We stopped at No. 900, a casual Neapolitan pizzeria with several locations around Montreal. This one was especially convenient because it's right next door to the Residence Inn. Since I was joining dinner, we settled outside. It was getting a little cold, so rather than sit on the ground like some sort of common street dog, I remained bundled up in my carrier. Comfort is important when conducting restaurant reviews. Dad ordered the Margherita pizza, which looked perfectly respectable. Mom, however, ordered the ham and roasted mushroom pizza. Ham. Suddenly I was considerably more invested in dinner. The pizza arrived with big pieces of ham scattered across the top, and after what I can only assume was an intense internal debate about whether she really needed all of it, Mom gave me some. Finally. A restaurant review where the critic is actually permitted to sample the food. The ham was excellent. I would have liked to conduct a larger sampling for quality-control purposes, but apparently there are "limits." The humans were very happy with their pizzas, and the warm, freshly made pizza was exactly what they wanted on a chilly night. For me, the combination of outdoor seating, carrier-level coziness and actual participation in dinner made this a successful evening. Dogba's verdict: 4 paws out of 5. Neapolitan pizza: human approved Dog-friendly outdoor seating: yes Chilly-night carrier accommodations: luxurious Roasted mushrooms: Mom's department Ham: SHARED WITH DOGBA Mom's sharing performance: significant improvement Convenience for Residence Inn guests: excellent My career as an Italian food critic: progressing nicely Would return. Preferably during warmer weather. Definitely with the ham.

Pooh and I came here for lunch today…read more The restaurant itself is big on two floors (main and lower) the main floor has windows on two walls, one brick wall and one glass looking at the kitchen. Our server was very pleasant. We started off with a half Caesar salad each and then we shared the Dei Compari pizza. Also we ordered a pint of Moretti The salad was the perfect size and just the right amount of dressing. I don't usually have the croutons because they can be chewy but these were very crispy The pizza was delicious! The toppings were great and the crust was soft and chewy in a good way This pizza was supposed to have Italian sausage on it but neither of us tasted it nor saw it. Also we received the salad and then maybe 30 seconds later the pizza. We were sitting at a table that couldn't have more than two people so when the pizza arrived we had to move items around so we could eat both at the same time When we finished our salad the bowls sat there through the whole meal. There were at least three servers here so I thought one of them could have come and removed the bowls to give the table some breathing room The food was great; the service needs to be improved.

This should have been 5 stars... had the whole dining experience not been undermined by a kitchen…read morestaff who are incapable of serving the number of seats on the large terrace. They could blame the excessive number of seats, but peeking into the open kitchen, it became very obvious where the problem was. Throughout the night, the service staff can be seen perpetually apologizing to each table. The wait staff truly tried their best, but when the kitchen is disorganized and run by guys who truly seem to not give a damn, the wait staff, and ultimately the patrons suffer. The caprice of the evening was when I suggested to the kitchen that they cover to post tips their wait staff are losing due to their inability to get an order out in under 45 minutes. Their response was "Get the f"*k out of here loser". Was I over the top? Perhaps, but the kitchen and management should be aware that if you are going to populate a terrace with more seats than the kitchen can competently service, there will be a problem. At 900 degrees a pizza cooks in about 2 minutes. Getting a pizza from order to table should not take 45 minutes. And to be served a pizza with an overly charred and bitter crust is unacceptable. I truly feel for the wait staff. They are being undermined by the back end operation. AITA?

I would be remiss if I didn't mention the excellent selection of tunes that these guys were playing! The goods: My friend and I shared the burrata and oven-baked bread (yum!) and we both ordered the Toutegazzi. I also ordered the deeee-licious Yes, You Should (cocktail) and the tiramisu for dessert (fantastic. My friend got the carrot cake, which is her go-to dessert when she comes here, Service: Great - I got a confirmation call earlier in the day from a super friendly individual who reminded me it was 18+ after 6 p.m. and the our waiter were also friendly. It took a little while to get our pizza but the place was super busy and also had a ton of to-go orders. Price point: I can't comment for now - I was treated to dinner! The crust was nice and thin, which I usually love, but the pizza just felt a little bland for my taste. The "ranch" dip tasted more like dill sauce, which wasn't what I was expecting. The coleslaw side was fine, but nothing memorable. The BOGO deal helped, but after fees and taxes, two combos still came to about $40. Not a bad experience, just not my style of pizza. Glad I gave it a try, but I'd probably stick with some of my usual go-to spots next time.

In fact, Oxford University research reveal that the more often people eat and connect with others, the more likely they are to feel happy and satisfied with their lives. The results demonstrates that people who eat socially are more likely to feel better about themselves and have a wider social network capable of providing social and emotional support to combat physical and mental illness. Despite the clear correlation between social eating and bonding, the study also reveals a third of the weekday evening meals are eaten alone due to hectic work and life schedules, over two-third of people have never shared a meal with a neighbour, and one in five questioned have not shared dinner with a close friend or family in more than six months at home, a cafe or in a restaurant.
