My sister's and i take a sister's weekend along with two of our sister in laws every year. This year, we ended up in Georgetown at the Square after or original plans fell through. And i am glad they did. We finished our day the at the winery, great place to end. 4 of us did the wine tasting. We had so much fun with the tasting and had some great laughs. Not only do they have wine, but they also have great items for sale. The employees were really nice as well. We had a great time; built memories for a lifetime. Would definitely go again. read more

Young men, pay attention: If you are in a new relationship and your new girlfriend likes wine, you need to take her here. Check their hours first because I believe they are only open lateR on Friday and Saturday nights. Wines are very good (try the Vino Rosso, Cab Franc or the Sangiovese) and affordable so you can even purchase a bottle to take away with you. Cheese plate is also a nice touch and is a good value - it's under $10 and comes with 2 cheeses, pepperoni and garlic toasts. It's on the square in downtown Georgetown between 2 gift shops... I don't think it could be any frickin' cuter. They also have a wine club that is $50 per quarter and you get their new releases before they are sold in the store. I'm a big fan of this place and it helps to get to know the owners. They have recently renovated the place and they no longer make wine in the actual shop. (So if you haven't been there in a while, you should go back and give it another try.) read more

They get 2 stars for their wine and 1 star for the service. The lady was so nice who helped us, and they had a lot of cute stuff in their gift shop! I was very disappointed in the wine though, it was meh. I was really surprised of all the awards and 5 star reviews of the wines. There was only one bottle we really cared for, and it wasn't worth the price, as we can get our favorite Becker malbec at HEB for much less. :( read more

Georgetown winery is a great local spot for wine tasting or to just buy some tasty wine! They also offer a wide variety of olive oil. We shipped several bottles up north around Christmas and everything arrived on time. I highly recommend trying funky monkey! They also have live music on Fridays. The wine was average. Prices are reasonable. However the two ladies attending the store today were unwelcoming and made us feel uncomfortable. I took two guests from out of town and these ladies were just staring at us and reluctantly served us. Unfortunate for the business owner as the place has promise. I went there after eating pizza with a to go cup of beer, and was looking to buy two adorable wineglasses, but before I could make my purchase I was kicked out for having a cup of beer....meanwhile people were meandering in the store with glasses of wine. While walking the square in Georgetown on a shopping and relaxing day with a friend, we popped into Georgetown Winery to see what was up. She was driving, so I was sampling the wines - which I love to do. They had a lot of fruity wines and some awesome looking ports - so I decided to go ahead and pay for a tasting. $10 for a flight of 4 tastings, with a limit of one dessert wine was a bit steep, but alright. Blackberry: Sweet and wonderful, I really liked this one. Not as good as other blackberry wines that I've had but still pretty good. Tempranillo: No spice to this one. The whole reason I like a Tempranillo is the great after taste zing you get. It just wasn't in theirs. Funky Monkey: Loved this one, bought a bottle. Pineapple/Banana? Yes please! Smells like banana, huge pineapple taste on the palate. Jubilee Reserve Chocolate Cherry Port: Too sweet, not enough cherry punch for me. It was good, but I've had better. The lady doing the tasting was very nice and incredibly personable, easy to chat with and I really liked that. She was a little busy at first but apologized and we got through the tasting fairly quickly. As I said, I bought a bottle of the Funky Monkey - it wasn't too badly priced, around $15 I believe. Not bad at all. The only thing about this place that I really wasn't fond of was the high cost tasting with only 4 in the flight. It just is too steep. I'd love to go back and do another tasting, but honestly, I'm really not sure if I want to pay another $10 to not even crack ten tastes on their long list of available wines. It just doesn't make sense! Four stars... wish I could give five. read more

Nice place to take a break and try some local wines. We have stopped in many times while visiting my parents in nearby Sun City. They are wine club members and are very fond of most of their wines. Service has always been friendly and personalized with each employee trying to tailor the tasting/suggestions to the tastes of the guests. They have a wide selection of fruit flavored/infused wines that I personally don't care for, but they are very popular with others. Their capitol red is a good red blend table wine and the viognier is a good semi-dry white perfect for a hot day. Others in our group enjoyed the cranberry wine as well of some of the sweet dessert wines. read more

Update to my earlier update..... I finally managed to make use of the voucher the owner provided me. My husband and I took my mother here, and got a table for the three of us to sit at while enjoying a wine tasting. We sampled 4 different wines, along with some port, while sharing a meet & cheese tray. The night we went, they had a musician on a sax set up in the corner doing live music. I must say, this was a complete 180 from our previous visit, and we were quite impressed. It was a nice atmosphere, and we definitely became fans of this place. We also learned that they have a sister location out in Liberty Hill that does tours too, so that is on our 'to-do' list now. Due to the tasting, we snagged a bottle of peach wine that we really liked. Thank you Georgetown Winery for making amends, and being a business that shows it does care about the impression folks get when visiting here. Highly recommended. read more

Wow, what a great discovery! When you step into the Georgetown Winery, your mood automatically gets better. The atmosphere is so friendly and the warm woods and tasteful decor are only the first impressions. After a brief description of a variety of "made on site" wines, you can be treated to a delightful tasting experience, including crackers to cleanse your palate between wines. They have such a variety of wines, there's something for every taste. You can also enjoy a cheese platter. Vintner Dan Marek and wife, Becca warmly welcome guests and will suggest a wine to try if you are undecided. I love to visit in the middle of the afternoon for a relaxing break and a glass of my favorite Texas Gold Rush wine. I will be bringing my book club for our next meeting, too! read more

Very very cute and affordable. This place has a definite small town feel! We did the samples and we're no wine experts, but we did like almost every wine we tried. More than anything it was a nice relaxed way to spend a Friday night and do something a little different. They have lots of cute, unique things in the gift store...which is actually just the small entrance to the place but it was nice to peruse for a couple minutes. Went here a couple of weeks ago and we both did the wine tasting for $5 per person. Bought the Primitivo and it is really a wonderful full-bodied wine. Have had it with Italian food and pizza and it goes really well. I'm sure it would go well with steak too! Sampled two dessert wines: Both the chocolate cherry and the chocolate raspberry ports were delicious. They are like having dessert because they are sweet but really yummy. read more

Went here on day trip on our way to Austin. Stopped into the winery and the two ladies were not helpful. We had to ask all the questions about the winery and their response was short and curt. We we the only people in the winery and yet they felt as if it was an inconvenience to talk to us. Will not return. Friendly folks and some very enjoyable wine, plus a great location on the square. Nice sense of it being "a feast of friends" because of many of the regulars and I frequently see newcomers being invited to sit down in vacant chairs by folks sitting at the tables and then being included in the party. I've always found the staff to be friendly and efficient, even when the place is crowded. The fact that the owners frequently get 50 to 75 people who volunteer to help out with the hard work in the vineyard speaks volumes about them personally, the business they have built and the kind of people who feel comfortable there. read more

According to the guidelines for reviewing I must provide an update. It is a new experience I have had with personal interactions, and it is factual, as my first review was. The comment by the owner was sent to me in a message as well as made public. I replied to that in a private message stating I never received a contract, just his word that he would be there. The subsequent response I received from this owner was that "we obviously had a misunderstanding" and that he had in fact canceled an event in the last 5 years. Hmm, contradictory from the initial response. Either way, I wanted to just let this go but alas, when I tried to reply to provide him with further explanation as well as others who attended the event in question I had been blocked by him so I felt it necessary to share more about my additional personal experience. I was considering stopping in here based on the response I received, but after this, as well as reading how the owner has responded to others on yelp that is out. The owner may be "legally correct" regarding some of his other responses here, but man, there are better ways to handle these situations, especially in public. You give off a really bad impression, and it is very consistently negative . There are better ways to handle customer service issues. read more

They have a lot of cute things for sell but that's about it. Four wines for $10 per tasting. We purchased two tastings but didn't even finish. Wines were poor quality, one girl had to explain the horrible nose on the "Texican" but couldn't really explain it. The two ladies working didn't know where the grapes came from other than "some are from Texas and some are from California. I can deal with average wine but there is only one other tasting room in multiple states where I have had wine this bad. Sometimes, the ambience and service can help make up for things but the service/knowledge was not there. read more

My wine was good. The waitress was great at helping me decide what to drink. We have been to wine tastings/bars/wineries all over the country. The cheese tray is super dissapointing. When I drink wine I want artisan cheeses and meats. Not pepperoni and cheap cheese that I can buy at the grocery store myself. I will say it pleases me that they have gluten free crackers as an option, but it's not enough for me to return. read more

This place is a GEM! The wines are delightful and they have everything from sweet wines to some really good Texas reds. The atmosphere is welcoming, upbeat and fun. Went there between Christmas and New Years 2017 and were not allowed to sit together as a family of 8. The staff was using one of the two large "family size" tables and didn't want to give it up...they just kept messing around at the table and ignoring our request to sit together. We pulled two chairs over from the nearby 2 foot x 2 foot mini circular table and a very arrogant and combative woman came out TWICE from behind the counter and told us "we couldn't do that because the owner doesn't allow it." 3 people in our family got up and left. The rest of us sat down, reluctantly, as one of our party wanted to taste the wines. Bad decision, as one of them smelled--and tasted--like paint thinner. The rest were mediocre. We, once again, had TERRIBLE service here. When one of our party got up to get the next tasting, she thought she was getting a new glass at the counter. A very snide young girl (same one that always acts this way) said harshly, "Well, go get your glass, you have to bring your glass back to get the next tasting." Came in for wine tasting and the wine was decent, the pairings with the dessert wines were great. However the customer service didn't feel as warm or welcoming and they didn't do much explaining when it came to different wines. So that kind of put a damper on the experience.
