I made a huge mistake a few weeks ago and took a vintage silk scarf to Zips to get one spot removed. Zips not only couldn't get the spot out, but also pressed the scarf so hard that it damaged some of the fabric. Alas, I decided to pay for Georgetown Valet to give it a go. They got most of the spot out (I dropped said scarf on the floor so it was a lovely black stain) and were able to correct some of the pressing that happened. While it is more expensive than some of the other local cleaners, I will be taking my clothes here from now on! read more

Don't go! I brought four shirts here to be dry cleaned. I had some sweat stains on the collars and some dirt on the cuffs. I had been using the dry cleaners in the building where I lived and when they couldn't get it out, I took it to Georgetown Valet, despite the fact that they had only so-so reviews online, because they were local. Shame on me. When I first brought my shirts in, the woman up front told me the shirts needed a deep clean, rather than a simple wash to get the stains out. She also said it would be about $6 a shirt and seemed nervous while telling me the cost. That WAS expensive but I wanted my shirts cleaned, so I sucked it up and said--okay, let's do it. Several days later, I returned and another lady--who I think was one of the owners--brought my shirts up front. It looked as though NOTHING had been done to them. The collars and sleeves still were unacceptable. She explained that the woman who took my order was a temporary worker and must have misunderstood that I wanted a deep clean because the shirts had only gone through a simple wash. First of all, I'm not sure how that's my problem and then, amazingly enough, the woman who returned my shirts now (again, the owner) STILL expected me to pay even though I hadn't gotten either the service I asked for or clean shirts. The owner suggested I leave one shirt for a deep clean to see how that went (note, she did not guarantee it would clean the collar or cuffs), so despite my hesitation, I did so. Well, I came back several days later. The same owner was there and she showed me my shirt, which still looked terrible. I complained and reminded her that I hadn't had the service done right the first time either. She hesitated then took me through the process they use to clean the shirts, which I didn't really care about, since it obviously wasn't effective. I complained a little more and she hesitated again then said, let me get you a plastic bag for that. In other words: I don't care. She expected payment, which I probably shouldn't have done, but I just wanted out of there...I did not want another frustrating conversation with someone who obviously does not care about the quality of their service. Take note: this place provides a service, NOT clean clothes. If you're not happy with how your clothes are when they come back, you will still be expected to pay because a service has been delivered. You want a GREAT dry cleaner in the Chevy Chase-Bethesda region? Go to Chevy Chase Valet on Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda. I wrote a Yelp review for that place too that's worth reading. Don't go to Georgetown Valet--the place not only has shoddy cleaning service, it has shoddy customer service. read more

Georgetown valet cleaners has improved tremendously with new management. Although their prices may be a bit higher than other places the quality of their service is outstanding. The owner is always very kind and friendly. She would replace a button or remove a small stain as a complementary service which I always appreciate. I recommend this place to anyone who is looking for consistent high quality dry cleaning as well as alteration. read more

This branch of Georgetown Valet is under new management and it is much improved. The previous manager was very unfriendly, the new manager warmly greets customers and actually cares what customers think. They do a good job cleaning the clothes, too. Recommended. read more

This is my go to place for dry cleaning and pants hemming. Why I'm finally leaving a review: They recently did an AMAZING job on a getting a large red wine spill out of a white silk gown. Friendly too! The prices are fair for this area and for the level service (my recent situation cost extra but it was a huge job so I think that is fair). Highly recommended, especially if you wear light colored clothing and your friends like red wine and knocking things over. read more

ehhhh... I can't say how much I would love for this to be a great dry cleaner with great prices and service, but it's really just average cleaning. The service is okay, the quality is okay, not great... I have to admit, I'm really lazy and forgetful. I need to have a local drycleaners otherwise I'll never get my clothes back. the Friendship Heights georgetown valet, is fine, nothing outstanding, nothing horrible, but nothing to write home to mom about either. If only I could give this place 0 stars! They are God awful and incompetent. Took my dress here last minute for alterations and the incompetent tailor took it upon himself to remove an important part of the dress!! And they wouldn't even give me my money back. Please do not get anything tailored here. This is the second time I have had to use them last minute and both times I had horrible experiences! DO NOT GO HERE! read more

I have to give credit to these guys for some great alteration work they've done for me. One was a suit jacket and pants that they did a great job with. Two times pants hemmed, and one of them I was worried about. I was asking them to fix a poor hem job done by a different place. i was worried because I have had that done poorly before - where you can see a line where they added fabric to to this extension piece or something that was inserted. Great job. I would highly recommend for basic to intermediate alteration work. read more

Worst dry cleaner I've been to-- overpriced and my clothes did not come out as pressed and clean as I would have expected, especially for the price. I also got a pair of jeans hemmed and they charged an extra $2 just because it was jeans. What a rip! Plus, they did not even press the jeans after hemming, which in my experience, other places do routinely. Even though this place is a convenient location, avoid like the plague! I live around the corner from Georgetown Valet. They are very overpriced, service is poor and the staff (especially the woman) is extremely rude. She gave me a bill for dry cleaning and hemming which did not include the full total on the receipt. When I went back she said that I owe $83 for hemming and a couple of dry cleaning items. When I hesitated, she proceeded to scold me for not requesting the full total from her. Not only did she mislead me on the price but also left me bitter with her extremely rude behavior. I am not surprised to see all the horrible reviews of this place. Even though the store is extremely conveniently located, I will never be back there again and I would caution others from going there as well. read more

THE WORST dry cleaner I've ever been to! This place is very close to where I live, and the store looks very clean -- thought this would be an ideal local dry cleaner. Boy, I was wrong! I brought in a trench coat (along with several other items) for dry clean. Even though I did ask them to wrap the buckle of the belt (so the buckle will be protected during the cleaning process), they completely forgot about my request so the buckle of the belt was ruined! The silliest part? When I went to pick up my trench coat, they told me about the belt and said they've ordered a replacement buckle to fix it and I have to pay them 10 extra dollars! YES, they didn't even give me the option of whether or not I would like them to replace my buckle, they just told me I need to pay them the money because they already placed a "special order" for a replacement buckle. Never went back! Did I mention they are quite expensive? Before the trench coat incident, I had my full-size comforter washed (not dry cleaner) and they charged me $40-something. Should have stopped doing business with them earlier!! Bak's in Bethesda is much better and much less expensive, although I've only been to Bak's once and have to wait a while before writing a full review about Bak's yet. read more

This cleaner/alterations service has now fixed two messes caused by the incompetent cleaner in my apartment building. Normally, I love convenience, but when 'convenient' results in an elastic waistband breaking due to poor quality and bad sewing--and a stain is left while a 'wet circle' is added--forget convenience, I'll go with quality. Georgetown Valet is a bit pricier but fixed both messes admirably, saving both garments. It's a reminder that we get what we pay for :-). read more

Cleaners damaged a moderately priced blouse ($120.00). I requested settlement by giving me a credit on future cleaning equal to half the cost of the blouse which was about a year old. They agreed but after several weeks decided they had to keep the blouse if they gave me a customer credit. I left with my damaged blouse to never return. It cost me $13.00 to clean the blouse. For that price they should provide quality work and stand by it. Accidents happen, but when the cleaners is at fault, it should act caring and responsibly and make reasonable amends particularly when it's prices for cleaning are at the high end. Do not trust them with your investment clothing. The person assisting me stated that she was the new owner, not certain that matters. read more
