Georgetown café & Bakery is a friendly place that is happy to make sure you can find what you need - even if that means sending you across the street for the coffee of your choice (they serve coffee, but not specialty coffee drinks.)  The afternoon we visited, we were trying to choose from two of the house specialties - the brownie and the chocolate chip bread pudding. Unable to choose, we did the only logical thing and ordered them both.  Each dessert was tasty with maybe a slight edge being given to the bread pudding because it was warm and the day was chilly.  The seating was comfortable and the location was peaceful.  There is plenty of parking in the garage nearby. read more

Georgetown really delivered for us! Jonathon got us in, while we were in a rush to get to a wedding. After waiting an hour to get into another location, we made the trek down the street to this cozy, historic inn/restaurant. Jonathon got us our food within 15 minutes once we had ordered! I visited Georgetown Cafe & Bakery for a late breakfast on a cold, rainy, Friday morning - arrived about 10:30 am. After looking over the menu - I ordered the Sausage Gravy & Biscuits - which comes with two eggs - ordered those over easy. And a side of bacon - and coffee, and water. The food came out fast. The Sausage gravy was disappointing. It was on the thin side, ladled over a single thin biscuit - and did not have much flavor. I added salt, pepper, and a bit of the hot sauce they had on hand - which is as far as I can tell - a generic cayenne-based sauce served in a plastic soufflé cup. The eggs were cooked properly. The bacon was extremely crispy and very thin. You could tell it had been sitting under a heat lamp or just sitting for a while. Definitely not cooked to order. The coffee was slightly burnt. Service was good. I attempted to pay with Apple Pay - but they have their POS so far behind the counter - that I could not reach it and authenticate at the same time - so I just paid cash. First time here. Stopped in for breakfast on a Saturday morning. We had the Egg and Cheese sandwich and the Big South (biscuits and sausage gravy). Egg and cheese sandwich was good with good portion of scrambled eggs. Big South was not great. Gravy was soupy and the biscuits were burnt. Hopefully others had a better experience. The bacon was clearly deep fried and way too dry. Coffee was burnt and the creamer offered didn't help. This small cafe looked welcoming with outdoor seating- it was not. The server was miserable & acted put out by more customers ( it wasn't busy, and was 4 of us at 11 am on a Sunday). The croissant sandwich was a decent size but that was the only redeeming quality; nothing special in flavor. I couldn't remember the name of this restaurant, I would know when I saw it but I had to dig through pictures on my phone to find a clue of the name even then I only found the name through the King's Court Tavern yelp. Anyways. I'm not sure if this is a tourist trap but I fell for it. My experience was extremely disappointing. In previous trips to Leesburg I have walked by this place and it looked cute from the outside, it was dead then and it was dead this time around as well. I assumed it was because of the time of day, but now I'm not sure if that was the case at all. I was driving by downtown Leesburg this weekend and decided to make a quick stop with my boyfriend to grab some lunch. I should've looked something up ahead of time but I didn't, we just stopped by the nearest restaurant. I have no one to blame but myself. The menu was pretty generic, what can you expect from a cafe. We started off with some coffee. I went with the bleu cheese burger, I expected something super savory. My boyfriend went with a reuben. We received our food and I was shocked to see about 4 specks of bleu cheese on my burger. In my past, bleu cheese burgers have always been indulged with bleu cheese. The reuben was thin with about a few slices of corned beef and maybe a slice of cheese? What was most surprising was the fact we paid $46 for the meal. I really encourage management to review their prices or upgrade what they serve. The total should have been half of that for what was presented. Really wish I'd taken a second to check Yelp before stopping in here. Our party of six wanted to take a quick coffee break and not only was the service less than welcoming, the coffee was terrible. My son (who is too young to drink coffee) asked what drinks they had and the server (who was unmasked) seemed strangely put out at having to answer the question. I glanced out the window and saw that they had hot cider written on the sidewalk sign so I suggested that when the server brusquely responded that they were out. No explanation, no apology, no alternate suggestions. He got water. I don't usually leave negative reviews but given that the overall rating is already two stars, another bad review isn't going to make much of a difference other than to confirm what others have already said. We paid and left quickly and went to Sidecar across the street instead and had a delightful brunch on their back patio. Stopped in here on a whim and it turned out to be a wise choice. Normally I will look a place up on the Yelp prior to deciding but didn't do that this morning. We did look at the reviews while sitting at the table and wondered if we should run out screaming....we stayed and took our chances. I can see no reason why Georgetown has such a low rating. Our food was delicious, I had a waffle and a side of grits. My wife had a veggie omelet with potatoes (which were not the usual greasy kind rather, tender with a touch of onion) and a small helping of fresh fruit. The staff was very attentive and pleasant, the ambiance was fitting for the type of place. So, I would say give them a chance and after your pleased with them write a decent review. read more

We had a great breakfast: biscuits and gravy, breakfast burrito, side of oatmeal, a coffee, a couple of Bloody Maries for under $4.0 The service was good and no frills. Horrible experience!! We had a table of 6 plus three children under the age of 3. We started off ok, our waiter said " it is a bit of a wait"we responded with "no problem". We arrived around 7pm and 2 out of the 6 of us were served about 40 mins into our wait. At 858 two more meals came out COLD! 910 the rest of the food also COLD. We asked to speak to the manager(the owner came out) and he was rude and said he does not comp meals. He then proceeded to tell us that we could go somewhere else next time. He then said if you didnt eat it at all then I will take it off the bill. We asked him to touch the food. He touched it and said " it is cold so dont eat it". In this case, I'm glad we avoided the place. 24 violations since September 20th? They had 3 follow up visits from an inspector since September and they've added MORE violations! My iced tea was not-so-iced. And by "iced tea" I mean "tea-flavored water." I think there were the remnants of two little bits of ice floating in it by the time it arrived at our table. We asked for a glass of ice (and had to ask for it again when it didn't arrive within ten minutes) and it was -half- a glass of ice. And by glass, I'm talking stemware, not even a full glass. That's how our meal started off. If it improved later on, it was marginally. I ordered the biscuits and gravy (which came with home fries) and a side of bacon. While all the rest of our food arrived, I had to ask again about my side of bacon. When that finally arrived, it was deliciously crisp and hot - presumably fresh out of the skillet? I'm a little suspicious that its fate was similar to our requested glass of ice from earlier on... I've had fluffier biscuits. I've had biscuits less burnt on the bottom. I've had sausage gravy that was less salty. I've had home fries more flavorful and less greasy. And I've had far more savory bacon (see my review for Clinton Street Baking Company). We stopped by this place on a Sunday morning in hopes to find a brunch spot downtown. However, this was the only one that was open and didn't have a long wait. I really wish I could give ZERO stars because this place was awful. The server had a major attitude as if we were bothering her while we were there. We would ask for a refill and she would roll her eyes or snap at us about how we had to wait. She brought our drinks out, one at a time as well as our food, as if she didn't know how to use a tray and there were five of us. The food itself was terrible, we only got desserts so it wasn't like she had to put a lot of effort into making it but she made it like she was so inconvenienced. The ice cream serving was tiny, like she scooped it with a melon baller, and old while the cake was sub-par, like it was grocery store cake. The serving sizes were small yet our bill came to $75! Between the craptastic attitude of the server, the subpar food and the exorbitant prices I would NOT recommend this dump. The sign in the front window is incredibly misleading, because it is definitely not a bakery nor is it a coffee shop. My friend & I walked in and it didn't take us too long to realize that our search for a nice coffee drink and pastries would end in disappointment. We stuck around only because we were in the mood for some kind of dessert. The only thing that we had there was the hot brownie sundae (which is NOT on the menu, but was recommended by a staff member), and that was quite satisfying. We got to look at the menu, and quite honestly, nothing there really sounds appealing. However, the staff was extremely friendly and the service was good. Things just sort of went down hill from there. The sausage gravy on biscuits was good with an egg served however you wanted. When eating local I'd expect better than margarine with jellies in packages that aren't anything special. The bacon was a nice portion, but the waffle was served on a plate with powdered sugar, plain and a little soggy. It was supposed to be served with whipped cream but that was forgotten as well. It was one of those mornings where we were both tempted to get up and leave. Breakfast for two took about 55 minutes. Overall our experience at this restaurant was positive. The cafe itself is very convenient being located in the center of old-town Leesburg. We stopped in at 1:00 PM and were the only diners in the cafe. The menu was historic Leesburg (British) fare and very diverse. We enjoyed our meals, fish and chips and a french dip, and found them very flavorful. The french dip was among the best we've ever had. Our only complaint is while we were waiting for our food the waiter turned on the tv, which in itself isn't necessarily a problem, but it was so loud we had to yell at each other in order to hear what we were saying in the otherwise empty cafe. The waiter never checked back on us after we received our food and we had to get up to ask him for our check. While the service was disappointing, the restaurant is worth a visit because the food is quite tasty. read more
