA I asked which region in particular. The associate rudely answered "I can't tell you that". I was embarrassed for the manager or shift leader that I believe was standing next to us. She vaguely mentioned Lodi and Temecula. Which one was it? After purchasing the glass of Pinot, I immediately regretted it. The description read that it was crisp and dry. It tasted of peach baby juice. As to not insult, I walked out and threw the glass away. I don't see us returning after that experience. I hope the management can properly train their associates to be well versed in their wines as well as their overall hospitality. read more

I don't consider myself to have a very discerning palate (I've not met many glasses of wine I don't like), so I'll stay away from rating the wine. We (my wife, her mother and sister, and myself) had no issues at all with the wine. We ate a cheese and meat tray, and that was quite nice. With that said, the true value in this place is the coziness, and friendliness of the place. The owners run it, and seemed very nice. Its a neat, almost "country store" feel inside - a bit eclectic, but it's unique, and has some interesting things to buy. It was a great way to have a drink or two before dinner at one of the restaurants nearby, or to have a drink after an early dinner (which we did). Very nice place. read more

We love, Love, LOVE Georgetown Winery! Owners Dan and Becca couldn't be more welcoming and friendly, especially toward our beloved Sheltie. We have made friends with GW customers at their Community Table. A fun stop if you are walking Georgetown Square in the early evening on "First Friday" or shopping during the afternoon at "Second Saturday". Live music is always good. All in all a nice friendly stop for a glass of Texas wine. Owners and Staff couldn't be more pleasant or accommodating. Their Thirsty Mule Winery in Liberty Hill is also a pleasant "must stop" if you are taking in Hill Country wineries. read more

I LOVE GEORGETOWN WINERY!!! They have a great selection of wines (red, white, and sweet), as well as some awesome olive oils and vinaigrettes. They also have some great snacks to munch on while enjoying your wine. It's hard to narrow down my favorite wine, but the chocolate raspberry Port is amazing!!! The space is cozy and unpretentious and they are always so attentive and welcoming. I have taken several friends here and they immediately understand why this is on the top of my list. We really enjoy spending time with friends and sipping on some fun wines. They have a great variety to keep everyone in the party happy. Love this time of year as the Cranberry wine is available ~ it is fun to augment this as breakfast Bellini for Sunday brunches. Just add 1 bottle of Cranberry, 1 bottle of Prosecco and add 1 whole squeezed lime juice to the pitcher. Serve over ice and Voila!! Yummy! read more

Not a trustworthy place. We went on a Friday evening for a tasting for four for which we had a cetificate. We were told that it wasn't redeemable on a weekend AND we needed a reservation. We called two days earlier and we were told we didn't need reservations for the tasting. We used the other half of the certificate at their other winery The Thirsty Mule last Saturday. Isn't that a weekend???? There was no fine print or disclaimers on the certificate and when we called, we didn't state we had a tasting certificate. So they refused to honor their own certificate. You would think they would work to solve misunderstandings. We will never go back. read more

Went there this past weekend with friends from California. Had drinks relaxed and did a little shopping. I was also looking for an empty barrel but unfortunately they had sold out at both locations. They took my number in case one turned up and or to call me in a few weeks when they had emptied some more. I stopped earlier at their neighbor up the street where I am a MEMBER and was told they would put me on their list for a barrel that was currently a 2 1/2 year wait. I was attempting to get one as soon as possible because I was driving out of state and wanting to take it with me. Otherwise I would have to ship it which would cost a fortune. Becca was outstanding for putting up with me as I can be a little much at times ;-). Her husband was listening over the wall in the back and came out to either assist Becca or save her from me. He went out of his way to make calls and have one of their employees return his personal barrel to the other store The Thirsty Mule in Liberty Hill for us to pick up. This is *****Customer service. On top of that we got to enjoy some good wine at both locations where they make you feel like family. Thank You!!!!! read more

I always have a wonderful experience here! This past Saturday, my husband and I went for a wine tasting. We bought some cigars and accidentally left them at the register. We walked into the antique store next door and one of the servers from the winery, Chelsea, tracked us down to give us the cigars! That is beyond amazing service and meant a lot to my husband and I! read more

Overall, horrible experience- poor service! We are on vacation from out-of-state & wanted to go wine tasting, so we dropped in to this place and purchased a few wine tastings. While we tried to enjoy the wine, we inquired about them, but the two young ladies seemed disinterested and bothered with our presence. However, every time a Caucasian walked in, they offered wonderful service & their demeanor changed. It's unfortunate that they are the face of this business. The owners should know that they are a liability to their business, and they need to retrain their staff & teach them good customer service. We were there during the late afternoon. I will never go there again nor recommend it. I must say prices are reasonable but bad service will hurt the bottom line. A big part of wine tasting experience is the customer service. How sad that such a cute town has such a distasteful little business with no manners. If I could give a 0 star, I would give it. read more

Got a chance to meet Dan & try 2 of his wine's at a event in Hutto. Beyond impressed by both wines (Peach was my favorite and normally I hate peach). My husband and I were both impressed by Dan. Very friendly, outgoing, great conversation all while serving the many many attendees of the event. We came back to his booth 4 times, and each time left with a smile on our faces. The only reason I didn't leave 5 stars is that we have yet to get out to the winery, but the ownership & wines were fantastic. read more

This is a very nice store and the wine is good...IF... you're going to drink it there, or take it across town. Don't begin to think you can drive for 2 hours or so with it in your car. I loved their Chocolate Almond Cherry Port when I sampled it there. When I got it home and opened it 2 days later, I thought I should be making a vinaigrette with it. Terrible. As their web site states, because of the hot weather in Texas, they cannot be responsible for the quality of the wine once it leaves their store. And don't try to contact them to resolve this kind of problem. They won't budge. Don't make the mistake I did. That's $33 down the drain. It's good wine..... just drink it there. read more

I am rarely in Georgetown so it was a surprise to me to stumble upon such a jewel. My son was going on spring break camp through Georgetown Park & Rec and had to go to a 4 hour orientation on paddling the day before they departed. I found myself in Georg town on a Saturday afternoon with 4 hours to kill. There was a little craft fair happening on the main square but it was just two cold to hang outside. I noticed a wine store & book store on the square and thought I would head over there and kill a few hours. I walked in this store/winery and noticed they offered flights for $2.50. What a deal. I tried two Chardonnays and a Super Texan red. We were highly entertained by Laura the manager while she weaved stories about her tipsy jar and there no cussing jar at home. She was great. The wine was great and I would be back if I lived closer. I ended up leaving with a bottle of the Super Texan Red which has won awards. I normally don't drink red because of the sulfates but apparently this wine is very low in sulfates. They make the wine their but the grapes are from California. They offer some interesting customized labels that would make great gifts. I guess this is there new location and it's really cute. If you are in the area stop by, have a flight and ask for Laura. This is one of my favorite Wineries.. I love the atmosphere and the music on the weekend evenings.. I think they have a great selection of wine. If you love sweet wine then you would love the Blackberry and Blueberry wine it's amazing. This is the perfect place to have a girls day or a date night. Lori and Chelsea have always been so friendly and made our visit to the winery so great. We look forward to making so many more memories there.. read more

I love this place and have been a member for years. Desert wines are excellent, if you are a member they give you healthy sized tastings, the wines are affordable and the Texican wine is great.
